Own a Desire, which I love.. I can mess about on it all day and never get bored. I am however frustrated by the fact we have the ability to put apps on SD but not many developers allow there apps to run from the SD card?? Google are poor at this also! Just wondering if any one knew why developers seem so unwilling?

There are alot of rumors around about the upcoming 1.6 release, does anyone know if the ability to save apps to the memory card will be implemented in this release or will it be still a case of hurry up and wait?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had 18mb internal memory free for apps and after installing an epub reader i kept getting the message running low on memory.I uninstalled it and did a reboot and now i have 70mb free and all the existing apps are running fine.Somehow i have managed to free up a huge amount of lost space which I assume was being taken up by apps not uninstalling correctly.Either way i'm happy until froyo comes out.Just wish I knew where the memory keeps disappearing to over time.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSince moving to Froyo I have noticed a problem.there are only a few apps at the moment that you are able to move to the SD card and I have noticed that when you I do move the app my internal memory does not increase back up. eg: say i have 110mb free internal memory and I install a 10mb app knocking internal down to 100mb if I "move app to SD card" it does transfer but my internal is still 100mb. Am i being completely stupid and missing something or have any of you guys had a similar prob?
View 9 Replies View Relatedi uninstalled an app from ther htc desire and noticed they dont get the full memory back. some apps i get it all back but i noticed with swype unistalling i didnt get full memory back and copilot possibly a few others so it must be leaving leftovers of the app in my memory taking up valuable space.is ther a way to find and delete left over files from installs on the htc?
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a desire, unlocked and debranded running 2.2, since installing it last Sunday I keep getting a low memory message. I have moved apps to sd, deleted seldom used apps that were on the internal memory and gone through and cleared the cache down on browser and apps.
What else can I do to free up internal memory, is the only way to remove unwanted HTC apps eg. Stocks, tweet etc to root and run a custom Rom?
I have just rooted my desire and its fine, i did a back up too so ive not lost anything and its working fine, but im trying to still figure out how to make a default setting of some kind so my apps save to my SD card rather than internal memory. also im trying to become more aware of the benefits of rooting now ive done it besides the increase in phone performance etc and things like that.

View 4 Replies View RelatedCurrently on my Desire I'm using LeeDroid 2.2d, which is very nice. Partitioned my SD card for a2sd+ so I've got over 100mb free of internal memory, and can install as many apps as I want, which is great. The caveat - I can't send people pictures, and their pictures won't come through either, though I don't have this issue with people who have iPhones. Other people with Desires cannot MMS me and I cannot MMS them back, nor can my wife with her Samsung Slyde (we're with Telus in Canada). Basically on either end we get a message that says "Generic network failure" whenever an MMS attempts to download. It repeats this message over and over for a few hours, which is extremely annoying, especially when I'm the recipient.
I assume, as it did with my stock Telus 2.1 before I rooted, that MMS will work fine if I use the very-recently-released Froyo from Telus. I know that to some degree I will be able to move apps to SD with this, but not to the extent that a2sd+ does, where using a 512mb partition on your SD card to imitate phone memory, it saves an enormous amount of precious internal space.
What would you do? Is there a way to get a2sd+ for this new Telus? Or even better, is there a way to make MMS work properly under LeeDroid?

View 14 Replies View RelatedFiddling around with the new version of the gmail client at lunch time I found something that I've been desperate for in the past! When you're viewing an email, press the Menu hardkey, select More and choose "Select text". Then simply drag your finger over the block of text you want to copy. It's rudimentary but it works. Unfortunately it doesn't work on the quoted text area when you are replying to an email, but hey, it's a definite improvement on going to the webmail client.

I have Advanced Task Killer, and when I go in for example it shows Messages running, when I kill it, it will reappear in 30 secs or so, the same with MP3 store. Can these apps be stopped so they don't take up memory or what's the deal here. Thanks for any help.
View 6 Replies View RelatedJust got myself a new 16gb memory card, and want to put in my rooted Hero with Elelinux 1.6, but having trouble.Heres what I've done so far:
* I copy/pasted everything from my old membery card onto my pc desktop.
* Put new mem card into my hero - sorted out the partitions (in case I go back to 2.1 and need app2sd)
* Formatted the sd card within Android
* copy/pasted everything from my pc desktop onto my new memory card
The problem is, none of my installed apps/widgets are there. I tried to install Titanium from the marketplace, but for some reason wasn't able to - it just sort of hung on the download screen, (even though I didn't actually choose to download it?)
I just got my Incredible a few days ago and I'm still learning it. So far its much better than my old Blackberry. I just have a question as to if this is normal or if I have a defective phone. When I got into running apps under settings its shows on the bottom (the numbers of course vary) Avail: 64+219 in 25 and Other 60mb in 4. As soon as I open then browser and go back and check it goes to Avail: 58mb+0.00b in 25 and Other: 0.00b in 4. I checked my fiancee's Moto Droid and it isn't doing this. Is it normal with the Incredible or is my phone defective?

Also, the other day when i was on charger I had a popup tell me the what percentage of battery usage each program was using (It was saying I was using more power than usb supplied and the battery was going to die).

1. App memory. On my blackberry I got into the habit of constantly checking my app memory. I have about 12 apps installed and jump around 30-55 available memory. Should I be worried about my app memory and keep freeing it up?
2. How many apps do you all have installed I see tons of apps I want but I tend to uninstall them because of app memory.
I apologize if this is a question that has been asked before. But, I wasn't able to find a thread that really answered my question.
I run Aloysius 2.1 as my ROM, and I run Darktremor 2.7 apps2sd. I have a 16gb sd card, and it is partitioned. The apps that I download are being saved to the sd card. But, yesterday, I had to data/factory reset, wipe dalvik-cache, and wipe SD:ext partition. With the help ofKelmar I was able to get things working again. After I got it working, and did a nandroid restore, I still had to go re-download all the apps that I had. Prior to doing this my internal storage showed around 40-41mb. It now shows only 23mb after re-downloading all the apps I had. I know that the apps are being saved to my sd card, but, I would like to figure out why my internal memory is still decreasing, and why it is so low in the first place since I am running apps2sd?
Just got a Hero and need some help if possible, while I play with this great phone.
1. How do you save and run apps from the memory card ?
2. Is there a simple way to kill apps, as they seem to clog up.
3. Can the device be rooted?
