Jun 8, 2010sometimes when I kill my apps manually I get 100 mb. Then other times ill kill them and it well have only 60 or so.

HTC Droid Eris : Apps Opening By Themselves - Can These Apps Be Stopped So They Don't Take Up Memory
May 18, 2010Hope you guys can help. Since the 2.1 update I have certain apps which appear to be opening in the background when I didn't open them. I have Advanced Task Killer, and when I go in for example it shows Messages running, when I kill it, it will reappear in 30 secs or so, the same with MP3 store. Can these apps be stopped so they don't take up memory or what's the deal here. Thanks for any help.

Dec 3, 2009Just switched from a blackberry for the past 3 years to the eris. Loving the phone loving android its amazing compared to my storm1. Just a couple basic questions to ask real quick.
1. App memory. On my blackberry I got into the habit of constantly checking my app memory. I have about 12 apps installed and jump around 30-55 available memory. Should I be worried about my app memory and keep freeing it up?
2. How many apps do you all have installed I see tons of apps I want but I tend to uninstall them because of app memory.

Dec 17, 2009I have the startup auditor and Task Panel apps. I want to try and setup the phone to always have as much memory available as possible. Most of them are pretty obvious but there are a few I'm not sure of. Does anyone have a comprehensive list of services/processes/etc. that we can safely kill off and/or set for auto-kill/disable at startup? Edit: One I was curious about is Google Partner Setup. I have killed it off without any issues through Task Panel. But would having it on the auto-kill list be OK?

The Cube is also running on 4.2.2 and is rooted. Is there any tweak or an app that can add this button?

May 1, 2013I have my lenovo p770 and its been a month since i used it, my problem that ive encounter was when i have a low ram the android cant even kill apps on its own to free ram for the apps the im gonna use. is my device defective? it forces the apps to crash. Theres a solution to my problem, it is to restart the phone. But I dont want to restart it over and over again.

However i didnt find a good thread about this so i am going to start a new one.I was told by one geek that i know (trust me, a big big geek) that Android OS learns what apps you use and which you dont. It takes time (1-2 weeks) of normal usage though.I also found this article. Why You Shouldn't Be Using a Task Killer with Android Geek For Me - Android CDMA Sprint Hero.Now I uninstalled ATK and seeing if the phones performance will be affected in the long run. I have a feeling that the first several days will be pretty slow, but i bed it will get better.What do you think? My buddy has been using his Eris w/out ATK for a week now and everything is smooth and quick.

How can I set mail app to sync manually? I mean not notification, but actual email app. I want to check my emails when I actually open email app. I don't want mail app check my emails for me.
I did find to turn notifications off, but thats not what I want.

Jul 4, 2012I recently changed my ROM, and as soon as done, started having lots of problems installing apps:
* the play store on my computer would report applications not available for my device, even though I had downloaded and installed them before
* the search in the phone play store application could not find those apps, and when given a direct link would show them as incompatible
* modded version of vending.apk failed to download with the following error: "app name" could not be downloaded due to an error. (942)
* trying to install the backed up apk manually gave me the error "Application not installed"
* restoring titanium backup failed and left the restore process hanging
* manually copying the apk to /system/app/ and fixing the permissions still did not show the app
I tried many things, different roms, different ril, different mods of Vending.apk and GoogleServicesFramework.apk, clearing data and cache, deleting files in .android_secure, etc, nothing worked. Searching the forum brought up many posts about other people with the same problem, but no working solution.
Finally, I found the solution: I was using the wrong gapps package!The one I had flashed was for 2.3.2, my previous rom, whereas the new one was based on 2.3.7. It did not occur to me, that there could be enough changes to break market functionality, since I was sticking to gingerbread.
If you have the same problem, head to [URL] ..... and pay close attention to the table matching the right google apps package to your android version. Download it, and flash through recovery.

Feb 7, 2010So I am a total newbie not only to the boards but also to the Eris. So I would like to thank all of you in advance for not flaming me if this is a super simple fix. I have had my eris for about 3 weeks now. Everything works perfectly but over the last few days I can no longer hit the red end call button in order to manually lock my phone. When I press it, my phone does NOTHING. It will however still lock after it is idle for 1 one and it will also open back up when I hit the red button (so I know its not a problem with the physical button). I have restarted it, removed the battery, and deleted apps that were downloaded around the same time this started. I have also checked every setting I can possible think of but can't figure this out.

For example, my sister is not linked to any FB profile when she should be. The names match up. Most of the people are, but some aren't. I can't find a way to link it manually to her FB profile. All of my contacts sync'd fine with the stock OS. Anybody else have this issue? Do you have a solution? I had the same problem in KaosFroyo v23 and never found a solution.

Anyone have an explanation for this? I read that it has something to do with a different HBOOT, but I'm not really understanding it. Do you think we will every be able to get the OTA so that we can go root? I quickly jumped to the 2.1v3 leak without fully understanding the benefits of root and now, after more research, I really want to go root.
