HTC Desire :: Gmail Client Now Has Ability To Copy Text

Aug 4, 2010

Fiddling around with the new version of the gmail client at lunch time I found something that I've been desperate for in the past! When you're viewing an email, press the Menu hardkey, select More and choose "Select text". Then simply drag your finger over the block of text you want to copy. It's rudimentary but it works. Unfortunately it doesn't work on the quoted text area when you are replying to an email, but hey, it's a definite improvement on going to the webmail client.

Is it possible to copy text from an email in the Google Mail app? I suppose it would be possible to navigate to Gmail in the Browser and copy from there, but I wonder if there is a quicker way?

HTC Desire :: How To Copy Number Into Text Message?

May 20, 2010

Last night I was trying to send a friend anothers friends mobile number via a text message. I assumed that there would be an easy way to copy the number from my contacts and paste it into a text message. However I couldn't work it out and had to go down the traditional route of writing it on a piece of paper then sending the text! Hardly a good advert for the new 'uberphone' that the desire is billed as! So, is there a way to do it?

Android :: Phone Recommendations That Have Specifically Ability To Call / Text?

Sep 15, 2010

I'm looking to get an Android based phone and I thought I had decided on one, but since then I keep seeing other options and I'm not sure what to go with any more. It would be nice if anyone could point me to the best option for me. The only things I'm looking for in an android phone specifically is the ability to call, text (very little chance this won't be included :P) and GPS. I do not want a high-end one, and I certainly don't want one which has an enormous screen/form like the Desire, Galaxy S or likewise. I'm looking to spend no more than 250, but would prefer the option to be sub-200 and possible to buy in the UK. I'm not looking for a contract or branded, and want to buy it outright, so importing can be an option assuming it's not troublesome. It's important that the tech be powerful enough that the UI isn't sluggish and is fairly responsive. A nice plus would be to have WiFi capability, with it being possible to tether. The phone I was originally looking at was the HTC Wildfire, and the only downside I could find about the phone was the screen resolution. Then I seen an announcement for the new LG Optimus One and became unsure and thought there may be another better option around.

HTC Desire :: A2sd - Or Ability To Send MMS

Nov 2, 2010

Currently on my Desire I'm using LeeDroid 2.2d, which is very nice. Partitioned my SD card for a2sd+ so I've got over 100mb free of internal memory, and can install as many apps as I want, which is great. The caveat - I can't send people pictures, and their pictures won't come through either, though I don't have this issue with people who have iPhones. Other people with Desires cannot MMS me and I cannot MMS them back, nor can my wife with her Samsung Slyde (we're with Telus in Canada). Basically on either end we get a message that says "Generic network failure" whenever an MMS attempts to download. It repeats this message over and over for a few hours, which is extremely annoying, especially when I'm the recipient.

I assume, as it did with my stock Telus 2.1 before I rooted, that MMS will work fine if I use the very-recently-released Froyo from Telus. I know that to some degree I will be able to move apps to SD with this, but not to the extent that a2sd+ does, where using a 512mb partition on your SD card to imitate phone memory, it saves an enormous amount of precious internal space.

What would you do? Is there a way to get a2sd+ for this new Telus? Or even better, is there a way to make MMS work properly under LeeDroid?

HTC Desire : Memory - Ability To Put Apps On SD

Oct 28, 2010

Own a Desire, which I love.. I can mess about on it all day and never get bored. I am however frustrated by the fact we have the ability to put apps on SD but not many developers allow there apps to run from the SD card?? Google are poor at this also! Just wondering if any one knew why developers seem so unwilling?

If so, do you think you could investigate why many users (me included) continue to lose ALL email accounts at least once a week, and sometimes twice a day. it's basically an unusable application that can not be relied upon for anything. nice phones though. iphone never lost my email account settings.

HTC EVO 4G :: GMAIL APP - No Copy And Paste / Fix It?

Jun 23, 2010

so yesterday I've noticed that the GMAIL app (not the HTC EVO native app) does not let you copy text from the body of the email. Was trying to copy a tracking number and paste into Dolphin but no go. Tried in the HTC Mail and it worked.

I prefer the GMAIL app (PUSH) over the HTC Mail but will never go back to it if this does not have a fix.

WTH Google? Seriously?? No Copy and Paste?
I thought you learned from Crapple's mistake

HTC Droid Eris :: Setup GMail To Be Default (SEND) Client?

Dec 6, 2009

I'm using GMail by default on my phone because it allows me to have my mail pushed to me. Receiving works great, but when I tell the phone to send an email such as a picture from the internet while in the browser, it makes me choose between Exchange or a POP account. How can I get it so it uses gmail instead? I tried adding my GMail account as a POP 3 and sending the emails, but I'm not receiving any of them.

BTW, after conditioning my battery for 3 days, I'm currently at 6 hours of awake time and 24 hours of up time, and the sucker still won't die, lol.

Android :: School Email Work With Droid Gmail Client?

Jan 1, 2010

I know Android uses two email clients but I assume the Gmail client has the best integration and functionality (please correct me if I'm wrong). My school uses an email system that's based off of Gmail with my address being example@fiu.edu. The calendar is also the same. Here's a link of what the log-in looks like:

https://www.google.com/a/fiu.edu/ServiceLogin?service=mail&passive=true&rm=false&co ntinue=https://mail.google.com/a/fiu.edu/&bsv=zpwhtygjntrz&ss=1&ltmpl=default&ltmplcache=2& hl=en

Would this work seamlessly with the stock Android Gmail client?

Android : Copy Text From An Email

Jul 27, 2010

I'm a recent iPhone convert -- picked up a Samsung Captivate last week and have been really enjoying it, though I think I may get a refund and switch to the DroidX due to various issues I have with the Captivate.

Anywho, one pressing issue I haven't been able to find a solution to is regarding email.

1. How do I copy text from an email? I know if I first reply to an email then I can copy text, but is there a way to do so without having to first hitting the reply button?

2. How do I move emails from one folder to the next?

I'm currently just using the stock email client that came on my Captivate, are there others that are more powerful (not sure you can really call it 'powerful' to be able to copy text and move emails around).
