HTC Incredible :: How To Change Around Boot Screen
Aug 28, 2010I have Skyraider 2.5.2. I want to be able to remove the first part of the boot screen where it says skyraider and has the android waving around for a bit. I tried to delete it from the it's directory /system/media/ but it says it is root only. What do I do? I cannot find anything that shows how to change around the boot screen...

May 27, 2010You need adb and root. choose and download the bootanimation from here Boot Animations NEW! - Android @ MoDaCo. then place the bootanimation.zip into c:/where.ever.you.have.it/androidsdk/tools/ change or remove where.ever.you.have.it to the match your system. then hit windows key and r together. type cmd and hit enter. then type cd c:/where.ever.you.have.it/androidsdk/tools/adb devices (wait for it to find your phone, also make sure that usb debugging is on) now type adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local. when its finished reboot and enjoy.

Nov 3, 2010I have to send my X back and well, it has the boot image of an android peeing on an apple. I don't think Verizon will take to kindly to that. So I have to reset the entire phone and get it back to factory defaults. I don't know how to change the boot animation.

I tried to create a custom in "Samsung Theme Designer" program using the same 240x320 resolution of the device, but also did not work

Aug 7, 2010My aim was to upgrade to froyo. I set up my GoldCard. I then upgraded the RUU to the following with no problems RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed. Now my phone boots with no display, I hear the boot music and the phone is seen by the RUU upgrade if I go back in but no display.

Jul 14, 2010So I rooted my desire using the r6 guide from MoDaCo. Worked well, no problems. Recovered my personal data and apps, set my alarm went to sleep. Alarm goes off, get out of bed and all still fine. Then, I decided to apply apps2SD picking up at the end of Lekky's guide. Followed it word for word but once complete, it wont boot past the HTC boot screen (the white screen with logo).
I am going to try and reapply the rooted ROM (if I can get my blackberry to turn on to write to the goldcard). But, does anyone have any idea what could have gone wrong? I really want apps2SD, but this could all go pear-shaped again. Are there any other tried and tested methods to get apps2sd on a stock superuser ROM?

Aug 25, 2010I've rooted my Desire on o2 have version 0.80 of the boot loader. I applied the defrost rom version 2.7 following this guide. Droid Den - Phone Guide: How To Install Rooted Android 2.2 On Your HTC Desire - Droid Den. It went through applying the ROM but now I just have it stuck on the o2 splash screen and going no further. Can't seem to find a backup.zip anywhere on my ROM and thought to back out the change. What's the best way to go? Re-flash again?

Apr 17, 2010I use my phone in the car a lot, currently with the headset supplied with phone until i get a different solution.
When i am on a longer call the phone is on the pasenger seat and i chat away. The screen goes off as usual after the time i have set, i think it is 1 minute.
When i have ended the call i would like the screen to come back on automatically or respond to a single screen press. I do not want to have to press the power button on top again to get the phone back on.
When i am in the car i am powered on so maybe i can just set the timeout to 20 minutes?

Oct 30, 2010I went to reboot my Droid because it was lagging a little and when it came back on it go stuck at the Cyanogen boot screen. I pulled the battery, put it back in and held the X to boot in recovery and my recovery won't come up either. It just skips right to the Motorola M and if it doesn't get stuck there it goes back to the Cyanogen screen.
I haven't made any changes to the phone at all so I am completely puzzled on why this is happening. I obviously can't take it back to Verizon since its rooted so if there is a way to fix this I really want to because I love my phone and my wife will kill me if it is screwed up.

Sep 26, 2010I rooted it last week with the unrevoked 3 method which seemed to go ok then i tried some different roms and some worked some didnt. I tried to install the r8-bravo-desire-modacocustomrom-withadditions-a2sd+-signed...! This rom got stuck on the white start up screen. I thought that if i cleared the sd card it would install but still the same thing then i just got the white htc screen which i cant get off and i cant load the recovery to change anything...! The sd card is working and i can get into the hboot and when it reads the sd card says wrong img! Is there something missing on the sd card? Have i bricked my phone? Any ideas on a fix?

Apr 13, 2010Tried rooting so I started off flashing r8 of bh_man's 1.6 rom. Went through the setup, odin turned blue to pass and I let the phone run past the android system and then the screen turned off.
Thing about it is that the phone is still being detected by the computer and odin. It's like my phone is on a screen lock but not responding to when I push unlock.
Ive tried every custom rom and each one does the same. I try to go back to stock and most of the time the program closes, when it doesn't I try to flash it and it goes through the process but goes on forever. One time I let the timer go on for 2 hours and it was still on 5/9 completed.

Jan 16, 2014i just got a new phone (my first android), ive been trying to change my boot animation and cant seem to get it to work,i replaced the file which was named bootanimation_virigin.zip (also didnt think of renaming the original, so the original is gone), i even replaced the stock one which was named bootanimation.zip (also didnt rename it or back it up... -__-;; ) i made sure the files are correct and match up with the desc.txt file. i copied the original boot animation zip to my computer and just replaced everything, same number of files, about the same file size, same file type, same size and just put the folders "part0", "part1" and the desc.txt files back on my sd card and moved it to system/media/bootanimation_virigin, i compressed the files into a zip using root browser from the rom toolbox, i made sure that the compression was set to none, and then moved the zip file to system/media, i set the permisions to rw-r--r-- which is the exact same as the other boot animations. nothing shows up anymore till the phone is done booting but ill admit that it is definitely better than the stock virgin mobile animation...
here is everything i have for this boot animation (including: original virgin mobile boot animation, a video of the boot animation, all the pictures, and a folder titled "bootanimation_virign" which is the folder i moved into system/media)

i thought it was something on my phone but it was the way after effects renders jpeg sequences, i think it has something to do with the attributes of the jpeg file but anyways i just used a program called boot animation creator and it worked perfectly

Jul 31, 2010I was able to change the boot animation before Froyu using the procedure at http://androidforums.com/tips-tricks-evo-4g/109120-how-install-new-boot-animation-without-root.html.After Froyo, I've tried to push the zip file as VZW_bootanimation.zip and bootanimation.zip to both /data/local and /system/customize/resource (I can't write to that location, I think it's for rooted phones only). None of these four options worked.What am I missing? That native boot animation is nasty.

When I try to change the boot animation in CM6 it won't go through. I know the boot animation is located in system/media/boot animation.zip and I choose Mount R/W and it still won't change it. Do I have to use another method to change it?
