View 1 RepliesOk so I have searched around.do you need to root to change the boot animation? If not where can I find some other ones.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have to send my X back and well, it has the boot image of an android peeing on an apple. I don't think Verizon will take to kindly to that. So I have to reset the entire phone and get it back to factory defaults. I don't know how to change the boot animation.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm just trying to change my boot animation to go along with a theme i have for bugless beast 0.4...i was told to put the bootanimation.zip in the data/local folder which i did..then i used terminal to load it up and it says no such directory or something.
So to be clear i was supposed to create the local folder myself right? data is in the root, then i make the local folder inside the data? it seems i'm doing everything right but when i power on the phone i dont even have an animation..it just goes from the M symbol to the phone on.
Working on changing my boot animation on my X (not rooted) I followed all the steps but get stuck on the reboot. CMD says this operation is not permitted. USB debugging is checked, and the phone is in usb mode.

View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst off, im running HC2.1,
1.Dont you have to root to be able to upgrade to a different software type? I rooted before in stalling greek35 2.1, then upgraded to HC2.1, do i have to reroot?
2. Rooting is just, using the update.zip file you download, then using droidroothelp.apk program, mount3, update those 3 things, flash 15.0, rename, reboot ect...so basically as long as you have SU app on your phone your rooted no?
Now boot animation question
I downloaded a boot animation, connected my phone with usb debugging, used the cd command and abd push bootanimation.zip /data/local, rebooted and the boot animation didnt change..after i used the push command, it said x.xkb transfered in 1.23seconds or whatever...any suggestions?
Is there a way to change the boot animation easy like the one click root method or a thread with easy detailed instructions if there is sorry i have not seen can u share the link .

View 2 Replies View RelatedYou need adb and root. choose and download the bootanimation from here Boot Animations NEW! - Android @ MoDaCo. then place the bootanimation.zip into c:/where.ever.you.have.it/androidsdk/tools/ change or remove where.ever.you.have.it to the match your system. then hit windows key and r together. type cmd and hit enter. then type cd c:/where.ever.you.have.it/androidsdk/tools/adb devices (wait for it to find your phone, also make sure that usb debugging is on) now type adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local. when its finished reboot and enjoy.
View 15 Replies View Relatedi just got a new phone (my first android), ive been trying to change my boot animation and cant seem to get it to work,i replaced the file which was named bootanimation_virigin.zip (also didnt think of renaming the original, so the original is gone), i even replaced the stock one which was named bootanimation.zip (also didnt rename it or back it up... -__-;; ) i made sure the files are correct and match up with the desc.txt file. i copied the original boot animation zip to my computer and just replaced everything, same number of files, about the same file size, same file type, same size and just put the folders "part0", "part1" and the desc.txt files back on my sd card and moved it to system/media/bootanimation_virigin, i compressed the files into a zip using root browser from the rom toolbox, i made sure that the compression was set to none, and then moved the zip file to system/media, i set the permisions to rw-r--r-- which is the exact same as the other boot animations. nothing shows up anymore till the phone is done booting but ill admit that it is definitely better than the stock virgin mobile animation...
here is everything i have for this boot animation (including: original virgin mobile boot animation, a video of the boot animation, all the pictures, and a folder titled "bootanimation_virign" which is the folder i moved into system/media)

i thought it was something on my phone but it was the way after effects renders jpeg sequences, i think it has something to do with the attributes of the jpeg file but anyways i just used a program called boot animation creator and it worked perfectly
I recently tried to get a custom boot animation on my Droid X and copied the boot animation.zip into system/media and now instead of a boot animation i have a black screen. How can i get the stock animation back on there? should i put my custom boot animations in data/local instead?

View 15 Replies View RelatedI was able to change the boot animation before Froyu using the procedure at http://androidforums.com/tips-tricks-evo-4g/109120-how-install-new-boot-animation-without-root.html.After Froyo, I've tried to push the zip file as VZW_bootanimation.zip and bootanimation.zip to both /data/local and /system/customize/resource (I can't write to that location, I think it's for rooted phones only). None of these four options worked. What am I missing? That native boot animation is nasty.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor some reason I lost the "Droid" sound when I boot. On any rom, stock, Liquid, some other Rom, custom ani's and everything. I think I even lost it when I upgraded to 2.2 non-root. Is there a quick fix for this (don't think I'm confident enought to start mod'ing bootanimation.zip files yet)? Or someone have an ani that I can push that has a confirmed sound with it to just see if I did something wrong earlier?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWas wondering if there is anyone out there on this forum that might make me a custom boot animation. I suck at photoshop. I have tried to do it but it looks terrible. The one I want should be simple (I think)for a person who knows what they are doing. All I want is the stock boot animation droid word highlighted in neon green like a lot of blue ones I see where it splashes blue with highlights and the red eye turned the same neon green with my name highlighted neon green like the word droid but name will be above the eye. Kind of like this but with my name from sort of beginning to end.

View 49 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to put a new boot animation on my motorola droid which is NOT rooted. I found this one particular tutorial on these forums on how to get the new boot animation without rooting. Here it is:
Extract the folder and run Setup. It will ask you to download files, do so.
Next, create your animation--I won't go into much detail about this... all I'll say is the only real specification is that they are .png and they are named in a way that they can be numerically ordered with the first frame being the lowest possible number. Here is the original zip file for the default animation: Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum
If you want just a single looping animation, simply put your frames into a single folder, preferably called "part0". If you have half your animation run once and the other half loop, put those two halves into separate folders--"part0" and "part1".
Modify the desc.txt to coordinate with your frames and folders. Here is a guide on the desc.txt: The desc.txt for boot animations works like this
Using 7zip found here: 7-Zip, create a zip archive of the folders and desc.txt with the compression setting as "store". Name this zip file: bootanimation.zip
Place this bootanimation.zip into the tools folder of the SDK. You can find the tools folder inside of the android_sdk_windows folder you extracted when you downloaded the SDK.
Connect your phone to your computer with USB. Mount your phone by clicking on the USB message in the notification bar. You will then need to run Debugging mode by going on your phone to: Settings > Applications > Development > USB Debugging. Make sure this is checked; you should get an exclamation mark icon in your notification bar.
Once you are connected, mounted, and in debugging mode, go to on your computer: Start > Run. Type in "cmd" and hit Ok. This will open command prompt.
You need to navigate to the android_sdk_folder from command prompt. If the folder is in your C drive and the letter next to your cursor is different, simply type: "c:" and it will switch to the correct drive. If you are on an XP machine and the folder is on your desktop, you will need to navigate to the tools folder by typing:
cd c:Documents and SettingsuserDesktopandroid-sdk-windows ools
...where "user" is your login name. THIS IS NOT ALWAYS THE ADDRESS, you can see the full path at the top of the open tools folder. The "cd" before the directory path is necessary--it tells the command prompt to "change directory".
If you have correctly typed in the exact directory your tools folder is in, you should see the entire directory path displayed to the left of your cursor on the new line. Now, you need to push the bootanimation.zip folder to your phone by entering in this line of text:
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
Once you hit enter, a second should go by and you should see that a certain amount of data was added to the phone. When you see this, turn off your phone and reboot. You should now see the new animation! You may need to unplug your USB cable before you turn the power back on. In debugging mode, it may display weird menu text when you boot up if you are still connected to the PC.
I hope this helps, I know I was in the same boat as a lot of you, I had to scrounge around to find all this info, don't know why it's not all in one place.
Now I'm stuck at the part where you have to navigate to the android_sdk_folder from the command prompt. I have the folder located in the downloads folder under my C drive. I type in the location of where exactly the folder containing the desired files is, but each time it gives me an error saying " " is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
