Motorola Droid :: How To Edit / Shorten Videos For Gmail?
Nov 13, 2009I was attempting to send a video I took with the Droid to a friend via G mail but it wasn't allowing me to attach the file because it was over 10mb. I then was surprised to realize that you cant edit movies in the gallery, does anyone know of a way or a app to do this on the Droid? Is this something that Droid i Doesn't do that i Phone DOES?

Nov 17, 2010I'm using myPlayer to download videos to watch during my commute. Even though the myPlayer app recommends arcMedia to play the downloaded videos, I've found that the default Videos app works just fine, and is a bit better thanks to the Dolby Mobile sound.
However... after downloading the video to the phone, the video takes an age to show up in the Videos app's list. I can usually prod the app into re-scanning the SD card for videos my unmounting and remounting the card, but that's a bit of a pain. Does anyone know of a way of just getting the Videos app to have another look for new files?
(I know, it's not a major hassle to remount the SD card, but I'm an ex-iPhone guy and used to the 'it just works' way of doing things...

Jun 5, 2010I do not have the option for "User Dictionary" when I press the settings key (button that looks like a gear at the bottom left of keyboard). I think its because of my location. I'm from Singapore and the keyboard that comes with it is a "CN Thai Keyboard". The settings button has a "abc" or "<chinese character>" below the "gear" symbol that toggles between chinese or english input when pressed. If held, some chinese input entry method options appear. No sight of an option to edit my user dictionary.
I want to edit the dictionary to remove wrongly spelled words I accidentally entered. I know the majority of you guys have another keyboard that came with your phone, and prob don't have this problem, but just wondering if someone from this forum might know..

I can click on the box, get the green selection graphic, but no cursor or keyboard to actually put anything in. Very frustrating as I can't add a link properly in the Facebook app, and I can't comment on one as I post it in a browser.

Sometimes editing a recurring event shows "Change only this event", "Change all events in the series" and "Change this and all future events" options, but other times the only options are "Change all events in the series" and "Change this and all future events". Does anyone know what you have to do to get the "Change only this event" option when editing a recurring event?

Aug 25, 2010So lately, I've been converting some videos to mp4 so that I can watch during my travels. I'm just using the generic player and access my video files through "Photo" I sorted the files by Name, but when i go to Photo to view my videos i realise the Videos are not sorted. So it doesn't go in number like 1,2,3, instead it's a jumble. Is there a way I can sort this? Also why does it do this?

Jul 16, 2010I use a little application on my computer called iPlayer Downloader. Basically it lets me download BBC iPlayer programmes as either mp3 or mp4 files.However when I copy one of the mp4 files to my Desire it plays but without audio. I've tried other mp4 files - one downloaded direct from YouTube and another via ZamZar and they work (as do the mp3's it produces of radio shows).I assume it's something to do with the audio format, but on the above the only difference on the non-working one is the Stereo format

Aug 21, 2010I've travelling soon and plan to bring some anime along to watch. What is the max resolution of videos I can convert to? I saw that the max resolution of the Desire is 480 x 800 but my video conversation software(any video converter) does not provide such an option. I googled and read on somewhere else that its 720 x 480. I am planning for MP4 format as I need to save space since my Desire only came with 2 gig and i want to maximize the amount of videos I can get. Would MP4 be the best choice? or like WMV or 3GP?

Jul 26, 2010I have just upgraded from an iPhone to the HTC Desire. I was looking forward to being able to play flash videos, after trying to play a few (from entensity.net) I can see the player, but pressing play results in only a yellow exclamation mark... Is there a solution to this or is flash support not quite there yet on android? (Btw according to the settings menu on the phone all software is up to date.)

Jun 8, 2010When I transfer HTC Desire videos from phone to computer, I can view the video but with no sound. This also happened with my old Touch HD. The sound works fine on the phone but the problem seems to be with the video. Has anyone else experienced this? It happened on both Windows 7 and XP. I have noticed the file type is .3gp. Does this need converting or something?

Sep 24, 2010I know this has been asked about the Motorola Droid, but I was wondering the same thing about the HTC Desire, Uploading you tube videos via 3g network. When I've taken a video using my phone, I have the option to share it by sending it to You Tube (annoyingly this creates another Google account on my phone, but never mind). More annoying is the fact that it waits until I'm connected to a wi-fi network before allowing me to upload it. Surely if I want to use my data allowance to upload videos to You Tube, that's my business, but I can't find a setting that allows me to change this. According to HTC, this is a change that T-Mobile must have made. I'm not convinced by this, but I'd like to know what other people have found, and whether there are any easy ways around it. Still being fairly new to Android, I don't fancy rooting the phone. I'm using Android 2.1.

Oct 12, 2010Bizarrely I seem to have lost all the videos I had on my SD Card. Including those I had recorded with my phone, these were in the same folder as the photos which are all still there.
Also missing are the films I had on there in a totally different folder on the SD card.
It is as if I have set it to search and delete anything that ressembled a video.
Anyone know how/why this could have happened.
I have rebooted several times, and removed and re-seated the card.

Phone rings ok
I can hear screen taps ok
My volumes are all up in the various phone settings
I can hear text and email alerts
Problem:
If I boot up the media player and select a tune, it plays but I cannot hear it
If I fire up a youtube video, it plays but again I cannot hear it
The only thing that works believe it or not is turning the thing off and on again. However a while or if I exit the youtube app or whatever it then looses sound again.
