Just trying to convert a few xvids to play on my desire.What software does everyone use for the job? I've heard good things about Free Video Converter but wouldn't mind paying for a superior application.If anyone uses Free Video Converter could they advise on the best settings to use for the desire?

I want to be able to use/view the video's I record with my phone on my computer. (open from an email or use in window's movie maker)I have a new computer with Windows seven at work and a Vista laptop at home. I can send the video to myself and try to open in from my email or tether to the computer and transfer the file manually. Either way I can't open with windows media player. Video's taken with default "Camcorder" app on a myTough 3G running Android 1.6.I know it has something to do with the codec's the phone uses but wonder why they wouldn't use codec's that are compatible with the most commonly used pc's?Is there any way around this? Some kind of converter for the computer or for the phone?Is there another camcorder app that can record video with a different codec or is it phone hardware specific?So far have been able to use these forum's to sort out most of my Android problems but I'm stumped on this one. It doesn't seem like it should be this hard to do. Should be more user friendly.
View 5 Replies View Relatedhad my g1 since it came out.Im trying to convert video files for it but everytime I do, the video player says it cannot play format it plays perfectly except it has no 'RW, PAUSE/PLAY, FF' options when I touch the screen.It keeps saying 'CANNOT PLAY VIDEO: Sorry, this video cannot be played. But it is playing the video just no options.I used SUPER C and followed all the instructions, converted like 7 different avi movies all the same.I used "MediaCoder' because you get to tweak the contrast, brightness and etc making video's picture perfect same thing though.I want to be able to watch videos on the G1.The YouTUBE apps is horendous and a joke compared to the iphone youtube app.

Problem:
If I boot up the media player and select a tune, it plays but I cannot hear it
If I fire up a youtube video, it plays but again I cannot hear it
The only thing that works believe it or not is turning the thing off and on again. However a while or if I exit the youtube app or whatever it then looses sound again.
How do I watch a .mov file on the HTC Aria? Can I convert it to a .mp4 or .wmv on the phone?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI know SOMEONE will ask why since the size of the screen makes the quality difference between DVD and Blu-ray near impossible to see.However, the point is, I have lots of movies on Blu-Ray only, and would like to watch them on my Droid on occasion.Now, I know there is a way, they have programs to convert Blu-ray files to DVD style files, or even directly to MPEG-4 format. Emicsoft, Apecsoft, iSkysoft, and 4U M2TS Converter. My question revolves around finding one that is good, since every one I have found has an absolutely useless free trial. You can only convert files that are small, you can only convert certain files, or they plaster a giant watermark over the screen making it near impossible to notice any quality issues. I'm not paying $30-50 for a program that may not be what I want, it's ridiculous. One of them had a function to merge all the files into one like Handbrake does with DVD files, but again, I could not test that. Worst case is having to convert from the Blu-ray file to DVD file and then use Handbrake to convert to MPEG4, I'm fine with that if that's the way it has to be.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Hero on three UK network a week ago and I love it!!! Anyway I have pretty much sorted it all out but have a slight problem when it comes to music. I currently have 5 gigs worth of songs I would like to transfer but only a 2 gig memory card. Using WMP11 I converted them to 64kbps and synced perfectly but then I realised that WMP had converted my mp3s to WMAs. For the first few minutes it would work fine on the hero but then it would suddenly stop and no more music would play. I also noticed that the temperature would usually jump from 27.1 to 44.2 while the music was playing. All in all my question is.... are there any free programs that will convert mp3s to lower bitrates which are still mp3 format and sync them to my HTC hero?

I want to know if you can play streaming videos on your web browser on your android os phone.
I'm using myPlayer to download videos to watch during my commute. Even though the myPlayer app recommends arcMedia to play the downloaded videos, I've found that the default Videos app works just fine, and is a bit better thanks to the Dolby Mobile sound.
However... after downloading the video to the phone, the video takes an age to show up in the Videos app's list. I can usually prod the app into re-scanning the SD card for videos my unmounting and remounting the card, but that's a bit of a pain. Does anyone know of a way of just getting the Videos app to have another look for new files?
(I know, it's not a major hassle to remount the SD card, but I'm an ex-iPhone guy and used to the 'it just works' way of doing things...
I've had my HTC Desire for a couple of months now and it's truly a great phone! Today my 32Gb micro SD card arrived for it and I set about moving my media onto it. I wanted to see if I could watch movies on my phone so I set about converting one from a full HD .mkv file to an .mp4 using handbrake. I read up on what the best parameters are and stuck to them religiously.I can play other videos on it no problem but when it comes to my own it just says that it can't play them, I've tried Meridian (which seems unstable as hell btw) but that doesn't help. My file is a couple of gigs in size when the encoding is done but I'm not short on space so that's not such an issue. I don't know why the phone is being so picky, can anyone please suggest what I might be doing wrong?

I know you hook up the mini usb cable to the Mytouch and then you can unmount the SD card so that you can view it on your computer but when I would put a video file, lets say .avi file. So far I only get this error message when the streaming media player launches: "Warning - Video is not for streaming play. Would you like to download the file." When I connect the phone I can see various folders including MP3, however there isnt one for either videos (or photos for that matter). Do I just create one purely for videos and then it will play once it is dropped in there or is there something I am missing?
