Android :: How To Edit Calendar / Entry Take Forever To Show On Widget?
Jul 3, 2010When I go to edit a calendar it'll give me a list of all the other times I used a calwidget calendar. Since it's so hard to find which one I used, how do I delete the list of available options to choose from? Also, I added an entry but it takes forever to show on the widget.

Jul 9, 2010I really need the ability to edit/delete one event in a recurring series, and i'm close to figuring out how to do it, but i'm not quite there yet. Sometimes editing a recurring event shows "Change only this event", "Change all events in the series" and "Change this and all future events" options, but other times the only options are "Change all events in the series" and "Change this and all future events". Does anyone know what you have to do to get the "Change only this event" option when editing a recurring event?

Jun 30, 2010I am trialing gcal because at some point i might switch to gmail and gcal completely from outlook/yahoo. All entries that i input in gcal sync to my phone fine but any new entries that i input into my phone do not sync to gcal. I have checked sync settings on my Desire are turned on for calendar and contacts. Syncing via mobile web instead of wifi. All previous calendar items have syncd to gcal but any new items that i put into my desire calendar don't sync to gcal or vice versa. I also can't get any of my contacts from my desire to sync to gmail webclient. (this is the first time im starting to use it for email instead of just android market).

Jun 30, 2010Last night I was reading a guide about improving battery life and one of the things mentioned was stopping Gmail syncing your contacts and calendars.
I'm a n00b so I wanted to ask some questions about this and how much it can help the battery, and also if it's worth actually leaving as it is. If you can shed any light on the queries below I'd greatly appreciate it
1. When I set up my phone I added people as Google contacts rather than Sim contacts but wasn't really sure of the difference and what it would mean. Is it just a case of the phone finding those people on your Gmail account if you select to add as a Google contact or is there more to it?
2. How frequent are syncs with Google contacts and calendars and what exactly is synced between my phone and my Google account? Is it actually battery intensive or does it make very little difference?
3. I set up a Google Calendar a long time ago and subscribed to my girlfriend's calendar, but have deleted mine and unsubscribed to hers today as I just don't use it. Does this mean nothing is then synced with the phone as nothing exists?
I'm trying to get my head around exactly how my Google account links with my phone and how it affects the phone.
HTC Desire :: Delete Entry From All People List
Aug 14, 2010I don't know how it's happened, but my Xbox Live gamertag is listed in the list of contacts when I go to "All People". There's no phone number of email address or anything attached to it, so it's a completely pointless entry. How can I delete it? There's no option to delete it when I press the Menu key and "All People" is the only place the gamertag appears.

Samsung Fascinate :: Calendar Widget - Display Next Entry On Calendar
Sep 11, 2010I played with the Fascinate today for more than an hour at VZW. I LOVE IT. My only question is related to the calendar. On my D1 I have many more widget choices including the calendar. This widget displays on my home screen and always shows my next appointment whether it is today or in a week. The next calender entry always shows. This is not the case for the Fascinate. It has a nice widget that shows weather, stocks, and at the bottom appointments. It only shows today's appointments. I downloaded a calender widget app that was nice and may work but it would not open so I don't know.
Now the question: Can any of you guys with the fascinate comment on a widget that allows the widget to display the next entry on the calendar. To be clear on my D1, if I have no calendar entries for today, my 10am meeting tomorrow shows up on the widget with a time and date. Can one do this with the Fascinate.

Aug 8, 2010I'm having a strange problem with a new appointment I've just entered in my Desire.Problem shows itself as follows:
1 Go to Doctor, get new appointment for 8:30am next Feb 14th.
2 Enter appointment into Desire under PC Sync calendar. Shows up OK in calendar.
3 Go Home. Sync with Outlook (2003 SP3) on home PC (XP Pro SP3)
4 Outlook shows appointment as 9:30am on Feb 14th.
5 Correct in Outlook back to 8:30 and re-sync.
6 Desire now shows appointment for 7:30am.
7 Repeat...
Off the top of my head, I'd say that there's a Daylight Saving / Summer Time issue here, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to go about fixing it.I live in Qld, Australia. Qld does not have Daylight Saving during Summer, but other Eastern Australian States do. I've only had the Desire for about 2 weeks, but no other dates have been increased/decreased by an hour when I've synced them. Google doesn't seem to be my friend (at least with the key words I've used).
HTC Desire : Can't Change Keyboard - Can't Select 3rd Party Text Entry Types
Sep 22, 2010I can't select 3rd party text entry types.
Go into Language & Keyboard - I see Big Buttons Keyboard, Swiftkey Beta and HTC_IME mod listed, all 3rd party keyboards I have installed.
I select one of them. It gives me a warning, I say OK, box is ticked. This keyboard is now selected.
I go to create a new SMS or enter something into the browser.
Stock HTC Keyboard.
I try again. Choose a different 3rd party keyboard. Stock HTC Keyboard.
Am I Just missing some essential stage in the process here, or is something messed up?
Motorola Droid :: No Date Entry - Edit In Contacts
May 26, 2010Doesn't seem to be a way to enter Date fields (birthday, anniv etc..) when creating or editing a Contact? Is this true? The "More" option only expands to Notes, Nickname & Website. I believe I've seen that Sense UI on the HTC devices allows Date entry/edit in Contacts, but I'm not seeing in stock Android 2.1 on my Droid. Surprised Dates can only be entered & maintained on the desktop.

Jul 16, 2010So Ive been messing with my contacts and exported them to Gmail where I edited them.I now want those contacts back on my phone as google contacts but don't know how to do it.In the people setting I currently have all my contacts saved as 'phone' but there are some errors. The ones Ive edited on Gmail have all the errors fixed.I have no contacts as 'google' in the people setting.Ive tried syncing with google (with contacts selected) but nothing came through. Could this be because I still had the contacts open in Gmail on my laptop ?I also tried selecting export from Gmail which created a CSV (or similar !) file, however this file was only a few bytes in size and when I saved it on the SD card and tried to import in people there was nothing on it ?So all I want to do is get the correct contacts from Gmail onto the people app on the Desire under 'google' contacts.I feel its something simple that im not doing right.

Jun 8, 2010just got the phone a week ago.i'm using Google Calendar exclusively for all my date keeping. it's great to see that the default calendar apps sync with google calendar (GC)now, in GC (the web version) i set up the default reminders for new appointments to be a) email and b) sms.i noticed that, in order to get notifications on my PHONE as well, i need to add c) pop up to it. tested and that seems to work fine. will that pop up show anywhere else as well though? i never used that notification option before.and i noticed the following two annoying things:
1) default appointment notifications not set when appointment made using phone calendar application
when i make a new appointment from my PHONE, it shows up on the web version after a sync, that's all very cool. BUT then the appointment does not get assigned the default notification options (email and SMS), it only has pop up. any way to work around that? can't seem to find options for that.
2) when appointment made via application, web version of the appointment shows me as a GUEST who has confirmed that's a bit rubbish?! i.e. the experience is totally different from the appointments i set using the web version of GC.

Jan 27, 2009I would like to insert a new event (start time, end time, and event name) in the user's calendar. How can I do that? I have the impression, that the SDK does not have the API for it (yet), but the G1 has the APIs. Would the CalendarProvider class the way to go?

HTC Desire :: No Edit User Dictionary Option
Jun 5, 2010I do not have the option for "User Dictionary" when I press the settings key (button that looks like a gear at the bottom left of keyboard). I think its because of my location. I'm from Singapore and the keyboard that comes with it is a "CN Thai Keyboard". The settings button has a "abc" or "<chinese character>" below the "gear" symbol that toggles between chinese or english input when pressed. If held, some chinese input entry method options appear. No sight of an option to edit my user dictionary.
I want to edit the dictionary to remove wrongly spelled words I accidentally entered. I know the majority of you guys have another keyboard that came with your phone, and prob don't have this problem, but just wondering if someone from this forum might know..

I can click on the box, get the green selection graphic, but no cursor or keyboard to actually put anything in. Nov 16, 2010I can't create a new entry in Calendar. When I long-click on a time and select New Event, it says "You must synchonize a calendar before creating a new event."
OK, so I try syncing to my Google account. But when I go into Settings in my Google account (Settings, Accounts, Google) I only see Sync Contacts and Sync Gmail. (Gmail syncing works fine.) I don't see Sync Calendars.
Furthermore when I go into the Calendar app on the Droid 2 and select More, Calendars, no calendars show up.
So I think there's something missing. I don't see a way to add the calendar to my Google account on the Droid 2.
General :: Call Reminder As Calendar Entry
Jan 26, 2012Is there any possibility to have a calendar entry remind a call with direct CALL action?I miss the old days when dumb phones had possibility to have a call reminder set up in calendar with a number to call.
I would prefer to have it in google calendar, no third party apps.
