I recently added two new contacts to my Desire. One has synced with my Gmail Contacts the other has not. I cannot see any difference between the contacts on my Desire. Can someone please tell what could cause one to sync and the other to not and how to edit the errant contact to get it to sync?

when i try to edit my contacts.. in some contacts " edit " button does not aapear ... and also it appears two times ... once as it is in Facebook and other as it is stored in sim ..

Yet for some reason this does not link with google,so it's not syncing my picture or details.Anybody know how I can do this? You cannot delete the main contact.though I can add myself as a new phone contact(but then I would have two.)

View 3 Replies View RelatedALright, so I just went from the original samsung galaxy to the htc desire and one of the first things I tried was to sync contacts with facebook. I only want existing contacts to be synced so I chose not to use the facebook for htc sense app as it will sync all facebook users and add them to my contact list (correct me if I'm wrong). So I tried to sync with facebook for android but nothing happens when I chose the account. I get prompted to sign into the app, which I do, I get into the app like normal, but no contacts are synced. Returning to the accounts settings page I cant even select the facebook. It is there to add but when I hit it nothing happens. I did sync with the official twitter app with no problem which I noticed with the samsung galaxy (running froyo) should be the same procedure. Kinda strange issue if you ask me... anyone else encountering this problem?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that one of my friends on their contact picture has lost the little Facebook icon overlay and that syncing with Facebook wont bring it back.
Their contact picture has been replaced by another blurry pixellated picture.
Further to this, I notice that the actual contact picture in Facebook for HTC Sense is borked and pixellated. Anyone seen anything like this before?
I am currently a newbie in the andriod market, jumped over from N900 to this phone hoping it would be easy but doesn't look like.
I tried to sync my Outlook contacts to the new HTC Desire, using HTC sync, (running Android 2.2) and it copied over the contact but only with their primary numbers and not all the numbers, emails or addresses.
I haven't tried anything else yet but surely I won't be the only one with this teething issue, can some of you guys give me an updates on this?
I was tinkering around before activating the phone. Aparently I have a 'me' in my contacts I guess is shown to other android users in addition to what they have my # saved as. I aparently entered jumbled letters for this and can't delete or edit it. I also have a few other contacts I made while tinkering that don't have phone numbers. There seems to be no way to delete or edit the 'me' or the contacts with no #s or even the contacts with #s. Except for adding a photo.
I tried everything I could think of, pressing and holding down the names and everything and sliding, etc etc in the 'people' app and when pressing the phone icon which bring up different screens. The names in my 'people' that don't have a # saved don't show up when I click the phone icon to dial, but that's besides the point.
My operation procedure is as below: 1. Execute Cupcake emulator with WVGA-P skin. 2. Activate Contacts application, and select "Contact" tab. 3. Press "Menu" key and select "New contact" option item. 4. Discover that the middle of current layout isn't represented.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have them filtered on the Handset so that only those marked as Friends or Family under Gmail contacts are shown. I can't help this as otherwise I'd have well over 1000 contacts to scroll through on my phone.
My issue is that should I add a contact on my phone it doesn't appear. This is obviously because when it's created it has no group membership. It still resolves against SMS etc but is not displayed in the Contacts list. I can (when near a computer) quickly jump onto gmail, manage contacts and put the person into the right group but ideally I'd like to be able to do this on the handset.
Is there any way at all of editing Google Contact Group membership on the handset? I certainly can't find the option if it exists. Alternatively is it possible to change it so when the contact is create on the handset that it automatically saves as a 'Friend'.
I own a Droid, and consider myself fairly savvy in the Android world, however my wife recently got the Ally and is having a problem editing her contacts. So when she initiqally booted up the phone it walked her through logging into google and facebook, etc, and it imported all those contacts into the phone, however, she wants to add in their phone numbers now, but its not letting her. We click on the menu button, click eedit contact, but then there is no way to edit or add phone numbers.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had some fairly simple code in my app to invoke Edit Contact activity on a known good contact index that worked in Android 1.6 but is broken for me now in Android 2.1 on the Droid. I built a sample activity/app 'EdCon' to show this:

When I run this on my G1 running 1.6 it works as expected i.e. brings up the Edit Contact screen for the known index and then I can hit BACK to return to "Hello World, EdCon". Code...
Is there anyway to re-establish or manually add the Facebook syncronization option to an existing contact in my Contacts app? I lost the Facebook sync icon in the contact information and this is inconvienent at best, and possibly is the cause of disabling the phone functionality at worse. Subsequent behavior on at least two occassions has shown that attempts to dial out using this particular contact locks up the dialer, causing multiple forces closes, and essentially disables the phone functionally both in and out of the phone for long periods time (10-20 mins) until the application can be correctly cleared and purged from memory.
I was able to successfully sync my Contacts with both my Google contact list and then all my Facebook friends. However some of the contact information was not exactly how I preferred and attempts to update that information using the Google contact list was not always successful. Not entirely sure if this is a bug or by design. I was able to successfully modify one contacts name with Facebook sync from first name first to last name first (to correct sorting to my preference). A second contact wouldn't modify no matter if I updated the name information on Google contact or on the phone itself. Finally I attempted to delete the contact and re-add it. This worked but now I lost its Facebook sync (no Facebook icon to click within the contact information). I'm not sure if this detachment is causing the dialer problems.
After syncing all my Facebook friends with my contacts (for complete-ism), I successfully deleted some Facebook friends from my contact list. But what if I want one back with Facebook sync, is that possible?
Under the 'Accounts & Sync' settings graphical OS menu, there are listings of user-configured Google accounts. Please could someone point me in the right direction to programmatically change the sync settings associated with one of these accounts?

1. I added a google account. Without asking it synced everything.
2. I turned off all sync except gmail.
3. But when I add a new contact it still warns me that it will sync it with my google account!
4. I tapped ok. Now by default the google account is on the top of the screen where I add contacts - obviously it syncs it.
Also, when I now go to settings > account > google account I can't seem to turn on/off settings. Eg if I touch an item that is turned on it starts to sync it instead of switching it on.
Obviously I could remove the google account altogether but I would prefer to keep it just for gmail sync. How to do this?
I somehow made my ICE contact as my contact card and now I can't find a way to edit "my contact card".

All my contacts are in my Gmail under contacts. I can not get my Evo to sync them though. I keep getting sync is not working, will return again. Sometimes the sync icon next to the checked box is froze. They were all in there before but I deleted people contacts from my phone. I wonder if this had something to do.

I am having trouble getting with syncing my contacts between Google and my Galaxy Note 2
Any contact changes made on the Google website show up fine in my phone contacts but the opposite is not true. Changes made to my phone contacts are always overwritten and revert to the original version saved on Google servers.
I do not have the option for "User Dictionary" when I press the settings key (button that looks like a gear at the bottom left of keyboard). I think its because of my location. I'm from Singapore and the keyboard that comes with it is a "CN Thai Keyboard". The settings button has a "abc" or "<chinese character>" below the "gear" symbol that toggles between chinese or english input when pressed. If held, some chinese input entry method options appear. No sight of an option to edit my user dictionary.
I want to edit the dictionary to remove wrongly spelled words I accidentally entered. I know the majority of you guys have another keyboard that came with your phone, and prob don't have this problem, but just wondering if someone from this forum might know..
