So my question is will the Htc Desire HD have huge icons because of the higher resolution and larger screen?
I see a lot of people complaining about the resolution of the Desire HD. I noticed Gingerbread is rumoured to raise the resolution cap. Would any phone be able to take advantage of this?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI love my Evo and I also love the resolution and screen size but one thing I don't understand is, why don't phones with larger screen sizes and resolutions have more room to put stuff on the screen? I mean, every page of the Evo can hold up to 16 (4x4) singles icons and more space is needed for widgets... but like with a computer monitor if you get a bigger computer monitor that also has a higher native resolution, you'll be able to put more icons on the screen. I don't understand why that isn't so with the Android UI. And, if you look at the icons on the pages... the actual square needed to put the icon there is usually a lot bigger than the icon itself. The only things I have seen that let you put more stuff on the pages are the Android tablets... even the Dell Streak which has a 5" screen and is still a phone can put more stuff on the page. I also saw a awesome hack for the iPad which you can get a crap load more icons and pages. So I am hoping that there will be a hack for this in the future. I will even root the phone if I have to.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI was working with Eclipse some minutes ago and I simply launched the emulator with a couple of AVDs that I created (QVGA, HVGA and WVGA screens). I've been doing thta for months, in order to check that every time I change something, the app looks fine for each type of phone.
The problem is that suddenly, the emulator in QVGA and WVGA start with huge icons on the desktop. They even overlap and the home of Android is corrupted. And when I run any application to test the emulator, the screen only shows a portion of the main View. It's like everything was zoomed in. I'm blocked because I can't use anymore the emulator. I'm going to remove completely Eclipse and re-install it, but I don't know if it will be enough.
In the end, is there an application that really is speed dial for Android, like the traditional way, and that it doesn't have any lag in it? And which would have larger contact icons in high quality photos? I am using QuickDial but i am frustrated by the time it has to load every time i click it, and thus is not as "quick" as it says.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIf I get a Desire with SLCD instead of AMOLED- does this mean the screen has a true 800x400 resolution instead of what has happened with the Pentile screens? I know, I know, its not really noticeable- but wouldn't hurt to ask right.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a program that should work on Android 1.5, but when it's run on newer devices with higher resolution screens, it should support the full resolution and not emulate a lower resolution screen. As far as I can tell from the documentation, this should be simple.
I just specify
code:.........
The problem is that if I tell Eclipse to compile for 1.5, it refuses to accept this. It reports an error (targetSdkVersion is an unknown tag) and refuses to compile or run. If I tell it to compile for 1.6 it works fine, of course. But if I then try to install on a 1.5 AVD, the program immediately crashes with a java.lang.VerifyError. I'm clearly missing something simple. How do I get it to compile an apk that works under 1.5, but still includes the targetSdkVersion tag?
So if the Desire Hd has the same screen resolution as the desire then the screen on the Desire Hd will look worse? And then would be a downgrade?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe Android docs indicate that I should ship with different icons for different resolution phone screens. This does not work when compiling with Eclipse for the Android. Does anyone has an example of a manifest file that works for multiple resolution icons?
View 1 Replies View RelatedNot having much luck with this. For some reason the icons on my home screen are stupidly small. How do I get them to a more legible size?Their dimensions are currently 256x256, which I only just noticed but they come out smaller than 48x48 on the home screen.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI read on here somewhere that I could add the 3 icons to my homescreen, very very useful but now my boyfriend wants it on his phone and for the life of me I can't remember how to do it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I try to add a contact icon (from a saved image on my phone), my Magic saves a low-resolution version of the crop I make.
When I dial the contact, the picture looks HORRIBLE (it seems like the resolution is about 50x50px or something). I tried making contact icons from photos made with the phone or from high-res images that I transferred from my PC, but the outcome is always the same: the resolution of the icon is too small.
Is there a way to solve this problem? There's no point having a low-res image in a high-resolution image placeholder.
Not sure where the issue lies, with Android itself or launcher pro, but I have a strange issue where the icons on the bottom row of my home screen are out of alignment.
The two on the left, SMS and Mail, are widget icons for counters and the two on the right are direct app launchers, but yesterday they stared to show out of alignment.
android 2.1 installed on hero, but non of voice commanding/recognition apps work because "google voice recognition" haven't installed & i can't find it on market, any suggestion?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've just got myself a Desire since last week and I am really really happy with it. It's my first android phone (previously had a Nokia N95) so I am still trying to get my head around it.
I've just realised that the phone is using massive quantities of data over the last two or three days. I have installed an app to show me how much and it is saying over 4gb, a lot of it during the night when I have not being using the phone.
I have obviously been using the phone a lot since I got it but nothing close to that amount. The most data hungry app that I can think of that I have used is Grooveshark and that was only for about 20 minutes. Also I have gone into all the apps I can think of and made sure that they are either set for manual sync or else no more than once a day. Is there a way for me to tell which app or widget or whatever is using all of this data? I am sure I have forgot to change the settings on something but I cannot figure out what it could be.
So I've had my DHD for 3 days, done a little 3G browsing the usual stuff Facebook, emails etc., but nothing more as I used my home WiFi for the widget and app downloads. But today I got a text from Vodafone saying I was near my internet usage limit for the Month! Within 3 days!? I have a 750MB limit, which the chap in the shop assured me was enough to keep me happy as 'no one ever goes over that.'
I was happy with that even though my previous contract was unlimited internet as he said it would be ok. All I can think of is the email syncing, so turned that off. But what else could be causing me to go over the 750MB limit within 3 days? Surely thats a huge amount to be used?
Ive changed the icons on my home screen and the mail one keeps turning back when i receive a email.
View 10 Replies View RelatedAny apps that will make everything larger on the screen in Android?
I have found something that makes the fonts bigger but what about the rest of the stuff including icons, address book and so on?
I need to be able to see the stuff on the screen.
IF I have a choice, should I go android or windows and why should I chose one over the other?

Someone who got a hold of the Desire HD claims that Neocore scores 56 fps. The Galaxy S scores 55 in that test. Pretty much even.
This proves that the Galaxy S really does 45M triangles/sec rather than 90M that was wrongly reported a while back.
Linkpack gets 35.8 which just shades the old desire.
This is my layout that suppot delete from listview ,the problem is when listview height is higher than screen height it goes under the button , so need a solution for avoding it
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm a former iPhone user. I was happy with the iPhone but got bored with it. I'm still getting used the EVO. I love the screen size and the notification system. One thing I'm concerned about is the resolution. I've noticed in apps such as MLB At Bat it is not as crisp as the iPhone and the video in the app is not as crisp as it was on the iPhone. I don't think the resolution is bad but it concerns me that it will start to really bother me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to alter the default screen resolution of the Android emulator (and by extension, the Android device) to work at 1700x1200. In other words, I need the screen to be able to display unique points over that range. I have set the dimensions in my layout file, yet the device still defaults to 320x480. I've set different dpi densities, but to no avail.

I saw that the max resolution of the Desire is 480 x 800 but my video conversation software(any video converter) does not provide such an option. I googled and read on somewhere else that its 720 x 480. I am planning for MP4 format as I need to save space since my Desire only came with 2 gig and i want to maximize the amount of videos I can get. Would MP4 be the best choice? or like WMV or 3GP?

I have 4 boot animations that I want to convert to work on my Nexus 10 full screen.

I just got my incredible and the screen resolution seems poor. I just compared it to my droid and the droid looks super crisp whereas the incredible looks more like my old storm 1.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe EVO looks like a sweet phone, and if they ever bring it to Verizon with some LTE love, I'll probably buy one, but does anyone wish that they increased the resolution of the screen just a little to take advantage of that big 4.3" display? Maybe the next gen will. All in all, it looks like a great device, but I don't think it's going to save Sprint.
