View 7 RepliesIf I get a Desire with SLCD instead of AMOLED- does this mean the screen has a true 800x400 resolution instead of what has happened with the Pentile screens? I know, I know, its not really noticeable- but wouldn't hurt to ask right.

So my question is will the Htc Desire HD have huge icons because of the higher resolution and larger screen?
I've been adding, and uninstalling, I've been noticing some installed apps that I don't seem to be able to add to my screens, or use.
I was wondering what these were.
They are: -
Rosie Utility
Teeter
and
Street View (Okay I KNOW what this one is, but how do I add it to Google Earth/Maps)
Also I've noticed that on the pattern lock screen. There is a message that says, "This phone belongs to". How do I personalise this with my name?
Just watched this video about the screen responsiveness on the Desire vs the Samsung Galaxy S. These are the two phones I'm considering, so I just wanted people's opinions on it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVlsRCMltDg&feature=player_embedded

View 20 Replies View RelatedAfter the screen goes off after 1min (or whatever you have it configured to) is the only way to get it back on to press the power button at the top of the phone? I find it a little awkward - can't I just press the button on the bottom front of the phone?
View 21 Replies View RelatedI've travelling soon and plan to bring some anime along to watch. What is the max resolution of videos I can convert to? I saw that the max resolution of the Desire is 480 x 800 but my video conversation software(any video converter) does not provide such an option. I googled and read on somewhere else that its 720 x 480. I am planning for MP4 format as I need to save space since my Desire only came with 2 gig and i want to maximize the amount of videos I can get. Would MP4 be the best choice? or like WMV or 3GP?

View 3 Replies View RelatedRecently my phone only shows my pictures in low resolution until I zoom in a tiny bit, then suddenly it sharpens into the full quality image. Is it suddenly displaying low res thumbnails for my images until I try looking at them? It never did this before, and it's not a 2.2 change as it started doing it a day or two before I updated it.

What should resolution should I use? Is there possible to have just one picture on the home screen that is locked?
I see a lot of people complaining about the resolution of the Desire HD. I noticed Gingerbread is rumoured to raise the resolution cap. Would any phone be able to take advantage of this?

View 5 Replies View RelatedHow do I find out if my Desire screen is AMOLED or SLCD, as this seems to be important for rooting? There is nothing that makes sense on the box sticker, but then it IS an Orange phone. If I power up so I can see the HBoot info, it also says "Touch Panel Synt 0101". Does this mean anything? It's HBoot 0.83, and dated June 10 2010.
View 19 Replies View RelatedYesterday I updated my HTC Desire to 1.21 ....And today I noticed that when i have the screen with more white than any other color (like the notification screen for example) the screen flickers, and it does this with little horizontal lines...
I also realized 2 things:
1. it flickers when the automatic brightness is on and I am inside (so the brightness was set to under 25%)
2. It flickers with battery fully charged once the voltage got under 4.08v, it stopped..
Has anyone seen this on the desire after the update or before? Is this normal? Is my phone faulty?
Is there any way to prevent the screen from sleeping while downloading stuff or playing games?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been using this phone since June, and the camera quality always is something that I hope can be improved on HTC Desire. Previously, I shared a photo to my friend, and he told me that I use a 4MP camera. I was shocked, because it should be 5MP. He's using a photo viewing software that can display photo details. Anyway, I had a look in the camera's setting, resolution 5MP (2592 X 1552). I curiously multiply two numbers, 2592 X 1552 = 4022784 which is 4MP.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it just me or are 99% of applications are very low resolution and all the pictures look very dull and fuzzy.
The new facebook update looks crisper, so the phone cleary has the capabilities but why aren't developers making apps to the highest resolution?
I'm considering selling my 5/6month old Desire to fund the purchase of a sim free HD.
Hopefully I'd only end up spending around 150-200 for it.
Is the jump up worth it? I'm a sucker for upgrade and I have to say the HD looks nicer than the Desire, but obviously it's what inside that count. Apparently.
One big thing is the whole htcsense.com thing, and with confirmation of the Desire getting support for that still quite unclear and apparently unlikely, I'm leaning towards getting the HD...
I've been having reception issues with Orange and they are sending me a new handset to see if that is the problem. If I drag all the data from the old SD card to my computer and then back over to the new SD card, will that keep all the setting form the HTC backup settings? Or do I have to point it in the right direction.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSadly I didn't realise how bad Virgin are in my area, so I'll be cancelling my contract with them and moving back to o2...
Unfortunately this means I'll have to return the handset and get a new one from o2...
Does anyone know if there's a way of moving my apps or being able to download them again on the new handset?
I just got an HTC Desire that was locked to Telus (Canadian Carrier). I have read that numerous people are using it on Rogers network. From the day I got it when I put my rogers sim card in (the right way) it said "No SIM card in phone" so I could not enter an unlock code. Thinking the SIM was defective went to Telus and tried one of their sim cards and it worked fine, then I went to Rogers thinking it was a problematic card. We tried 4 cards and none of them worked. I then went to Bell (another canadian carrier) and tried their sim card. It worked as well but said that the phone was locked. I purchased an unlock code from the internet which worked. Now the Bell sim card works as well becuase the phone is unlocked. I put my Rogers SIM back into it and it still sais "No SIM card in phone". I also tried a SIM from a european company and it did not work as well. This HTC Desire works on the same 3G 850/1900 GSM that Rogers uses.

If anyone is interested, I will provide more info on how to install the patch and where to d/l it from.My desire is rooted but S-ON and odexed. It only works on rooted phones.I love this feature that only comes on DHD & DZ as part of the new sense 2.0 ui as standard.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.
I have posed this question in some threads but as yet have made no progress.I am just curious as to why HTC appear to have left out the Bluetooth Voice Dialler function that can be provided by the Froyo 2.2 O/S. I believe this feature is present and enabled in some of the cooked roms and also in the Nexus one Vanilla 2.2 so why not here?If I have missed somthing simple or if anyone is aware why it is missing or how I can activate it that would be fantastic!

Somehow the phone automatically resets the Authentication setting and there I can't send email.
My question: how can I prevent the Desire from automatically place a checkmark next to "Authentication Required"?
