View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a program that should work on Android 1.5, but when it's run on newer devices with higher resolution screens, it should support the full resolution and not emulate a lower resolution screen. As far as I can tell from the documentation, this should be simple.
I just specify
code:.........
The problem is that if I tell Eclipse to compile for 1.5, it refuses to accept this. It reports an error (targetSdkVersion is an unknown tag) and refuses to compile or run. If I tell it to compile for 1.6 it works fine, of course. But if I then try to install on a 1.5 AVD, the program immediately crashes with a java.lang.VerifyError. I'm clearly missing something simple. How do I get it to compile an apk that works under 1.5, but still includes the targetSdkVersion tag?
I went to verizon to deal with my silent issue. The option was to get a new or refurb phone, that doesnt have the OTA 2.1 update. Well, what is the point, if once I get the update, I have the same issues again?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a new android user, and got my Droid 2 the morning they came out at the Verizon store. Now the guy that was helping me at the store told me that the battery life would be bad because of the high resolution screen but I didn't expect it to be this bad. I have been having really bad battery issues and I don't even use it constantly. I have it on around 20% brightness during the day, and I really only send text messages, and some web browsing but not a huge amount. My battery will be drained after 6 hours or so, and will need a charge again. When checking on battery manager it does say that most of my energy is going to my screen, but like I said I don't even have it close to the full brightness. I have been using an app killer program to try to maintain that also, but I did read somewhere that it can actually hurt your battery more, from closing and opening apps. Just wanted to hear some feedback from other users since we a couple days after launch. Everything else has been great with this phone, and I am REALLY enjoying the android OS after switching from a Blackberry.
View 49 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if anyone has figured out yet what the best resolution and/or aspect ratio is for custom contact photos? Most of my contact photos come from Facebook, but some I will edit on my PC and load onto the phone's SD card. I know there are issues with decent photos becoming low-res pixelated, so I'm wondering if I start with the best size and/or aspect ratio, maybe the phone won't have to resample the photos itself.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm a former iPhone user. I was happy with the iPhone but got bored with it. I'm still getting used the EVO. I love the screen size and the notification system. One thing I'm concerned about is the resolution. I've noticed in apps such as MLB At Bat it is not as crisp as the iPhone and the video in the app is not as crisp as it was on the iPhone. I don't think the resolution is bad but it concerns me that it will start to really bother me.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to alter the default screen resolution of the Android emulator (and by extension, the Android device) to work at 1700x1200. In other words, I need the screen to be able to display unique points over that range. I have set the dimensions in my layout file, yet the device still defaults to 320x480. I've set different dpi densities, but to no avail.

I have 4 boot animations that I want to convert to work on my Nexus 10 full screen.
Also, how to be able to edit [URL] to show 10 instead of 4 or completly remove the number so it works nicely on both my Nexus 4 and Nexus 10.
I just got my incredible and the screen resolution seems poor. I just compared it to my droid and the droid looks super crisp whereas the incredible looks more like my old storm 1.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThe EVO looks like a sweet phone, and if they ever bring it to Verizon with some LTE love, I'll probably buy one, but does anyone wish that they increased the resolution of the screen just a little to take advantage of that big 4.3" display? Maybe the next gen will. All in all, it looks like a great device, but I don't think it's going to save Sprint.

Is it true, that most of the apps from the market don't work well or dont work at all, because of the lower resolution than normal android phones ( 240x320 vs. 320x480 ) ???
This seems a big issue to me, and im surely not gonna buy the phone if this is true.
As i own a Samsung Galaxy with 192Mb RAM i know that memory is a big problem on Android phones and am wondering how much memory does the tatoo actualy have, considering different info on different sites? Does it have 256 Mb of memory and does it work well?
How is the phone performing overall, what are the main pro's and con's?, a question for the current users
In android, to support all the screen resolution, i have created the layout, layout-small, layout-large folder in res folder, and i have .xml file in all the folder. I can get the output in normal screen and small screen resolution, but in large screen emulator i am getting the xml file in normal folder.it is not reading the xml file in large screen emulator. i am using Android 1.6

View 2 Replies View RelatedWith Android, you can define different resources for different phone attribute by naming res directories appropriately. I need to be able to support different layouts for 480x800 and 480x854. I figured I could have one set of resources stored in the layout-hdpi-v4 directory and another in layout-long-hdpi-v4. However, both resolution seem to think that they are long (at least based on the emulator, which I understand may not reflect devices accurately). Is there another way in which I can distinguish between the two resolutions/aspect ratios?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone else experience this? You pull out your phone from your pocket, unlock the screen, and BAM instant headache. It's like the mind eraser from MIB. I love this screen! I was a little hesitant to order based on the flak the N1 screen got regarding resolution and fuzzy text, but I've found the improved vividness of the colors more than makes up for the very slight degradation in sharpness.

I specifically want to use it for MyBoy since the app blows up the size on my Note 2 and it doesnt have as good clarity if I could make the screen smaller.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am writing layout file for Droid Milestone. I set the directory to layout-854x480, but it doesn't work at all.
I then use:

To print the screen size and then get 569x320. I then change the layout directory name to layout-569x320. Then the layout file works. I have a G2 and know it's 480x320. And I see the MS screen contain more pixel in wide direction. I am using SDK 1.6, eclipse+adt
In my android application, I would like to support multiple screens. So I have my layout xml files in res/layout (the layout are the same across different screen resolution). And I place my high-resolution asserts in res/drawable-hdpi

I am developing Android Application using SDK 1.5 and testing application on HTC Hero, its firmware is Android 1.5.
Let me come to actual point: in application, i am having an imageview for displaying image (Image resolution is 320*480), now imageview is displaying image in full-screen perfectly, but when i am trying to test it on HTC EVO 4G (having resolution 480*800), image gets stretch.
So, what i like to do is want to display 320*480 resolution image in all screen-resolution mobile ? i means to say,if the mobile is of higher resolution(i.e. 480*800 , 480*854, or else) than the image should be displayed in "Center" portion of the screen.
So displaying image in Center in all screen (without stretching or cutting) resolution other than 320*480, what attributes i have to set ?
For anyone who has used the N1 and or hero and the legend, how does it compare? Is the 3.2" screen noticeable? Is the low Resolution noticeable? also can you have the Live wallpapers on this phone? Thanks.
View 1 Replies View Related Yesterday I updated my galaxy s2 to android 4.0.3 and was very happy with the display resolution. I also loved the simple sky blue colored background which I can't find it later after playing around with themes.
Since I am a fan of Go Launcher theme, I inadvertently changed the theme to something else. What I noticed is that it updated my screen resolution as well. All of the sudden, I start seeing big icons and Widgets clogging the homescreen. The sleek look of ics is no longer visible. It was very obvious from the settings window that the screen resolution is changed (to smaller resolution). I was very disappointed and hence removed the theme. Unfortunately it didn't restore the display settings.
If the latest updates really has higher resolution than gingerbread then is there a wway to restore that for my phone? I thought of doing factory restore but reinstall of all the apps and configuring them is no fun.
I am new to android, how to create an app for different resolution i am trying to develop an android app using imageview and textview. I am using the standard AVD (800) for testing. Now all the images seem dis-arrayed when i use it for other resolutions. I am wondering if the solution is through coding wherein my design will adjust itself to the screen size automatically?
Secondly, when i use the auto-rotate feature, again all image placings get dis-arrayed. I am also looking for solution that will allow my images to maintain the placings when rotated.
I want to change the screen resolution of my device and I have an sh script for it.
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
am display-size 1280x800
am display-density 160
How do I create a flashable zip file that can execute this script?
