Loving my DHD, using for 5 days now.
I do have a problem/query which I can't find an answer for.
My screen goes dim after 10 seconds of no use and then a few seconds later turns off and locks the phones.
How can i extend this - when reading from the web, it takes me longer than 10 seconds to read stuff but I have to keep touching the screen.

Is there a way to extend the delay of the pattern/PIN screen lock to several hours? Lock Delay does this for 2.1, but I read that it doesn't work well with Froyo.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to have a phone lock on the Desire, in the way it is used on "normal" phones? What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

I would like to extend from 10 minutes, the standard maximum possibility on Ics for lock the screen. Do you know if it is possible? I was supposing it was some parameter on the system.

Also I've noticed that on the pattern lock screen. There is a message that says, "This phone belongs to". How do I personalise this with my name?
I want to turn off the screen and lock the phone fairly often, and am getting fed up with groping for the power button on the top. I am also worried that, over time and regular use, it will stop working. I am looking for a simple application that will do it for me - at least turn it off, I suspect that turning on will be more of a challenge. Has anyone found a simple one that will do that for me - all the ones that ought to do it on the Market seem to be very complicated with lock screens and skins and so on

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried googling and searching for applications, but ironically, all I've found is people with the opposite problem - who are lucky enough to be asked for a password, but don't want it? Just got my HTC Desire, it is really amazing, but I HATE the stupid lock screen 'pattern' - I am amazed there doesn't seem to be any actually secure option considering the amount of important data the phone may hold (access to email in 2 clicks from home screen + no password = epic fail), especially as when I had a quick go to see what would happen, the pattern seems to allow unlimited attempts - just have to wait 30 seconds between every 5 .Turning my phone off whenever it has to be unattended is just ridiculous, even though I doubt I'll ever let there be a need to, I still want to make sure things are secure.Is there any way to replace the pattern with a PIN or password? Preferably free but I won't mind paying for an application if it's the only way.

View 2 Replies View RelatedNot sure where to post this but i am gonna do it here and hopefully it is helpfull to someone.Just watched this video over on the dailymobile.se website and some guy goes through how he has customised his nexus with different apps and there is one for diabling the lock screen and using the power button to wake it up without having to swipe to unlock.He uses an app called "No Lock" and i am now using it and it saves me valuable finger swipeing time.How to customize your Android phone with different apps (video)Also there are a load of other customisation he has done but he goes through that aswell and names all his apps etc.

If I try to lock the phone it kills playback. I would really like to be able to lock the screen whilst media is still playing through the headphones.

Sometimes I turn on phone and its there and sometimes its not. I have phone set for a pattern lock and to set up after 5 minutes.I just turn my desire on sometimes by pressie the top bottom and the finger slide thingy..isn't even there.This can be after 10 minutes or 3 hours no difference.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI kept rejecting phone calls whilst pulling the desire from my pocket, so I have switch the lock screen using lockbot to a side swipe instead, this is working very well.However, now when i receive a call it jumps straight to an answer or decline screen which is just as easy to reject by mistake.Does anyone know a solution this problem? I suppose what im looking for is to have to unlock the phone before answering the call.

The only one I could find takes 6 seconds before it locks.
WHY does the screen not extend all the way to the bottom of the phone? or WHY did they make the bottom of the phone extend past the screen?It just looks dumb. It actually amazes me how engineers designed this and thought "Yes, this is a good idea" or "Yes this looks good"..

It goes to voicemail far too early, but I cant see how to change it in settings at all.
I have had my desire since friday and have had no problems with it at all, in fact it is my favorite phone.
However today the incoming sms messages i was receiving were being delayed by almost two hours and it has happened several times throughout the day.I am on the orange network and the coverage in my area is excellent.
Any help would be appreciated.
Has anyone worked out if it is possible to set one of the buttons on the bottom of the Desire to bring up the lock screen rather than using the power button at the top. Only just got the phone 3 days ago but this is (sor far) the only niggle I have.

I am working on a game that displays its graphics through a modified SurfaceView.The game scrolls around a map based on the location of the main character.That all works fine.I am trying to add a feature to the game that allows you to touch the screen and drag the camera around to see other parts of the map.This is where I am running into trouble.The game's SurfaceView overrides 'public boolean onTouchEvent (MotionEvent event)'to call another method in the game's thread which handles the events.Sometimes, this works fine (although the frame rate drops significantly while the screen is touched).Other times, there will be a delay of several seconds before the game responds to a touch event, during which time the game continues, but the user loses all control.During these delays, a message sometimes appears stating that my activity is not responding, and giving the options to 'Force close' or 'Wait'.If the user selects 'Wait', the game almost always resumes right away, but these delays are obviously not acceptable.The delays occur only the first time the screen is touched after the game is started.Once the game has resumed after a delay, the touch events work just fine again.
