My friend has just got a Desire and is having a problem with her contacts. She has chosen to just put contacts in People manually and link them to Google and Facebook manually, which is fine, but when she goes to call or message someone, the phone brings up all of the contacts on her phone (e.g. the Google and Facebook ones) rather than just those stored in People. This is really annoying as it means she has to scroll through loads of people she'll never want to call/text. We've tried going to Accounts & Sync and unsyncing contacts but that hasn't worked. Any suggestions?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone know how I can stop my Sim contacts showing up when I go to text someone. I am also getting my phone contacts also so its double contacts I am getting when I try to text. Just want one or the other. Not both.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have noticed in the text message app if I create a new message and click the icon button next to enter recipient to choose a contact from my contacts there are contacts from just about everyone who has emailed me on my gmail account! This is not ideal at all.. I Would like just the contacts in my phone to be available. How do I remove all of those gmail contacts.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi have an htc desire, and when i tap the power button to put my phone to sleep mode, or power saving mode, it wont ring or make a sound when i receieve a text message.how do i solve that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI took my phone out of sleep mode to respond to a text message, only to find I couldn't get the keyboard into landscape mode. I then found that the trackball wasn't working, and the phone seemed as if it was moving through puddy. When I tried putting it to sleep, the screen would dim but not go black. I eventually had to remove the battery to resolve the issue. The next day, the same thing happened.
Both times, the issue happened at around 8 o'clock. I thought thru what apps I had downloaded recently, and looked through Astrid To-Do. I found it had scheduled back-ups at 8 o'clock. I turned that off, hoping that it would fix my problems. The next day, at 8 o'clock, my phone randomly restarted. That was all. No overheating, no hanging, and it booted up just fine. The next day, it rebooted again, but I don't know if it was around 8 o'clock. Today, just about an hour ago at 2:30, it rebooted again, with no overheating or any other problems.
I'm at a loss about what could be causing this. I uninstalled Astrid To-Do app completely now, but I'll have to wait to make sure that fixed anything. I have about 7 days left before my 30 day return policy kicks in, but I moved to Boston from Iowa to go to college, and I would have to mail it back, which I would prefer not to do (cost and time without a phone being the major issues).
I'm running:
Firmware 2.1-update1
Baseband version 2.05.10.06.29
Kernel version 2.6.29-e9066436
Is there a way to do it? I cant seem to find an option. Want to copy them so I can have my contacts pictures show in their proper resolution.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAll my contacts are stored on my phone, whats a step by step way to transfer (duplicate) all these onto my Google contacts and vice versa?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new Android/Google and set my Desire's contacts up onto the phone. I have just realised the benefits of putting everything onto your Google account, and how it auto stores and updates your addresses, numbers, and emails etc. is there any way to change your phone contacts to Google contacts? without having to type them all out again. I can not seen to find how to do this.

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow do people prefer to save their contacts? To Google or to their phone? At the moment mine are on my phone, but I have been told there are several benefits to saving them to Google. Is there a way of transferring them from my phone to Google? Or do I have to re-enter them on either the phone or a PC?Also, if I add a person's birthday in my phonebook, will it automatically appear on the calendar?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a way for me to move all my phone contacts to google contacts?
View 8 Replies View Relatedhave noticed my contacts are set to google but for my own reasons, i'd rather not have my numbers stored on some server somewhere.how'd I change existing contacts into the d fashioned phone only contacts?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have read the search results, but just a simple question. When you sync items, phone/pda/pc etc, you get the oppertunity to choose which item takes priority if say mobile phone number has been changed in two devices. How does this work between google and my phone.I don't want to spend ages today getting my contacts just right on google via my pc to find they all go wonky when it syncs later on.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how i can copy or move all of my google contacts to the phone, i would prefer all my contacts to be stored on the phone rather than googles servers.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI added a contact on my PC (http://www.google.com/contacts) which then got sync'd to my phone. I pasted the phone number in from a website, which began something like this: "+44 (0)207..." When I dialed the number on the phone, a recorded message told me that voicemail settings had been changed, and to hang up and dial again in five minutes. Immediately, an SMS message arrived from ">pers", saying "Network message - please delete", followed by a load of random gibberish. Looking in the Call History, it appears that the phone ignores the brackets, and dials, "+44 0207..." which is incorrect. It ought to know that numbers in brackets after the country code are only used when dialling locally without the country code. Calling that incorrect number (I don't know if it's the specific number I called, or just that prefix) somehow connected to some aspect of the (T-mobile UK) voicemail system. I wonder what setting I've changed?Googling suggests that the SMS from ">pers" is some sort of phone-configuration message that is normally supposed to be intercepted by the phone. Anyway, bottom line is this - if you add contacts to your Google account on your PC (which is sometimes very convenient, and a great feature of the Google system), be careful to remove any unnecessary area prefixes.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI thought it would be a simple case of syncing/exporting the phone contacts to my gmail account, but can't see this option?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have searched around on this and other forums, looking for the answer to a question that has been bugging me since before the weekend.I got the HTC desire on friday (love the phone!) and have got to the point where most of the things are set up how I want. I have used HTC sync to import my contacts from Outlook where they were already set up how I wanted. However I can't seem to be able to import these contacts back up to my Google account though. I have turned on all the sync settings and checked these, but nothing seems to work.I tried creating a dummy contact in my google account and prompted a sync from my phone which pulled this down ok. So this would indicate that the sync seems to work one way, but wont pull my contacts back up the other.I don't really want to re-enter all my contacts into my Google account to get the sync working properly plus I am assuming this will create a duplicate of every contact already on my phone.
View 29 Replies View RelatedI've recently (today, earlier & just now) added a few Google contacts to my phone. They don't appear in my contacts on my GoogleMail web page. I've manually synced them on the phone and refreshed the web page to no avail.I created one much earlier on (maybe even yesterday) and it's there. If I create a new contact on the web it appears almost immediately on the phone.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am new here, and just got my new Tattoo, (love it). But I have 2 questions
1. How do you send a text message to all of your contacts?
2. I have inserted a wrong notification on the calender, and cant delete it. How do I delete it?
I can't figure out how to add someone from my contacts to a text message without putting in the number. When I type in a name it only brings one name up and will not show the rest...example I type in Bethany and it will only show Bernita. What gives?
View 2 Replies View RelatedHow would I use the SQL DB info and such to get info about contacts and text messages?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there a hack to allow more then 10 contacts in a txt message. I have a group that i need to send messages to every so often and it has 77 ppl in it and doing it 10 at a time is annoying. I know my BB was unllimited. I saw a hack for the windows Op sys. by going into the regedit. how about on the droid system?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAlright so I REALLY need to create a group contact folder. You see I have to manage about 10 guys and its convenient that they all have cellphones whats NOT convenient is I can't find a way to put them into a group and text them with one group message! I need to make sure these guys show up to where they are needed and texting all 10 of them separately is a pain in the rear end. So far the other threads don't seam of any use.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs I am a new user I do have a question. When I try to compose a text message in the Messaging app my contacts do not show up whether I search by phone number or by name. My contacts are synced with my phone through my gmail account. I am able to see my contacts as well as go into the contacts app and send a text from there. Is there something that I am doing wrong or perhaps just not getting?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen i want to compose a new text.I tap the face icon top right and when my contacts come up 95 % are there twice.Meaning name twice and number. But if i close out and go to all contacts, groups, update events etc.It does not show double contacts.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI dont get it.how do you create a group to put contacts into, which you can send a message to, instead of writing to them one by one?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the Samsung Fascinate obviously but I'm annoyed with one Android feature. I managed to get only my contacts to sync what I want (not e-mails). However, when I send text messages, the message contacts seems to all the e-mail addresses I've previously sent e-mails to.
Is there any way to get rid of that? And why the heck isn't it the same as my contacts?
I got google voice to route all of my calls but im not sure if text messaging is going through it for free? I didn't find any settings to change my messaging.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhy is when I send a text message or an email it automatically adds them to my contacts?
