HTC Desire :: Sync Phone Contacts BACK To Google Account
Apr 8, 2010I have searched around on this and other forums, looking for the answer to a question that has been bugging me since before the weekend.I got the HTC desire on friday (love the phone!) and have got to the point where most of the things are set up how I want. I have used HTC sync to import my contacts from Outlook where they were already set up how I wanted. However I can't seem to be able to import these contacts back up to my Google account though. I have turned on all the sync settings and checked these, but nothing seems to work.I tried creating a dummy contact in my google account and prompted a sync from my phone which pulled this down ok. So this would indicate that the sync seems to work one way, but wont pull my contacts back up the other.I don't really want to re-enter all my contacts into my Google account to get the sync working properly plus I am assuming this will create a duplicate of every contact already on my phone.

May 4, 2010I've recently (today, earlier & just now) added a few Google contacts to my phone.They don't appear in my contacts on my GoogleMail web page. I've manually synced them on the phone and refreshed the web page to no avail.I created one much earlier on (maybe even yesterday) and it's there.If I create a new contact on the web it appears almost immediately on the phone.

Aug 19, 2010So back when I first got my phone I was putting in contacts the dumb way selecting "phone contact" rather than putting them in under my google account. I also have a bunch of contacts recovered from backup assistant. Since I am constantly flashing new roms it has come to my attention that there isn't always Verizon Back up Assistant support on them. Take for example CM6-RC3, I love the rom, totally and completely....except when I try and run Back Up, it says it isn't compatible with the program and recommends uninstall. So my specific inquiry to all the great rooted Dinc users out there is, is there an easy way to turn all those annoying "phone"/old non google contacts into google contacts without doing each one individually on my computer/phone?

I start saving them to phone instead of Google when giving the option, thinking i could just sync whenever i upgraded ROMS. I was wrong i lost some contacts, restoring older ROMS. So for future references I will save to google, I just want to know if the current contacts now can be saved to Google grouped or i have to go in and do them individually.

I get the following message, This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults. You do that in settings, under privacy. Is there anyway to do it without resetting the phone? I dont want to reset it as i the phone is rooted, has custom ROM with over 100 apps.

Sep 4, 2010My desire suddenly decided to quit syncing with my google account. Also the market is not downloading update anymore.
I do have internet connectivity either on 3G or wifi. I can browse, use weather, Ross and news etc. just when I go in menu-settings-sync and press sync ... nothing happens
I already rebooted a couple of times nothing works? any suggestions?

"Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

I have my phone set to sync contacts with my Google account; however, whenever I add new contacts to the phone they are never added to my Google account. General :: Razr M - No Google Account For Contacts
May 9, 2014I rooted my Razr M (XT905) to remove a bunch of the pre installed apps.All worked fine and phone runs great. But I cant import my contacts from my google account. Gmail and app store syncing works fine, just contacts are missing.
When I access the options menu in the contact section, google isn't showing. When I look at the accounts in the settings menu, the google account is there and has the option checked to sync 'people details' (guessing this is the same as contacts).
So I'm guessing I've deleted something when removing the apps.
