Android :: Way To Have Group Contacts / Text Message
Mar 16, 2010Alright so I REALLY need to create a group contact folder. You see I have to manage about 10 guys and its convenient that they all have cellphones whats NOT convenient is I can't find a way to put them into a group and text them with one group message! I need to make sure these guys show up to where they are needed and texting all 10 of them separately is a pain in the rear end. So far the other threads don't seam of any use.

Oct 18, 2010I love Handcent and I know it's super-easy to send message to a group of contacts but I have two questions that I have not been able to figure out:
1) is there a way to create a group and name it instead of having it appear as just a list of people?
2) whenever I send a message to a group it shows each individual message getting sent...is there a way to 'consolidate' this so when I send a message to the group I only see the message I sent once instead of once for each contact it is being sent to?
HTC Desire :: Sending Text - Can't Figure Out If Sending A Message Via Facebook Or To Mobile Number
Jun 24, 2010I have a friend who is added to my Desire's contact list.
1. He is on my Facebook contact. (His facebook pic appears in my Desire contact list)
2. He is my Gmail contact as well.
3. He is added as a 'Phone Contact' as well.
I sent him a text few days ago but don't remember if it was using facebook or my phone (network provider sms) but now when I go in to 'Messages' and send him a message, I just can't figure out if I am sending him a message via Facebook or to his mobile number.

Feb 1, 2010Anyone have this happen when you go to send a text? Normally, I'll type in the first few letters of the persons name and it will come up with some options from my contact list. Certain contacts don't show up when I do this.

Aug 15, 2010For example last night I went swimming. After my swim I got out and texted my friend "Hey man I'm done swimming, whats up"? Today I check my phone and I see that the same message got sent again randomly. I did not send the text again but somehow my phone re-sent that text, and literally Erased the original message that I sent myself.
Same thing happened the other night - I sent a text apologizing to a friend that I couldn't hang out with her. The next day the text got re-sent to her somehow, and she responded with "what are you talking about?". I was like "Idk wtf happened my phone is randomly re-sending texts to people". What's going on? I don't think this ever happened before the latest software update.
HTC Desire :: Group Text - Get Message Pending
Jul 8, 2010I have come across a compelling problem with my Orange bill since getting my Desire. I set up a group in contacts and a number of times have attempted to send a group text. There are about 8 people in that group but when I pressed send I would get message pending.
Some members of the group would not receive anything whilst others would get a text hours later.
I tried a couple of more times last month then gave up.
This week my bill came with a 10 charge for photo messages, as if I would use this crap way of sending pics when I have access to email. All the group messages were charged at 25p per person.
To give Orange their due, they will reimburse me the money on goodwill but I certainly won't be trying the group thing again.

Feb 11, 2010As I am a new user I do have a question. When I try to compose a text message in the Messaging app my contacts do not show up whether I search by phone number or by name. My contacts are synced with my phone through my gmail account. I am able to see my contacts as well as go into the contacts app and send a text from there. Is there something that I am doing wrong or perhaps just not getting?

Mar 25, 2010My wife and I both got Milestones about a month ago. So far so good; we're trying to keep up with the kids on technology. Anyways, we discovered we're unable to receive texts with pics, but are able to send them to iphones users (who can receive them). I asked about it at the Telus store, thinking it was a setting or something, and she said "smart phones can't receive pics by text, you have to email them". Doesn't really sound right... The choice to send a pic by text is an option in the menus, and it seems from reading the forums here that at least in the US, it's possible with the droid. So is this a Telus issue? No big deal, we're just wondering what's up. Even our daughter with a non-smart phone can send/receive pics by text.

May 18, 2010I have a small but very annoying issue sending texts sometimes...Basically my office has an intermittent signal so occasionally my connectivity drops. If this happens while I'm trying to send a text the message just sits there with the 'processing' animation (the spinning circle thingy) going constantly - it rarely times out and outright fails, usually just continually tries even when I'm back into a good signal area (I've even left it in a good signal area and checked hours later to find it still trying!). I've tried going in and out of airplane mode or even turning the phone off and on to try to get it to just fail so I can send again but nothing makes it give up or succeeed. When it gets into this state the only way out seems to be to delete the message and enter it again. (for info I'm using Handcent, but checking in native message service shows similar effect so don't think thats related)

Dec 30, 2012I have noticed in the text message app if I create a new message and click the icon button next to enter recipient to choose a contact from my contacts there are contacts from just about everyone who has emailed me on my gmail account! This is not ideal at all.. I Would like just the contacts in my phone to be available. How do I remove all of those gmail contacts.

Aug 12, 2010If I send a text message to multiple recipients it sends as an MMS. I understand that this happens by design on some networks if you're sending a text to more than 10 people at once, but I was only sending the same text to 2 people. I'm with T-Mobile and I have unlimited texts as part of my contract, but MMS messages cost 20p each, so obviously I don't want this to happen. Can this be changed so the messages send as regular texts?

Jul 27, 2010My sprint HTC hero for some reason will all the sudden stop allowing me to get text messages and mine that I send don't seem to reach the phone I am sending it to. It will stop working out of the blue and start back up. The only reason I know that it stops is because the person I am texting shows me that they never received a message from me and I never got one from them. My phone does not tell me I cant receive or send it just stops and I never know. When it starts working again it does not ever send the messages I didn't receive.

HTC Incredible :: Sending A Text Message - Show Person's Name And Phone Number More Than 20+ Times
Aug 10, 2010When sending a text message, I click on "new message," then type in the person's name.
When I do, it will show the person's name and phone number more than 20+ times! It's actually doing this for every contact I have, but only when I'm searching for a name when I'm trying to send a text message.
It doesn't affect my sending or receiving of messages, but it's a little annoying.
Just noticed that when I click on the "People" icon from home screen that some of my contact names are listed more than a dozen times!

Apr 26, 2012When I text the number it fails, I double checked, the number is correct, I deleted his contact and noticed a capital N in front of his number. I manually typed his number to text and again it failed to send and again it had put a capital N in front of his number

Jul 9, 2010I've been using Handcent since I've had my Desire, but since the last few updates it seems to have developed a fault when sending the same sms message to multiple contacts. If I send a message to say 3 people, it either force closes, or comes up with the error message not sent. If it comes up with the latter, the messages are queued & sent 1 after the other. I was able to do this no problem before, so has anyone else experienced this in Handcent?
