Apr 28, 2010I got google voice to route all of my calls but im not sure if text messaging is going through it for free? I didn't find any settings to change my messaging.

Android :: Google Voice - Text People Or Send Them A Message On Facebook
Apr 25, 2010I've been using Google Voice on my Env Touch for about a year now but only mainly for the sms transcriptions as the Env Touch doesn't have an app for it.
So, here's my main problem. All of my contacts are just in my phone. I don't have anyone's email address as all I do mainly is txt people or send them a message on facebook. I'm wanting to add all of my contacts to my gmail account so when I get my Incredible everything will be there. Right now my sms from GV just has the number and I actually don't know any of my friends numbers, they're just in my phone. *yes, technology can be a sort of burden at times* So I don't have a clue who the voicemail is from until I call into it. Is there any easy way of porting all these contacts from either my phone, backup assistant, or facebook? Also, do android phones take your contacts and your facebook and merge them into your gmail account?

May 26, 2010when ever i get a message, its always says 'Transcript not available'...so really the only differnce of having google voice now having an email, a text and the voice mail thing saying i have the same voice message, oh and i have to use another number for voice mail...so whats the point of having google voice? does it do anything besides fail to transcribe voice mails, or is that the main feature of it?

Aug 24, 2010Google voice has been sort of flaky for me since I started using it.
I use my old number, and I only use google voice for voicemail, I have it set up on my phone and in google voice.
Sometimes if I decline a call they will get a verizon error message. And today out of boredom I called my cell phone from my work phone and it just rang...and rang...and rang....and rang...and voicemail never picked up. But then I got a notification from google voice that I had an 18 second long message which was completely silent. I did it again, same result.
I logged into google.com/voice and confirmed that my greeting is set up.
It's sad, because I love google voice. But if voicemail doesn't work then it has no value...I can't have people calling me hearing error messages or never getting to leave a message.

May 11, 2010For the regular texting you can send a copy of 1 text to 10 people, on google voice I dont see an option for more than 1.
Online however I see that 4 is the max.
Can I somehow send to more than 1 person via the GV app on my inc?

Jun 18, 2010I'm having a problem with Google Voice. When I get an incoming text, I don't get any notification for it. I have inbox notifications checked, but it doesn't happen until I manually open the GV inbox, or sometimes not until I open the inbox and the specific conversation the message was a part of. This is true, even 8 hours later. So if I don't check my GV inbox/conversations for 8 hours, the phone gives me no notification of a message. I know this is not normal because a month ago I was having no problem with this. Could it be that I started using ADW Launcher a couple weeks ago? I haven't heard of any issues with this caused by ADW before Another thing I've experienced weird is the Gmail app. This morning I received 2 e-mails at about 7 and 8 a.m., though again I got no notification in the status bar and I had no idea I'd received the e-mails until I manually checked the Gmail app, even though notifications are enabled. This hasn't been a problem until a couple days ago. Thirdly, sometimes a friend will text my GV number and it will send to make phone's message inbox, not to GV. This only happens with one contact, and even then not all the time. My friend says he sends all of the texts to the same number, but I suspect he has my old number still in his phonebook and sometimes he just selects the wrong number, so I don't suspect it to be related, but this issue started happening at the same time as the other notification issues, so I thought I should include it.I would be very grateful for any help/advice you guys could provide!

May 14, 2012Any app for GPS navigation which has voice routing possible in pedestrian mode? I sometimes need to go to some destination in a part of the city which is not familiar for me.
However, the navigations I tried, have voice routing only in car mode, so it has to take in account things like driving directions etc. which the pedestrian does not have to respect and thus the track is much shorter.
It would be nice if I, for example, just could get off the bus, switch my GPS on, select destination, activate the voice routing and put my phone in a pocket and let the navigation voice guide me to the target place. It would be more comfortable as I sometimes see the map very poorly and also have to keep an eye on other pedestrians, cars etc.
Currently tried Sygic and it does not have this.

1. it doesnt group text from one person all together and i get multiple text group for a single person. is there an app or method to group text from one person all together?
2. every time i get a notification of google voice sms, i click the sms and it goes back to the original text opened awhile ago. i then have to click back, then goto the inbox toread the new text rather than reading the new text right away when i click on the notification. is there a way around this?

I can't imagine that it could not have come from the phone. Maybe from that Facebook Touch app as that application had a lot of SPAM just within the application itself (its not deleted).

Sep 13, 2010I've been messing around with Tasker for the last several days, and it's raised a concern I've had with android itself. Is there a definitive answer to how audio is routed? I see that there are at least 6 audio stream types: call, system, ringer, media, alarm, notification. I also see (using Smart Volume or Quick Settings, etc.) that there are corresponding audio volume controls for each of the above.
My question is, which speaker do each of the audio streams get routed to? Obviously, there are different setups for when the headphones are plugged in and not. Here's what I see empirically so far: When the physical headphones are unplugged, the system, ringer, media, alarm and notification streams get routed to the external speaker. The call stream is routed to the earpiece.
When the headphones are plugged in, the alarm and notification streams seem to be routed to the external speaker (speakerphone, I guess). The call, system and media streams get routed to the headphones. The ringer stream has been behaving oddly. Sometimes it comes through the headphones, and sometimes through the ext. speaker.

May 12, 2010My dad was planning on getting an Android phone soon. I told him that he could go ahead and cancel our texting plan because he'd be able to text from Google Voice. But he was asking what about the people who already text him at his regular number. So I was wondering can you get Google Voice to redirect texts to your regular number to your Google Voice number so it would be free. Is that possible? Or would he have to give out his Google Voice number to everyone?

I noticed that I no longer got text messages on my google voice app on my phone or on the google voice site. As far as I know, when you install GV you signup and then get a #, from there I give that # to everyone to text me (not my cell phone #) and GV just stays on in the back ground all the time waiting for texts?
And, does this use the data connection to do all of this or use the phone miniutes?

Dec 5, 2012I had my number ported to Google Voice and have been using it to make and receive calls for the past two weeks. I was also using it for texts, or so I thought, but yesterday I found out (by looking at my friends phone), that after I sent him a text, my carrier's number was the one that showed up as the sender, instead of my Google Voice.
I thought Google Voice automatically used your Google Voice number for texts too? Am I doing something wrong in the middle?
