View 22 RepliesHow do you instruct users to report a bug in Android? I'd like to get send detailed instructions to my users to get the most of their bug report. I know there are various apps that send bug reports from the device and I was wondering how other Android developers deal with this.

Gizmodo, the Gadget Guide My brother in law has already been complaining that his 3gs is way too slow. My heart bleeds.

This is not the common iMessage issue that was plaguing me when I made the switch from Apple to Android. This is specifically affecting one iphone user. When I send her a text individually it is not a problem. The other iPhone users don't have a problem receiving or sending to me.

How Android, BlackBerry and iPhone users see one another | Android Central
This morning I installed update 2.17.61.2 and since then I've noticed a fault with the auto-rotation feature. For things such as internet, SMS inbox, email inbox etc. the screen view is stuck on landscape and will not auto-rotate back to portrait when I tilt the phone
Also I tried playing Teeter and the ball doesn't move no matter how much I tilt the phone. I've tried resetting the G-Sensor Calibration but it doesn't resolve the fault.
Do you think that was the method to their madness behind this Samsung galaxy s device? Thinking that they would make something as close to the iPhone as possible for Android? Clearly it was no accident.
- same app screen
- slides app screen the same
- same looking app icons on app screen
- same green phone icon
- same bottom row dock space for 4 apps
- same phone design and size (galaxy being slightly taller)
- etc. (If I missed anything)

Re: Not receiving txt msgs from anybody with an iphone. - HTC EVO? 4G (Sprint) - Android Forums - HTC Community
We have a web application and we've built phone applications (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry) to be companions to the site. The usual workflow is that an existing user of the site gets a phone app and then plugs their existing credentials into the phone app and they are off and running, but more often now we are seeing folks who are downloading the app and then (and this should not surprise anyone) don't read the help screen that explains they need to go and get credentials at the web site and therefore cannot connect to the application which does require registration to manage their content. This is a giant usability fail condition.
So we know that we need to put user registration workflows on the phone app. Other than the obvious solution of duplicating our registration page on the mobile, does anyone know of a better identity solution for the phone? For example, on the desktop we also use Facebook Connect as an identity server and the users love it. I'm looking for something that simple that we can implement across the major smartphone platforms.
Clarifying note: I should add here that this registration mechanism is likely to; and it would be desirable if it did, go hand in hand with a general identity/authorization mechanism such as the Facebook mechanism mentioned below. One other place I'm poking around is to see whether there's an openId solution that does not require a browser to pop up.
Yes, unfortunately I have friends with iPhones. With iOS4, they can basically do a group text chat that has all the users receiving the messages from everyone in one location and all messages are saved. This is basically like a chat group using text messages. My question is whether android has any apps that can allow us to "join" these chats. I asked my friend to add me as a user to the chat but all that accomplishes is letting me get individual messages from each member of the chat. If I wanted to reply to the group, I would have to reply to each one individually.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm porting an iPhone app to Android and I'm having trouble designing an interface that looks and feels "Android." I've read all of the design documents in the Android Dev Guide and looked through all the Google-designed apps, but I feel like the layout of activities is largely undefined. Are there any resources that could help me transition my iPhone design to the Android platform? Here's a quick example of one of my issues. On the iPhone, every view that presents user generated content gives the user a "+" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen to add an item. It's consistent across the built in apps, and it's *mostly* standard among third-party apps.
I don't know what to do with the "+" button on Android. The guidelines say important actions should be present on the screen and not hidden within a menu, so let's say I put it on the screen. It shouldn't go at the bottom of a long list of items, because the user shouldn't have to scroll down every time they want to create a new item. That leaves me with a static button. But there are no standard toolbars, so I'm going to design my own iPhone-esque bar at the top of the screen with a "+" button? I know this probably sounds like a rant, and I'm sorry. I feel it would be worthwhile for someone to sit down and document how common iPhone UI practices should be transitioned to Android apps. I care a lot about UI design - I think it's one of the most important factors in app development -- and I'd hate to see every transitioning developer approach this differently. At any rate, does anyone know of existing resources that might help me out? What's the best designed app you've used for Android? A few examples of great "Android" interfaces would go a long way.
I recently ported my number from T-Mobile to O2. Now when texting, status reports always remain at "pending". Is this a phone issue or should I contact O2?It used to work, and then I called O2 to disable the auto USSD balance notification after every text. After that, texting Balance to get my balance stopped working too.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHey any good multi-player poker apps like the Zynga one for iPhone you could reccommend?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a particular problem with the Desire in the format of the delivery report for the messages. It only says 'received', or sometimes 'pending'. I have done some tests, and the pending status does not change when it's actually delivered, and sometimes it will say 'received' when the phone the message is being sent to is switched off.
I used this function (on my trusty old Sony C905) to send messages to phones when they were off, the delivery report would come in with the date and time that the phone was switched on and the message delivered.
Is there an app that I can download to do better management of message tracking? Hopefully the same app that will let me see arabic characters as mentioned in my other query.
My current cell phone contract will expire in February, and I am weighting between getting an iPhone and an Android phone in the U.S. I am looking for opinions and experiences of previous iPhone users who have switched over to Android.
1. Why did you switch?
2. Are you glad that you switched, or do you regret it?
3. What are the advantages of iPhone over Android?

I'm thinking of installing this app, as the rom that I'm using allows to be over clocked and under clocked, i believe. What i want to know is, what is it all about? i have seen the terms mentioned and all that, but I'm not entirely sure what its all to do with, what will the advantages be? and what is the best way to use it?

Im based in Winchester Hampshire England and am a student in University
Would be great to find where you guys are from given I read your work everyday!
Recently rooted and now running a MoDaCo 3.1 rom.
So far I have discovered Set CPU, which seems great for saving battery.
Has Anyone else found any decent battery saving root apps that I could apply?
Also, what are your favourite root access apps?
I have rom manager and tried adfree android, but that didn't like editing the hosts file and didn't block the ads I hoped.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have been using XMLRPC for android and it was working well until we got our hands dirty with Base64 encoding for byte[] (images) -- (we did base64_string.replace("/","$$") for transmission). We have tried undoing the changes and its looking like an XMLRPC error. We are getting the following error in the DDMS:
06-10 23:27:02.970: DEBUG/Test(343): org.xmlrpc.android.XMLRPCFault: XMLRPC Fault: [code 0]
06-10 23:27:02.970: DEBUG/Test(343): at org.xmlrpc.android.XMLRPCClient.callEx(XMLRPCClient.java:308)
06-10 23:27:02.970: DEBUG/Test(343): at org.xmlrpc.android.XMLRPCMethod.run(XMLRPCMethod.java:33)
Just before this I checked the body (xml message -- which is perfect) and the response received:
06-10 23:27:02.940: INFO/System.out(343): Response received: org.apache.http.message.BasicHttpResponse@437762f8
Since the message is not even reaching our cloud, the issue is mostly with XMLRPC for android.
Really need this to be working in Orange 2.2, whenever we get it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedT-Mobile UK user here. I've searched through this forum but can't seem to find anyone else reporting this.I've had a G2 for approx 3 weeks now, however, the thing just won't sync Gmail as it should - either via Auto-sync or by manually trying. I've had a G1 for the last 12 months so feel experienced enough to know when something's not quite right. I am using the G2 in exactly the same locations as the G1 so it cannot be a reception issue. I've tried sending test emails from my work email address to my Gmail account: Out of the 10 test emails sent over the space of 8 hours, only 2 came through (the G2 was on Auto-Sync the whole time). The others eventually came through via a combination of manually instigating Sync (1 success) or, in most cases, having to switch the phone off and on - even this only worked twice. Whenever I sent emails from work to G1 they would appear on the phone instantly. There isn't a prob with the emails leaving my work domain as I can see that they have all been delivered successfully viewing my Gmail account over the web. If I leave the phone on the Data Synchronization screen, the round sync indicator is constantly running next to "Google Mail" and intermittantly pauses with the error message that "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shorlty". have also found that the reception doesn't appear to be as good as the G1 - I work in central London and live 10 miles south of the river.I'm running FW 1.5 Kernal 2.6.27-a5504199 Software 1.0.0.A6288
