View 4 RepliesI use handcent and have delivery reports on cuz I think it's helpful to know if a text actually went through. Starting around 2 weeks ago, text messages sent through handcent would report as 'unsuccessful,' and the orange icon would appear next to it instead of the green checkmark. The messages are going though, but the report says otherwise. I've reset my phone, battery pulled, uninstalled handcent and reinstalled it, toggled the settings, but the issue remains. I even tried using chompsms for a whle, but had the same problem. However, if I send through the native messaging app, the texts will report as 'delivered.' I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across this and figured it out. It's more of an annoyance than anything, and I can live with it, but it sucks having lost some of that functionality seemingly out of nowhere.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently ported my number from T-Mobile to O2. Now when texting, status reports always remain at "pending". Is this a phone issue or should I contact O2?It used to work, and then I called O2 to disable the auto USSD balance notification after every text. After that, texting Balance to get my balance stopped working too.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a particular problem with the Desire in the format of the delivery report for the messages. It only says 'received', or sometimes 'pending'. I have done some tests, and the pending status does not change when it's actually delivered, and sometimes it will say 'received' when the phone the message is being sent to is switched off.
I used this function (on my trusty old Sony C905) to send messages to phones when they were off, the delivery report would come in with the date and time that the phone was switched on and the message delivered.
Is there an app that I can download to do better management of message tracking? Hopefully the same app that will let me see arabic characters as mentioned in my other query.

class MyApp extends Application{
public void onCreate()
{LoaderThread t = new LoaderThread();
t.start(); }
private class LoaderThread extends Thread {
public void run()
{ SystemClock.sleep(2000);
boolean res = m_handler.post(m_runnable);
if(res)
Log.d(TAG, "Posted Runnable"); } ............
I wish to know how in java I should receive these parameters. I do know how to deliver parameters via adb shell am start command but I still have a problem to get them in java (android) code.
My class extends InstrumentationTestCase and not Activity class!
So I cannot perform: this.getIntent().
I anderstand that I need to create intent doing: Intent intent = new Intent(Intent.someAction);
Can you help me to find out what action should I use here.
I also read that there are secondary attributes: category, type, component, extras. I know that I also need to update the manifest file accordingly. Sorry for so many q/a.
I have looked and looked for a solution to this problem and have not found one. I see others are having the same problem though.I have the Droid X I am using the messaging that the phone came with not an added app (I am on Verizon). When I try to reply to a text from my husband I get a message saying "unable to deliver. Please re-send with area code". He is in my address book with an area code and the callback number has the area code. But next to his name it does not have the area code (again, it is entered in my phone with an area code). I have tried to delete his phone number, text my phone with his phone, and reply, but that still does not work. It is so frustrating and weird. Even when I do not have him in the address book the call back number (shown as cb#) has the area code, but up higher when his name would be does not have the area code.

1 - Dropped calls - no matter who or where I am calls drop about 25% of the time. I can be sitting at home doing nothing but talking then drop.. it happens alot.. starting to annoy me..
2 - Failed to send texts - I am having a text conversation then a random message stops and wont deliver - retry - retry again - wait a minute or 2 and retry - it works.... this is getting very anoying.. again about 25% of the time.
3 - Internet connection - (3g) - after about 4 or 5 clicks it will lock up and display page not found... wait about a minute - retry and again it works... this is about 40% of the time
4 - my friend sends me a text message/ missed call with a new number. I cant add it to an existing contact - it only allows you to add a new contact. plus copy and paste doesnt work at these points. - i end up having to write the number down and then edit the contact.
5- T9 - when I add a word to the library - it doesnt remember the word in my text - I have to type it in again and then it predicts it (minor but annoying). this phone is awsome as a gadget - but pretty crap as a phone. any one got any advice on how to help ?
I just logged into my Verizon Online bill to check if my Google Voice settings are working.
I am seeing my cell number listed for a bunch of calls with the description "CL DELIVER"
Any idea what that means?
Since my number is showing up, I think it is being billed as Mobile to Mobile minutes, which are free, so it's not a big deal. Just wondering what it means.
What is the most efficient way to deliver the same set of functions on different mobile platforms (Windows, Blackberry & Android, possibly iPhone)?What are your real life experience of the conversion of a common design to the minimum possible sets of source code? What are the good/bad tools?

I can't for the life of me use Log.v() to report the value of R or G or B. Everything I'm doing draws a red line under v or something when I try. I've tried toString() and everything.
How do you instruct users to report a bug in Android? I'd like to get send detailed instructions to my users to get the most of their bug report. I know there are various apps that send bug reports from the device and I was wondering how other Android developers deal with this.

Any apps out there that will allow me to access or listen to my phones microphone either via another cell phone or via the web?
Preferably an app that runs in stealth mode. Any additional features would just be a plus but aren't necessary.
I am recently doing a graduate research on the accelerometer in mobile devices. Accelerometer is a MEMs device built in almost every smart phone nowadays. I am interested in finding what information does the hardware accelerometer report that the software knows the raw values X, Y, Z to detect the orientation in which the phone is held?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy Galaxy S comes with a built-in Google Maps application. It is not installed by me and hence it does not appear under Manage Applications and I do not know how to tell what sort of information it is accessing. But according to the Privacy Policy of the application, it sends my position to Google, together with my phone number and email address. Does anyone know how often this data is sent to Google? Is it a few times per second or is it every so many meters I have moved.

We ran core tests by the command "/development/testrunner/runtest.py - v --coverage core" and got coverage report successfully. But the reports says all are 0%. We ran apidemos and got coverage report which looks good.
Below is the console output for core tests:

So I wonder why core tests's coverage report says 0% and how can I make the report make sense.
I posted a free app and I've got a couple users who posted a comment saying that the app force closes in google's feedback. It's got a few hundred downloads in the day it's been up with an 84% retention rate. Google's error report in the developer's console says it has 0 errors. I've never had an app that reported any errors in the console. Does it actually work or am I getting fake reports of force closes? I'm a bit suspicious competitors might be posting the comments, but I don't have any way to confirm that the error reporting google provides does actually work.

I found a typo on the guide section at developer.android.com, but I can't find a link/email to report the typo to.
I don't want to report it on the Android Developers Google group, as its a typo and not a technical question.
Anyone have an email address or link I can use to report typos?
The GMail-App on my Xoom and my Nexus S (both with Android 4.0.3) is driving me crazy. In former times I could easily report mails as no spam.
That doesn't work anymore. Instead I guess it should be possible to mark the mails and label them as "Inbox". But that doesn't work, either. With some luck, it works with 1 or 2 mails, but the rest stays in SPAM, even though at first they disappear from the spam-folder.
Isn't there a way to do that? Why is there no real option to mark the mails as no spam?
Just got this badass i9000 and loving it! I am Using 02, and before on my old ericson, you could do setup a template with *0# at the begining of every message to do a Delivery Report (lets you know that the recipient got the text by texting you back automatically) so everytime you wrote a new msg you could use that template with one click... Is this possible to tag every outgoing SMS with *0# automatically or setup templates? Otherwise how using 02 can I get a delivery report (normal setting for delivery report dont work for 02)
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have searched for hours after a solution to get delivery reports for sms in my Xperia X8. What I understand there is no way to get proper delivery reports, that is a report AFTER the message has been delivered to the recipent. I have used several sms apps like Handcent and in this program I choosed the alternative "report when the sms has reached the recipent". No delivery report was shown. I sent an sms to my older phone, the sms was receieved but no delivery report was shown. In my older W595 this was no problem and I use the same SIM card and same telephone number.
Is the Xperia X8 such a lousy phone and the developers such amateurs that they didnīt include such a simple function in a mobile launched in 2010? Hoping for some tips! Perhaps there is an app that fixes the problem?
I want to know how to get SMS Delivery Report setting which is stored in the /data/data/com.android.mms com.android.mms_preferences.xml. I wrote a application to read it with the following code:
SharedPreferences prefs = PreferenceManager.getDefaultSharedPreferences(this); boolean requestDeliveryReport = prefs.getBoolean( "pref_key_sms_delivery_reports", true);
Seems it does not work, it always returns the default value which is "true". Does anybody know how to read/write the SMS Delivery Report setting.
Simple question - I've got an update via SUES this week and there's a small fault with it (a library file is showing up in the app list). Is there any way I can report this to SE? I don't really want to mail the SE Answers team, but at the moment this looks like the only route.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI was quite frustrated earlier with my battery performance. I turned off:
- WiFi
- Bluetooth
- "Use wireless networks"
- Gmail/Email pull and Auto-sync (but leave the "Background data" on)
- "Enable GPS satellites"
- Weather update
- "Enable Always-On mobile" (but leave the "Mobile network" ticked)
- and let Twitter/Facebook to automatically update only once/twice a day.
Still the battery was draining very fast. The only thing I did not turn off is the 3G. Yesterday I decided to switch to 2G and replace the built-in SMS with Handcent SMS. To my very surprise, the battery life improves greatly. I will now do a test to see how fast it drains. I have just fully charged the unit and will update it here once I get the result.
I want to create a service that runs on Android which can collect all of my location information. Either write the information to a file or send to a server using 3G/wiki network. I was thinking about using a service that runs forever as a daemon. After reading "Diamonds are forever, services are not" by Mark Murphy, I realized that it is not a good idea. However, I need to somehow acquire the moving trajectory information on the Android phone. Without a daemon service running forever, how do I do that ?
