Does all apps etc get saved by default to the phone memory or the SD card?? Also, when I plug in via the USB cable and want to transfer some videos and photos across from my old phone, are they saved to the SD card? Is there any way of checking what is saved to where?

View 2 Replies View RelatedNot had my desire long but down loaded a few apps for it they all seem to be stored on phone memory not the sd card. what is stored to the sd card seems to be unused so far. do you have to set it up to use sd card or does it know one is fitted. does it switch to sd card when phone memory full. will run out of space soon if can't get things to store to card instead of phone mem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAs I had a Nokia N85 laying around, containing a 8GB micro SDHC class 6 memory card, I was planning on using this on my desire, since that only came with a 4gb card. However, I formatted the 8GB card in windows, (to fat 32). (I've might have formatted the partitions and everything as well). But either the Desire or PC cant find my SD card at this point. When I put the 8gb card into my N85 and then connect the N85 to my PC, the computer finds it. My N85 has no problem locating the SD card either. What to I have to do to the SD card to be able to use it with my Desire?

View 26 Replies View RelatedThe HTC Desire has limited memory of around 570Mb RAM and 512Mb ROM. The MicroSD card can hold up to 32Gb. So, why can't HTC allow apps be stored in MicroSD card? If HTC/Google's concerned about piracy issues, i.e. copies of apps from microSD card to another microSD card, etc. There is one way round to this problem: They could have installed some kind of unique crypto-key within the Desire's ROM, and any apps saved to the microSD card are automatically encrypted on-the-fly with this crypto-key.
When apps are accessed, it is decrypted on-the-fly, too. In other words, apps will ONLY work with THAT phone it shares the SAME crypto-key. Putting a microSD card containing apps into another Android phone will not work, thus solving the piracy issue. Therefore, a message to HTC: Please allow apps to microSD card (as much as 32Gb card) and BEAT iPhone/Nokia N900 at their game!
1:I am downloading apps from the market and I have bought one. Now for last 24 hours it has been trying to download these and just wont. The one i bought still says authorizing purchase. Now why is this? View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to buy the HTC Desire or the Samsung Galaxy S. At the moment I prefer the HTC Desire. It's smaller, feels better and has flash which the Samsung lacks. But when I read the fact that the HTC Desire is very limited in internal memory for installing apps and the fact that you can't transfer a lot of apps to your sd card with the help of the froyo 2.2 update got me thinking again about which phone I should pick. I don't want to buy the phone and later regret that I don't have enough space for apps. That's not the only thing that is bothering me. So I want to ask a few questions.
1: What is the average number of apps you can install on the internal memory (so without SD card) of the HTC Desire if you installed update 2.2?
2: Let's say I use internet 2 hours a day, watch movies, listen to music 2 hours a day and also call people 1 hour and send a few text messages. If I do this everyday will I have to charge my battery everyday or will it last longer?
3: Can you install apple apps on HTC desire?
4: What is the average size of an application?
