Android :: Internal Memory Full / Any Applications That Can Be Stored To SD Card
Oct 14, 2010I have a galaxy portal 2.2. The internal memory was getting full so I installed a new 4gb sd card thinking it would give me more storage, this is ok for music photos etc. but seems apps are stored on phone memory, when I want to get new apps I have to remove some old ones , I've looked on market for an apps to keep apps on sd card, but can't find anything.

Sep 27, 2010Even though I am on 2.2 and alot of my apps have bee moved to SD, I still only have 12% left.my most recent downloads havent helped as they cannot be moved; a few icon packs, folder organizer, android agenda widget and astrid, still, before this, I was still only on 20% Are apps fully moved with the move to SD option in 2.2?

Oct 3, 2010This is a problem that has been annoying me for some time, but has recently become ridiculous. As we all know the internal memory is pretty small on the Desire, and i've tried to be conservative with the apps I install (unless I know they can be moved to SD). However, despite this i'm constantly low in internal memory. at the moment, the only apps i have installed on the internal memory are beautiful widgets (1.36mb), colornote (524kb), facebook (3.05mb), mixzing (3.70mb), multicon (316kb), swiftkey (1.84mb), (tasker (1.43mb), voice search (2.54mb) .everything else I have moved to the SD card via app2sd or through the recently posted trick to get all apps to automatically install to SD. As you can see, the apps I have installed (obviously this excludes all the various htc stuff that comes preinstalled etc) falls far short of the supposed 148mb that i have available to install apps, so can anyone shed any light on what might be going on? I've tried clearing various caches to try and free up some spece but this has barely had any impact and this is truly starting to bug me. I've got a desire on 2.2

Aug 19, 2010I've been running with about 15-20mb of memory left for the last couple of months perfectly happily, haven't installed any new apps etc. This morning when I woke up the phone was suddenly reading completely full with something like 44kb of internal memory left. I went through and deleted a bunch of apps, emptied various caches and got the memory back down to 130mb of the 147mb. Now, I've had my phone on charge all afternoon, maybe 3 texts and 5 emails have come in and all of a suddenly the memory is totally full again! Most apps now force close because there's not enough memory to run them but something is obviously just filling up the memory somehow. Anybody else have this problem, or any ideas how to solve it?

I'll probably install a lot of apps when I get mine next wednesday (I already have made a list of over 30!) and I would really like to avoid rooting it as it will probably void the warranty and I am not sure I could do it anyway - even after reading the step by step guide a few times over. How many apps have you all managed to fit in before getting the memory low message that some have reported?

Apr 1, 2010The HTC Desire has limited memory of around 570Mb RAM and 512Mb ROM. The MicroSD card can hold up to 32Gb. So, why can't HTC allow apps be stored in MicroSD card? If HTC/Google's concerned about piracy issues, i.e. copies of apps from microSD card to another microSD card, etc. There is one way round to this problem: They could have installed some kind of unique crypto-key within the Desire's ROM, and any apps saved to the microSD card are automatically encrypted on-the-fly with this crypto-key.
When apps are accessed, it is decrypted on-the-fly, too. In other words, apps will ONLY work with THAT phone it shares the SAME crypto-key. Putting a microSD card containing apps into another Android phone will not work, thus solving the piracy issue. Therefore, a message to HTC: Please allow apps to microSD card (as much as 32Gb card) and BEAT iPhone/Nokia N900 at their game!

Aug 27, 2010I want to buy the HTC Desire or the Samsung Galaxy S. At the moment I prefer the HTC Desire. It's smaller, feels better and has flash which the Samsung lacks. But when I read the fact that the HTC Desire is very limited in internal memory for installing apps and the fact that you can't transfer a lot of apps to your sd card with the help of the froyo 2.2 update got me thinking again about which phone I should pick. I don't want to buy the phone and later regret that I don't have enough space for apps. That's not the only thing that is bothering me. So I want to ask a few questions.
1: What is the average number of apps you can install on the internal memory (so without SD card) of the HTC Desire if you installed update 2.2?
2: Let's say I use internet 2 hours a day, watch movies, listen to music 2 hours a day and also call people 1 hour and send a few text messages. If I do this everyday will I have to charge my battery everyday or will it last longer?
3: Can you install apple apps on HTC desire?
4: What is the average size of an application?

Nov 28, 2008There are a couple of options within the browser I didn't find until after searching for it, so I thought I would share it with the rest of the community in order to help out.
-Everyone should clear the browser cache and previous history in order to save internal phone memory. To do this go to BROWSER press the MENU button and press MORE. There should be a list of things in there but what you should be interested in is the last item which is SETTINGS. From there in privacy settings there will be options to clear both cache and history.
- Another little tip I wanted to share was viewing webpages in landscape mode without opening your keyboard. To do this simply press the MENU button from within the BROWSER and go down to FLIP ORIENTATION. You should realize tho by doing this you browser will continue to be in landscape the next time it's used. In order to return it to it's normal portrait mode just follow these steps once again.
-There are a number of other things you can mess around with or find with the MENU button within the browser so just take a look at it yourself even if you don't want to do any of these tips.
General :: Internal Memory 100% Full After Trying Out More ROMs?
Feb 17, 2013I tried out a few roms on my motorola defy plus, and as of today I have absolultely no space on internal memory, although it is supposed to be 1GB in size.
I'm thinking that this happened, because every time I tried out a new rom, I installed all the applications I use all over again.I tried clearing the cache, the Dalvik cache from recovery, but it didn't work.
In this way I am unable to install any aplications whatsoever, whenever I try to open the Market, the phone hangs for a while and then reboots, actually whatever I do with it, it reboots, for example opening the contact manager, trying to manage the apps and so on.

Oct 15, 2013I kept trying different roms after rooting on my HTC Explorer..
I had got 90mb internal free when it was orginal .. But now when i rooted and flash different roms, Currently using jaggy rom 4.1 my internal is only 13mb free.. i reversed mounted it and got my internal as 1gb but my original internal is just 13 mb left for me.. First it use to be around120mb... Any way in which i can get my internal again to normal...

Feb 8, 2012I have this strange memory problem on my Samsung Galaxy SII Last week I flashed CheckRom RevoHD on my cellphone and everything went well (Titanium Backup etc...)
This morning I downloaded and installed Omega Files (Omega Series ROM kitchen) on my cellphone after a few hours it switched off. And then it took like 10 minutes to switch back on as the screen was stuck on the splash screen.
I had like 500-600Mo of free memory out of 2Go for apps and now I only have 20Mo...
Is there any file manager (that sorts folders by size) out there so I can do so cleaning ?

Sep 1, 2009I have been trying moving applications to SD card but failed when I go to terminal and use CP command. Is anyone done applications to SD card and if yes how can somebody share some details please. A to Z. My hero is already root, just running out of space on my internal memory. Its sad that HTC don't allow to put applications on SD. Love to have an option to ask where do you want to install the apps?

Apr 19, 2010It has be reported that Apps cannot be saved in the 8gb internal memory but in the 512mb rom. Is that a problem for anybody? Reviews from Infosyncvideos and the androidcommunity stated the problem. I dunno how big apps are but it shouldn't be a big problem.

Also tried to download and use Epicurus and it crashes every time (thinking it stores usage data on your MicroSD. I'm theorizing because I don't have a microsd card in my phone and maybe a lot of apps have trouble using the incredible internal 8GB of memory? Thinking on buying a 8GB MicroSD card just for this.

Nov 11, 2010This is extremely annoying since I have a new 32GB memory card class 6. There's about 11mb of internal memory on the phone left and I have tried to move applications to memory card but some don't have this feature. I have used swapper2 but this only makes the problem worse. I have a rooted HTC Wildfire mobile with the WildPuzzel rom installed.
Low on memory and the phone is slowing down and is becoming unresponsive some times. Completely ridiculous how the device comes with only 500mb of internal memory, since this is a smart phone/computer that's not very smart. Is there a method to use the memory card as internal storage space or as ram. As mentioned I used the swapper2 programme with no success. Any other hacks, I have tried over clocking but don't want to use this. I want to address the issues of low memory.
I have some games that take up about 20mb of ram:
galigochaser 18.7mb
hungry shark 11mb
speed forge 7.3mb
Just an example of application that I would like to move but the feature is not built in the application.

Sep 9, 2010Not had my desire long but down loaded a few apps for it they all seem to be stored on phone memory not the sd card. what is stored to the sd card seems to be unused so far. do you have to set it up to use sd card or does it know one is fitted. does it switch to sd card when phone memory full. will run out of space soon if can't get things to store to card instead of phone mem.

Oct 12, 2010Been thinking of getting a wildfire, it looks like a good phone for the price range I'm in. However today I've read something about the HTC desire that it suffers with a lack of internal memory and this limits the amount of apps available you can store on it (because you cannot store onto SD card) Does the wildfire have the same problem as this, and if it does will it be rectified with the release of froyo?, or is there anyway around it? It seems a shame to have all these apps available on the Android Market but only a limited space to store them on.

Nov 16, 2009It was too bad to hear about the fact that the Applications live and function within the Droid's 256MB of internal memory instead of utilizing all of the micro-SD space that the phone can have. This really hurts the Droid's ability to compete with the iPhone on things like handheld gaming since programs have to stay very small in order to not take up all your phone's space.
Games can get quite large. I had an old Palm V back in the day, and I do recall being able to eventually run applications off of the SD card. This was nice. What are your thoughts on this? Do you think there will be apps that allow Droid to run apps off of the SD card?

Aug 10, 2010im new to android, I have a HTC Hero, few weeks ago i started installing different applications after a while it i got the error message about low internal memory, I played with the phone a little and deleted somethings, but now many of the application donot work but their icon are still showing up. but when i try to open them.
some software like google sky, notepad have disappeared. how can i get my phone back to the way it was before. i did a factory default data reset. but no help. please help me to get all my previews applications back.

I have moved most of my apps to sd card aswel. I had an HTC hero with virtually the same apps, and not once did it say low on memory so is my desire faulty ?

Nov 1, 2010According to android information system; the max internal memory is 147mb, I have 14.75 mb (9%) left. This means I have used 132,75mb. According to app brain, I have 69 apps with a total of 140mb. Surely the move to SD built into froyo should move more than 7.25mb? Most of my apps have the feature. I know this is the poorest way of getting apps to SD but surely it should move more than that? I am going to have a go at the noob guide to moving apps to SD later to see if it improves things. I need to do something. I am at a stage now where apps not update. i have to uninstall the old version and then reinstall the new version.
