just recently my desire doesn't make and sound for messages...
just vibrates, Ive tried all the basic stuff in the settings even changed the tone a few times...just nothing. any ideas?

I have only had my Hero for a couple of days but am quickly become frustrated. Is there any way to change the notification sound with incoming texts? Also, every time I receive and incoming text my phone also vibrates. I've looked under notifications and can't find any way to change this. I'm about to pay the restocking fee and get a new phone.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI purchased 2 HTC desire phones and whilst I am happy with them it appears there may be a bug as both phones seem to do it. Occasionally when a text message is received for some reason the notification sound doesnt go off. I know this for sure as I have had the phone right next to me waiting on a message thinking I didnt get it only to discover later it was actually delivered but no sound.Is this a known issue and if so is there a fix for it.
As the tile suggests, is it possible to set a different notifiaction sound for E-Mail & SMS? I cannot find this option anywhere.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've contacted handcent directly and looked in their forum but it appears that they don't provide good service to customers - no replies! I didn't much like Handcent so I uninstalled it and no notification sounds happened when I received a message. I went back to the stock messaging app and reset the notification sound but it didn't work. Reinstalled Handcent and the sounds came back. Unistalled and no sounds again. I was on 2.1 when it started but I'm now on 2.2 and the same issue happened (no Handcent when it was upgraded to 2.2 in case you're wondering and it didn't fix the problem). Anyone know how to completely remove all traces of Handcent and reset/reconfigure/reinstall the stock messaging app.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a none branded/unlocked Desire with firmware version 2.10.405.2, now, there used to be an option in older firmware versions, how old i can't remeber, to enable a sound notification for SD Card events, such as unmounting, mounting, etc, but this option seems to have been removed, at least on my phone, could someone please take a look through thier phone settings and confirm if this option is there, or not, i used to enable this option when connecting to the PC so i would know when the SD Card had unmounted/mounted.

Ive never noticed this before my phone updated to the new 2.2 software and my old nokia used to give a little beep but the desire is a full blown message tone in your ear! Makes me jump everytime. I often keep my phone on silent so I don't always notice texts. My old phone had the LED light to notify me, and before that I had an iPhone which would flash the display with a notice about the missed text/call.
I'm aware of NoLED, but I tried it and wasn't a fan, the icons are annoying. Plus it seems like it would take up battery.
My HTC Desire seems to have stopped singing the "tik tik" sound (the sound when you clicked on any program).

I have them all checked, but for some odd reason, I still didn't get the sound.
I came across this in the marketplace. It basically lights up your screen on and off when you have a missed call or text. You have to option to set the frequency your screen flashes to notify you (every 5, 10 seconds, etc) and for how long this goes on (1 hour, 2 hours, etc) Gonna try it out. Not sure if it's a battery drainer or not, just trying it out myself.

However, fire department and my wife I would like to assign seperate notification tones. In addition I would like to download ringtones other than the standard ones on the phone. I see them in the phone ringer section but not in messaging. How do I get them in there. I am new to this so I need detailed instruction.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I get a notification, like an email or text, I want the phone to vibrate for like 15 seconds in like pulses of 3. It will vibrate a fair amount if the volume is on, but when I put the phone to vibrate only, the ONLY thing that vibrates is the ringer. I find this to be a general annoyance with Android I think. Anyone know a way I can customize the vibration settings for notifications (text, email, etc) when the phone is on silent (vibrate only)?
View 4 Replies View Related1. No sound notification. When I am texting someone back and forth, I have to back out of the thread or I do not get notified that they have responded. If I leave it open, I sit there forever thinking the person didn't respond only to wake up my phone and see that they actually did.... 10 minutes ago. Anyone else have this issue?
2. When I turn my phone on in the morning, I never get notified of new email. I have to open my mail and click refresh. I have tried letting it go thinking it would notify me at the update interval I have set, and that never happened. I went almost 2 hours until I had a new email notification, and that was because I sent something to myself to test it.
since I updated to 2.2 last night when I am on the phone I receive a text message and it plays my ringtone even while I'm on the phone. Before the update the notification would just pop out without any sound (which is fine and what I'd prefer). Has anyone noticed this, or is aware of a fix? All I can do at this point is make sure my phone is on vibrate before I'm on the phone. BTW the sound stops after I touch the notification like normal it's just annoying for it to play at all while on the phone.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEver since i manually updated to FRF50, ive never heard anymore phone notification sound whenever i boot up, shut down, or plug into USB. It always does that back in android 2.1. But i have never heard it since i got froyo. Is it supposed to be like this?
