I've got a dictionary.com app on my phone, cant remember if I downloaded it or if it came with the phone and as such not sure if everyone has it or not. Basically it gives me a widget which I had on my 7th homescreen that gives me a 'word of the day' each day which I quite liked. Since I upgraded to Froyo, the widget isn't working, it keeps force closing but the main app itself works.

I consider myself a fairly careful and exploratory user of most things, and Android is no exception - I'd like to think of knowing most its functions, and when people make posts in this forum, I do tend to already know them. But no - my mind was just blown with something so simply that I'm sure i'm behind the curve here. It always annoyed me how difficult it was to add a word to the dictionary for prediciton? Or, not difficult, but time consuming, going into the settings, text and locale, diction, add. The other day I had a moment of brilliance when I realised that long-holding the text box after typing in a word brought up the option (right at the bottom of the list) to add it to the dictionary. This was faster, but still a bit annoying because it took a second to load the dictionary, then you had to click "Add" again. I just realised, however, that if you long-hold a word itself in the text entry box, it just adds it. It comes up saying "saved" and bam, it's done.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhile using the predictive text in the DINC I sometimes want to type something that isn't a word like an acronym or some abbreviation. Predictive text will suggest a word close to what I am typing but I don't want that. It offers exactly what I am typing as an option but then it adds that text to the dictionary. Sometimes that's great but most of the time I want to simple use the term once and not add it to to dictionary. If I type space it will change my text. If I select the offered override it adds the text to my dictionary. How do I just keep what I am typing?

I am sure I could disable auto-correct but I would rather not.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI do not have the option for "User Dictionary" when I press the settings key (button that looks like a gear at the bottom left of keyboard). I think its because of my location. I'm from Singapore and the keyboard that comes with it is a "CN Thai Keyboard". The settings button has a "abc" or "<chinese character>" below the "gear" symbol that toggles between chinese or english input when pressed. If held, some chinese input entry method options appear. No sight of an option to edit my user dictionary.
I want to edit the dictionary to remove wrongly spelled words I accidentally entered. I know the majority of you guys have another keyboard that came with your phone, and prob don't have this problem, but just wondering if someone from this forum might know..

I saw the User Dictionary Manager on the market which would had been GREAT but it doesn't work on HTC Desire (and a few other HTCs). Any suggestions?
Is it possible to go back to an incorrect word in a text you are writing and highlight it so that the word list appears again which enables to to select an alternate word rather than have to delete the word and retype the correct one.

Is it possible to update it to a working version? EG:
I tried to write "spiser" (eat) but it suggested "spiser r" (Sophagus)
When I wrote "klokken" (at) it suggested klokkesl t" (time)
It changes simple every day words into complicated - rarely used words.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAm i able to change the inbuilt dictionary as i've added words that shouldn't have and now it is starting to choose them.
I have a hotmail programme and a gmail one. Am i able to amalgamate them into one programme. They also do not seem to get email unless i manually refresh. I have gone into settings but it seems to be ok in there regarding when and how often i want it updated.
Battery seems to be a real stinker, I'm getting roughly 7-8 hours before it's telling me to recharge. No live scenes, wifi off anything I'm missing?

Hey all. I noticed in the top right hand corner underneath my battery cover on back it says the word void. Surely this is only meant to show If I have moved anything. Only had the phone 2 weeks.
View 2 Replies View Relatedall my contacts are google contacts with several linked to Facebook accounts.When I access my contacts through the People widget, all's good, I only see the google contacts (I've deselected Facebookers in the view menu). However when I access the Messages widget all my contacts are doubled up for some reason. I realise this list is also showing facebook contacts as well as google contacts but even the non-facebook contacts are doubled up.

I have tried to force it to update, removed all my subscriptions and re-added them, cleared the cache and stored data. All with various cycles of turning the phone on and off. No luck. It is now a blank widget and when I try to add RSS feeds it won't list any and effectively nothing happens when I tap the widget.

I have a desire and im loving it, my only very minor gripe is HTC's own email widget/app.
I have it set up with my hotmail account and so far its functioning beautifully. However i do find it annoying that when i read an email on the desire, it doesnt mark it as read in hotmail in a browser.
Now this is possible as my nokias push email always marked it as read etc but this doesnt. Are there any settings i need to change or any similar alternative apps available that do this but also have full or half screen widgets?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have just noticed today that all my facebook contacts birthday events are showing twice in the agenda widget? I had to delete the data in /settings/applications/contacts storage yesterday to cure a separate google contacts sync problem that I had, maybe this caused the agenda widget problem? My contacts all synced ok from gmail again and I have since linked a few to facebook contacts in the people app. However most of the
duplicates are for contacts that are not linked in people, so I dont think thats it.
Is there any program or widget that would allow me to use the LED flash while taking videos?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've done a search through the threads to see if I can find the same issue, so please forgive me if I'm duplicating anything here. I have an HTC Desire on Orange. Until earlier today, my weather widget was working fine, it knew where I was and it updated the weather accurately. This afternoon it recognizes my location correctly but now says 'no weather data available'. It still shows weather for the other locations - London, Paris, etc, but not for where I am now. The only thing I can think of that has changed is that I just installed an update on an app I have (White Noise Lite from TMSOFT). Might uninstalling this app help? I tried to manually add in my location, wondering if this would work, but it is not available on the list of locations. I've tried removing and then re-adding the weather widget to my home screens. I've tried turning my phone off and on again, in the spirit of all IT helpdesk encounters I've ever had.
