In my haste I linked a google email account to my phone which I'd rather wasn't linked to it. I've now created a new google email account which I want to be my main email account, however when I try to remove the old one I'm told that I need to reset factory settings, which I'd rather not do.

just got my desire this morning and i don't really know what i'm doing with it, i've never had a smart phone before. i've set up my hotmail account as the email account on the phone but, call me paranoid, i'd rather not have it on there at all. if i delete the account on the phone will it have any detremental effect on the actual email account?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a POP mail account pretty standard with my ISP. My home PC is where I keep those mails so when I load up Outlook and download the mails, the mails are no longer on the server. On my previous WinMo device, whilst I was away from my home PC, it would download mails and keep them on my device UNTIL I got home, opened Outlook and downloaded mails, and then, on my device the next sync would clear those mails from the device. Nice and neat. Since moving to Android recently, a niggling thing for me has been that no matter what I do from my home PC, mails never seem to disappear from my device until the number of retention days is met. I've looked at the settings over and over and can't see anything to lead me to replicating how it worked on my WinMo device. I have no need to keep emails on my device once they're downloaded at home, am I missing something or is this just the way it is? I know iPhone does it this way also and it really annoyed me for the very short time I had one.

I`m with Three mobile but my phones unlocked, When I connect via wifi to my home it sends ok, but this seems a bit pointless when I`m away from home.

One server is for all the email sent within the company itself and the other server is for all the outgoing and incoming mail from outside the company. The problem is that both servers run different pop3 settings, but use the same email address. This is however not a problem to set up on outlook.
The problem is to set it up on my phone. I have already done the outside server (email), but when I try to set up our inter company server (email) my Desire says that there is already an account with the same email address. And I can thus not continue with the set up.
I have recently bought a HTC desire. I am able to receive my hotmail emails and can send them back but when I look on my laptop it still showed unread messages on both hotmail and outlook even when I have read them on my phone. I used to have an INQ phone and I didn't have any problems with this before.

Can receive email but sending on the move fails. Three customer service don't know and cant be bothered ringing them up again and hanging on for ages warming up my ear.

I have a Desire and I use it over a WiFi link in my home, fine for surfing and reading mail, but when I try to set up an outgoing mail account on my 'usual' mail account I run into a problem. Because I travel a lot I use a service called authsmtp to provide me with an smtp address wherever I am, works fine, annual fee is low (not a recommendation, works for me).
However, in order to work it needs an SMTP address of the form mail.authsmtp.com and a password. I can enter the mail.authsmtp.com ok but it always says it cannot check the account. Is this 'cos it cannot check the smtp or is it something else? All the other data seems to be ok.
I deleted my Google account because I wanted a new one. I made it added to my phone but it wont let me delete my first one? It keeps giving me a notification to "update" password?

When I enter the Mail app however it says that the "account for this widget has been deleted. Would you like to switch to another account?" When I select Yes it just leads me back to my account Inbox - the same account it claims was deleted This account was created using the Manual IMAP option.
Earlier today when I just put my details in normally, without selecting Manual, it was working okay - although the sync was a problem. At least, however, it had a notification icon on the App when I got a new email. But strangely after I wait a few minutes going back to that account inbox, it does show my emails. What can I do to stop this?

Is this normal or is there automatic feature that i must enable to have it alert me once an email is received?
Secondly, is it possible to set-up a third party email account, ex: Yahoo? I went through the notion of manually enter email account, but was unsucessful. It give me a msg that mailbox access is not supported for some tpes of yahoo mail accounts. Could this be an interference with gmail email, thus causing the problem? Even, using the manually setup option, it still fails to connect to my yahoo account.
