I've been searching and still cant get my school email account to work? First, is my incredible capable of having multiple email accounts attached to it like my blackberry had been? The emails i really need to get to work are one from comcast and the other from my school (university of pittsburgh).

just got my desire this morning and i don't really know what i'm doing with it, i've never had a smart phone before. i've set up my hotmail account as the email account on the phone but, call me paranoid, i'd rather not have it on there at all. if i delete the account on the phone will it have any detremental effect on the actual email account?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI work for comcast and we ose microsoft exchange but i believe we use 2003. thats what it says when i go to my owa website for remote email access. i use the owa for my berry to get the emails pushed and was wondering if android could push it. my remote access website is https://webmail.comcast.com and i don't know if it is possible. i have heard about an app called touchdown but i also don't know if it would work. i am thinking about getting the moment because i am on sprint because it has the faster processor than the hero. i may wait for the supersonic though. if you could please let me know if i can push my email that would be awesome or if it is possible from a different app or way to do it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with receiving emails. I can't get push to work so set it to check every 5 minutes. It worked for a day then stopped. I changed It to 10 minutes and it worked again but not for long. It's a hotmail account and all settings are correct Im sure.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been reading up on the concept of push email, and how it's supposed to be a huge battery saver (since in theory, the phone would only receive a notification of an e-mail, and not the actual e-mail itself). I have also been reading up on how the "Gmail" app's version of Push email is not the same as other Push e-mail software, in that it requires the phone to "Sync" whenever an e-mail hits the Gmail server. As a result, whenever I would try to turn Auto Sync off (supposedly to save battery), I would no longer be able to get my e-mail notifications in real time.
With this in mind, I attempted to find another application that would enable me to use Push email for my Gmail account, without having to "Sync" with Gmail's server. After messing around for a bit, I found that I could manually input my Gmail account info (Incoming Server, Outgoing Server, Username, Pass, Etc.) into the stock "Email" app that comes with the X. Once this was done, I was able to enable "Data Push" in the "Email" app's Settings menu (as well turning off any Polling intervals). By doing this, I was able to receive new Gmail notifications through the "E-mail" app, even when Auto Sync had been turned off. As a bonus, I received them around 15 seconds faster than I did with the "Gmail" app's version of Push.....
I've had my Incredible for almost a week now and I still havent brought myself to set up my Gmail to POP my work and Hotmail accounts. I just don't care for the Gmail system or client for Android OS.
I DO have a Gmail account (pretty much forced into it) but my main accounts are Hotmail and my own custom domain (non-exchange).
Yes, i'm coming from a Blackberry and have been spoiled with the best Push technology out there. No, i will not go back to Blackberry, so please spare the suggestions.
What i am wondering is if there is any 3rd party app out there that will Pop your email acct(s) and push the mail to your phone to either the stock HTC Mail app or it's own 3rd party client.
I've seen K-9 - but not sure if this is what i'm looking for.
I've seen Touchdown - but this appears to be only for Exchange.
Can either of these applications provide Push Email to Android or are there any others out there? If not, does anyone know of any on the horizon?
I have one gmail account, using the default gmail app. I also have a separate gmail account, using Exchange ActiveSync. Push does not work for either of my two gmail accounts.
1. default gmail.It just doesn't push. Today, i went thru the entire day without noticing the email. at 9PM today, I realized that i had missed an email sent at 8am. The only reason I knew this was because I checked my gmail on my computer. So I tried hitting refresh on my incredible's gmail. After a few seconds, the email showed up, 13 hours after it was originally sent. I kept on sending test emails to my gmail, and it just does not show up on my incredible until i hit refresh. this is supposed to be push email...what's going on..?
2. default "Mail" app - exchange activesync.At 9pm, i realized that I had missed 4 emails from throughout the day (a different gmail account). I went into the settings to make sure that the frequency was set to "as items arrive" and realized that it was set to Manual. I thought, aha, i should change this, and i should be fine. However, i realized that I kept on failing to change the setting.
I keep trying to set up my verizon.net email account on my phone, but it keeps saying it can't verify because the server isn't responding. Under the options it says POP Server: verizon.net, Security Type: None, Server Port: 110.

I've set up an email account on my mini pro (NOT gmail or exchange) and it all works fine updating my inbox manually , however, I cant find any settings to automatically retrieve my emails periodically ( as far I can see auto sync refers to gmail or sony sync or road sync for exchange). Is this normal or is there automatic feature that i must enable to have it alert me once an email is received?
Secondly, is it possible to set-up a third party email account, ex: Yahoo? I went through the notion of manually enter email account, but was unsucessful. It give me a msg that mailbox access is not supported for some tpes of yahoo mail accounts. Could this be an interference with gmail email, thus causing the problem? Even, using the manually setup option, it still fails to connect to my yahoo account.
Is it normal for push email to take 3-4 minutes on an android device? I just sent some test emails from my laptop. They arrived at 6:33 pm and the timestamps show the were sent at 6:29. Maybe I'm just spoiled from having a blackberry because I'm used to push email being immediate, not 3-4 minutes later. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I`m with Three mobile but my phones unlocked, When I connect via wifi to my home it sends ok, but this seems a bit pointless when I`m away from home.

The Verizon rep tested it on his phones and it also worked on the Moto Droid but not his Incredible. Spent an hour on the phone with HTC and their only answer is a hard reset - which is bullshit because it doesn't work on 2 different incredibles.

First I tried to send them individually via mms, no go. Then I tried to send them in via email, first together then individually, again no good. I kept getting a error message saying that my account setting is incorrect. What is the deal. I've been hyping my DROID to everyone saying that the IFAD is not as good, starting to wonder.

Do I have to open the htc mail program for it to sync? I want my emails to automatically be sent to my phone. Does anyone know if I have messed up a setting or something, or am I expecting blackberry performance from a phone that wont do that.

At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.
I heard people talking so highly of Vlingo so I installed it last night. It really does work great. My problem is that when I tell it send an email, it uses my gmail account and not my other pop email account which is currently set as default in the Incredible settings.
View 3 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know how to clear historical contacts from the Email application. I'm using yahoo, I don't have Gmail set up on this phone because yahoo is my primary email. I've sent emails to 3 wrong emails. For example JoeSmith@aol.com, JSmith@aol.com, JoeS@aol.com but really his email is JoeSmith@yahoo.com. Now everytime I go to send this person an email, all 4 emails come up, the 3 in history, and the 1 in his contact information. When I type in J in the email recipient, all 4 come up, 3 say "history" next to the line of the email. I tried to add those emails into the contact, and then delete the emails, but that doesn't work.
I've went to yahoo to see if those contacts are showing up in history and they are not, so I know the historical email history is on the phone only. I haven't found a way to remove these items in history, but it's starting to cause problems because if I don't pay attention, I am choosing one of the wrong emails. Same thing is happening when I hit reply to ALL, 1 time about 2 months ago, and now i have about 40 emails in history and I don't even know who these people are, they are not in my contacts, and the phone is holding them hostage because I sent an email once. Does anyone know of a sure way to remove these historical emails?
If you don't know what I mean, give it a try, send an email to JOE@yahoo.com, and when you get it kicked back, the next time you try to send an email and hit "J", that JOE@yahoo.com will show up every single time, without fail. I've checked all historical settings on the phone, and even removed and re-added the yahoo account, but it does no good, the historical emails still stay in history. It's getting very annoying to have 45+ emails that you dont even know show up everytime you try to email someone something. Someone must have an answer for this, I can't be the only one that has sent the wrong email to someone.
Is there anyway to delete one of two Gmail accounts without clearing storage? If I do clear storage will it wipe out my apps or are they backed up by Gmail?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI remembered from my G1 days a way to sync the E-Mail app up to Yahoo's free (not PoP3) servers so I gave it try on my new BH2 and it works just fine:Here are the steps:
1. Enter Yahoo ID and Password (hint, just use your "username", not the whole joeblow@yahoo.com
2. Select Manual Setup
3. Setup IMAP
4. Incoming server is imap.mail.yahoo.com
5. Port is 143
6. Security Type is "TLS (if available)"
7. Leave IMAP path prefix blank
8. Hit next
9. SMTP Server is smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
10. Port is 25
11. Security is again TLS (if available)
12. Check Require sign-in
13. Verify username and password
14. enjoy
To Sync up, you CANNOT be on WiFi (dunno why, maybe Yahoo has a deal with T-Mobile?).One other note: if after rechecking all your settings and it still says "invalid username/password" try going onto your Yahoo Account and change your "Location" to ASIA ! Weird I know, but for some reason, some people can't get this to work with US-English as their Yahoo Locale (not talking about your phone's settings here, all on Yahoo site end!).
Unless I'm losing it, whenever I had a new email notification, pulled down the notification bar, and clicked the email, G mail app opened up the email itself. All of a sudden, when I do the same thing, it opens up the G mail In box and I have to click the email itself to open it. Am I delusional and this is how it's always been?

More specifically, opening menus is not as smooth and switching screens is a little choppy. Also... I do not get notifications on my sms and email icons when i have a new message or a email. I get it in my task bar but not on the actual icon, where it would usually tell me how many new emails or messages I have...
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems setting up my Gmail account with the HTC push email widget. I did enter my Gmail account details when I first set up the phone and they were accepted. I'll walk you through what I do.
1. Go to home screen with large Mail widget then click on it.
2. Click 'Other (POP3/IMAP)'
3. I then enter my email address and password. They are definitely correct. Then I press 'Next'.
4. I then arrive at the 'Incoming Settings' page.
5. I choose IMAP.
6. My email address is already there. My username is there, albeit with 'googlemail' following it (I have tried deleting that - still didn't work).................
