Is there a way to delete my gmail account off the gmail app? I dont want to receive my emails on my phone. I was able to delete it off the email app on the home screen, but not in the gmail app under applications.

I'm new to android so it may just be user error, but I'd like to think I'm fairly tech savvy and its not me.I've had my Epic for more than a month (got it on release day)
1.)I have a gmail account already on the phone and linked up.. but the email to it is somewhat complicated so i created another account via gmail.com (on the computer) and im having trouble having the phone connecting to the server and hosting the account.i think this might be a temporary google issue.
2.)I just got into a group at school that requires me to have a calendar.so i tried to creating all of my dates and times on my phone and then syncing it but apparently i had "My Calendar" checked so it won't go do i have to start over? and will it work this time?
3.)I just now decided that i also want to sync my contacts to my gmail account, but i already have 150+ contacts in my phone.I understand that you have to select save to "google" as opposed to "phone" when saving a new contact my question is... do i have to manually go through all 150+ contacts and change this? or is there another way to sync them?
while in the process of setting up my phone, i created a gmail account, which i need so i can use market, etc. Just wondering if anyone knows how i can go about removing that gmail account. I spell my name wrong, so want to remove that email account and register a new one, but i can't find anywhere where i can delete it, it just keeps coming up to put my email in. I have deleted the incorrect gmail account on their website.

Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

View 3 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to add a 2nd gmail account through the gmail app. it goes through the entire process, goes to the sync page and allows me to select what i wish to sync up then gives me a confirmation that the account has been added but when i go to the gmail app and check accounts it still only lists the 1 original account. i've tried powering the phone off and restarting - also added the account via HTC email app and deleted the 2nd account via HTC email app just in case it was conflicting there

This morning I went through all the emails on my Eris and deleted them but when I logged in to my PC they were all in the trash.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen i got my new phone, all the contacts were transferred over from my previous phone. I also have all my contacts in Google. When Google sync'd to the phone it created a duplicate of all the contacts. Is there a way to delete all the phone contacts so that all i have is the google contacts, which is what i use as the "master".
I know i can reset the phone to factory defaults but i have a lot of apps, music and pictures on there that i would prefer to not have to try and backup and reload.
Where is the back button? Like, just to move back without deleting the text? I've had this thing for 2 days and this is driving me crazy?

When I try to add another account, it seems to try setting up the account, and then returns the following error: "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server." I have tried multiple times and always get the same error. Data is always turned on and I have a good signal.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't get this Gmail app. It doesn't seem to sync properly with my Gmail account. First off, sometimes the main screen will show "Inbox (1)" or whatever number to indicate I have email, but there are no emails when I tap "Inbox" (but there *are* emails on the website, so they are really in my inbox). This may also be related to the label syncing options. I have them all set to "sync all" because I assume this means it will keep everything synced no matter how old it is, and if you specify a number of days, then it just syncs as far back as that many days. But this seems to cause a problem too, in that sometimes I have email on the website, but the phone isn't detecting it.
Finally, both times I've tried to send an email, it won't work. The email ends up as "sending" in the Outbox, but never gets sent. And yes there is a data connection. I see no reason why it shouldn't send immediately. I didn't expect the Gmail app, of all things, to be so problematic on an Android phone!
So the one factor that will decide if I will buy the Droid or not, is if I can use my Google Apps standard addition gmail address, ie hikingfan@your-group.com, with the native gmail and google calendar applications on the Droid. Does anyone know if this is possible and whether it works well or not? Are there any other limitations to using a Google Apps account on the Droid, like access to the marketplace? Thank you so very much, I desperately want to use the Droid for my work phone but I want to make sure that I can actually do work on it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have the gmail app setup on my HTC desire HD and it works perfectly, however when I open the HTC mail app and try and add gmail to that it doesn't work giving me a password error (even though I am sure it is right) I want to use the htc mail app as it will allow me to have all my email accounts in the same mail box. I have tested it with a hotmail account and it works fine, is gmail supported?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my Epic setup to poll my corporate POP3 mail server every 10 minutes.When I arrived at work this morning I changed the polling to "Never" on my Epic, and opened Outlook on my PC.I received an error indicating the the POP3 server was locked by another session.I turned off my Epic and a minute or so later, Outlook was able to successfully connect.How can this be avoided? Am I not completely closing out of the Email session on my Epic?

I clicked on the email icon on the home screen, and it instantly brought me to a screen that asks me to enter my email address and account password. "You can configure email for most accounts in a few steps," it says. Lies! I've entered my info at least ten times now, double-checked every time, and every time it tells me that either my username or password are incorrect. I promise you this is not the case. I'm trying to configure a Yahoo account.
I tried to add the account manually and the phone says it can't connect to the server.
I have been reading up on the concept of push email, and how it's supposed to be a huge battery saver (since in theory, the phone would only receive a notification of an e-mail, and not the actual e-mail itself). I have also been reading up on how the "Gmail" app's version of Push email is not the same as other Push e-mail software, in that it requires the phone to "Sync" whenever an e-mail hits the Gmail server. As a result, whenever I would try to turn Auto Sync off (supposedly to save battery), I would no longer be able to get my e-mail notifications in real time.
With this in mind, I attempted to find another application that would enable me to use Push email for my Gmail account, without having to "Sync" with Gmail's server. After messing around for a bit, I found that I could manually input my Gmail account info (Incoming Server, Outgoing Server, Username, Pass, Etc.) into the stock "Email" app that comes with the X. Once this was done, I was able to enable "Data Push" in the "Email" app's Settings menu (as well turning off any Polling intervals). By doing this, I was able to receive new Gmail notifications through the "E-mail" app, even when Auto Sync had been turned off. As a bonus, I received them around 15 seconds faster than I did with the "Gmail" app's version of Push.....
I am on the Epic 4g using the default YouTube app that came with the Epic 4g and I get an error every time I try to access my linked YouTube account. I have attached the screenshot of the error. This happens after going into the YouTube app, selecting "My account" then selecting my account from the "YouTube accounts" pop up. It will freeze for a while then I get the error in the screenshot.
I've even tried the HQ YouTube app found here: http://forum.androidcentral.com/android-applications/13492-evo-youtube-apk-works-droid-nexus-incredible.html
And taking the same steps as above it does the freezes but this time doesn't bring up that same error (I waited a couple minutes).
By the way, this is the stock ROM and I am not rooted.
I have a Droid, and my friend just got a Samsung Epic, so I am trying to show him things.He has a google account (not a gmail account, not a google apps - a Google account with his own email address). He wants to sync his contacts and calendar.On my Droid, I go to accounts & sync > add account > Google > enter my address and password.i get offered to sync Calendar and/or Contacts, by clicking on the check box.On his Epic, he adds the account, but there are no options, no check boxes! Is this different somehow? It works fine with his gmail, but not his generic Google account. On my Droid it all works fine and everything is in sync.

View 6 Replies View Relatedwhy my S4 is deleting all my contacts from it. I have my contacts synced with my gmail contacts and this has been the case for years. I had a Samsung Infuse before this and have never had a problem. I've had the S4 for about 3 weeks now and this hasn't happened until yesterday. And since yesterday it has happened 3x's. At first I thought it was a Trulia app (realestate app) that I was using to try to call some realtors. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence but the first 2 times I was on the app and my contacts disappeared. How I recovered them was through the contacts recovery feature on Gmail. I would be SOL if I were out and needed to call someone on my contacts list immediately and without access to my laptop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo my primary computer crashed and I had to reinstall all my programs and restore files from a backup. I had been syncing my Outlook calendar with my Gmail account using Google Calendar Sync which would then sync with my Captivate. When I reinstalled Outlook and synced with Gmail, it created duplicates of all my appointments. The only way to fix this was to delete all my appointments in Gmail and resync. Unfortunately, it didn't remove the duplicates from my phone. In fact, I have triplicates of many appointments. I thought I could just remove the Gmail account from my phone and add it back. Nope, my phone says that it's required by some programs and can only be removed through a factory reset. I thought that maybe I had to have a Gmail account on the phone for it to work so I added another one. I then attempted to delete the original. Nope, still wouldn't let me. Since that wasn't the problem I tried to delete the newly added account. Nope, no can do. So am I understanding correctly that there is no way to remove an account once it's been added without doing a factory reset?

Right now I only see my contacts (sucked from my Instinct) on my Epic, and my Gmail web acct shows nothing.
