I currently have a googlemail account, but want to change the 'googlemail' part of my account to 'gmail' which you can do via my googlemail account.I then want to delete the googlemail account from my Desire and re-sync it under its new gmail accronym.However, when I go to delete the googlemail account from my Desire it tells me I need to to a factory re-set and will lose all my data

I have just noticed that I an now looking emails when I read them in the mail app (not gmail but the HTC mail). I have my mail set up to the pop on my googlemail account. I can go into mail and see my new mail, but if I then refresh all the mail will disappear. I upgrade to Froyo last night and prior to that all was well. I have not changed any settings on mail or my googlemail account.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have about 300-odd contacts on my Gmail account - most, if not all, have no telephone number information on them, but I am guessing they still get copied over to the phone? Such that I will have a contact card on the phone that has no number, just an email? I don't email that much from my phone, so it seems pointless having most of these "email only" contacts on my phone. Secondly, a number of these contacts are named by email address i.e. some contact names appear as "doug1986" simply because Gmail has taken it from the email address doug1986@whatever.com. I really rather not have these synced across tot he mobile as they are old addresses (which I still dont want to delete).

It takes all the emails from my home account as well as showing emails from my new gmail address. However, when it takes emails from my home account it doesn't leave a copy in that account. I like gmail dragging in emails from my home account but I also like having the emails in my home account too. I have tried to find the answer on both gmail and my home account settings but can't get to the bottom of it. Does anyone know how to drag emails into my gmail account but keep a copy in the original account?

Obviously some clearly legit apps there but has anyone heard of any problems. It also neatly coincided with google asking me for my phone number as a backup in case i forget my password. Defo legit as that pop up came through secure google login.
When I tried to remove (settings->accounts & sync) the gmail account that was used during the initial phone setup, it prompted this message -> Remove account. This account is required by some applications. You can only delete it by resetting the phone to factory defaults. I would like to change it to another gmail account. Is such a drastic move (reset to factory default) necessary? Any workaround?

However, nothing happen when I manually sync. The icon rotating indicated that sync was in process. Afterward, I checked on my gmail's contacts, nothing change. No contact has phone number. Go to the GMail app, select add account, fill in the metrics and then...... "Needs to communicate" message for ~ 3 minutes, then bombs out with - "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server". 3G is fine, on a wifi connection that is fine, web browser works fine..... Google Apps account works fine.

View 8 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to add a 2nd gmail account through the gmail app. it goes through the entire process, goes to the sync page and allows me to select what i wish to sync up then gives me a confirmation that the account has been added but when i go to the gmail app and check accounts it still only lists the 1 original account. i've tried powering the phone off and restarting - also added the account via HTC email app and deleted the 2nd account via HTC email app just in case it was conflicting there

When you go under Settings>Sync...> it has the four Gmail accounts, with only one giving you the option to sync calendar. I want to sync the calendar of one of the others, not that one, and I can't figure out how to switch it. Also, the account is showing up as my Google log in for Maps. I've found an option to make the Gmail portion your default but no overall Google default.

Is there a proper procedure for dissociating it from my GMail ID and adding it to his. I have a suspicion that if I just change the associated email address in the Google Play settings on the phone, it will still appear on my list of devices.

When i first synced that email account it automatically linked all my existing contacts to that email. so when i try to delete it it deletes all my contacts. Is there a way to change the email account that a contact is linked with? Yesterday I went into my Gmail account and changed a setting, I think under the accounts/forwarding tab, and now every time I receive an Email in my Hotmail account, which is my primary one, I get duplicates. Two of every Email come in. This is rather annoying and clutters up everything, so I'm trying to figure out what setting dumbass me changed and how do I change it back.
