View 1 RepliesI know this could be done on earlier phones, but I can't find a way to change my main gmail account on the Droid (Android 2.01) without doing a factory reset. Anyone know how to do this?If a factory reset is the only way, what's the best way to do a backup/restore?
View 14 Replies View Relatedokay, this is really frustrating. i got my 2.2 today, and then i did a factory reset. everything is great except i can't seem to get my keyboard to change to swype. i have it installed, and i select it as my keyboard, but i cannot get it to come up. i have the official beta, and i also have a modified version with microphone, and i've tried both, neither is being recognized. does anyone know how to get my phone to use the swype keyboard when i have selected the damn thing? is there an additional setting i have to find? it's not app specific, either, i've checked several things, handcent, internet, mail, whatever. stock keyboard is all i get.
View 2 Replies View Relatedthe Google account option is missing in the add account settings. My phone is on stock rom, its name is gfive g9 which is a Chinese phone.I had rooted the phone. And it was rooted when I performed factory reset.
I have already tried reseting it again 3 to 4 times but the problem is still their. These are all the options available, but their is no Gmail option present. Also along with this problem is that the play store doesn't open at all.
When I tried to remove (settings->accounts & sync) the gmail account that was used during the initial phone setup, it prompted this message -> Remove account. This account is required by some applications. You can only delete it by resetting the phone to factory defaults. I would like to change it to another gmail account. Is such a drastic move (reset to factory default) necessary? Any workaround?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm a gmail guy all the way, but receiving second-to-second emails via the gmail app is DRAINING my battery. I re setup my account through htc mail and active sync and its working great my only problem is that It wont let me delete my account from the gmail app.I'd prefer not to have mail flowing in through 2 apps. It's telling me I have to do a factory reset in order to delete it.Is there any way around this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedAs we all know there is no way to remove a google account once u add (mostly on gingerbread).
So this trick is for u
U have to be rooted
Open root explorer
Navigate to
Root/data/system/ and delete
Accounts.db
now reboot
You are done
Is there a way to change Gmail account w/o doing a factory reset?
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust ran reset on my phone twice...it rebooted and nothing was removed! Never seen this before anyone have any thoughts? I'm on CM 5.0.7.1, and haven't seen this behavior before on that or any other ROM. Gonna boot into recovery and do it manually.

Why a Froyo factory reset really isn't (plus, a fix for upgrade issues) | Android Central Its in reference to the X but I am going to factory reset tonight and see what happens."If you're one of those folks who is less than pleased with your Droid X after the Froyo update, this one's for you. Android Central Forums member Fabrian was at wit's end, and even talked of ditching his X (blasphemy!) because of the random bugs, general weirdness, and plain old unsatisfactory performance of his unit since the update. His last-ditch effort and ingenuity seems to have paid off. The secret? He has completely disabled the Froyo feature that restores data from previous installs. It's really just a matter of turning off the automatic restore feature before logging back into your Google account. It's a little odd that "Automatic Restore" is still checked by default, even when "Back up my data" isn't, but there you go.The method isn't too painful and does require one more factory reset, but the payoff appears to be a much smoother experience. Makes sense, too restoring data from Eclair to Froyo probably isn't a very good idea even if it is convenient.
We've verified it here, a hard reset in Froyo isn't really a hard reset, as things come back by themselves. Follow Fabrian's instructions, and you will have a pristine Froyo installation on your Droid X (or Nexus One -- Sense on Froyo has no setting for this that we could find). Any troublemaking leftovers will be no more, and won't get downloaded and installed automatically again. If you're being plagued with myriad tiny bugs in your Droid X after the update, give it a try! [Android Central Forums] Thanks Fabrian, nice sleuthing!"
If you do a master reset with the Nexus one will you lose all your apps? even the ones that you purchased?
View 2 Replies View RelatedLong time Droid user, brand new to the Fascinate Forum. I just bought my wife a Samsung Fascinate and I have to say the thing is absolutely phenomenal! It makes my Motorola Droid look like a 1990's flip phone!! Except for one problem the darned thing has been automatically spontaneously performing a factory reset / hard reset on itself. And it is happening at completely random times. You're sitting there playing a game, you're reading your e-mail or you just pushed the screen ON / power button to wake the phone up and unlock it and then, all of a sudden The phone reboots to the black and white Samsung startup screen, then recovery pops up and yellow writing appears that says "Formatting FOTA:", "Formatting DATA:", "Formatting CACHE:". Then the phone reboots again and comes up like you just pulled it out of the box; a full factory reset / hard reset. The contents of the SD card are thankfully fine.Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to turn on some sort of logging so that maybe I can figure out what causes it? This is now the second phone that this is happening to. We took the first phone back to Verizon the very same day we got it and they swapped it out right there for another brand new one. The second phone behaved perfectly for three whole days before it went and wiped itself. We thought for sure that the problem was with the first phone, but now it is happening with the second phone.I am going to start from scratch again, adding one app at a time making sure the thing continues to work. But there weren't any apps on the device in the first place that were really out of the ordinary.- Gmail POP3 Yahoo- Corporate E-Mail to Microsoft Exchange Server (No, it wasn't the Exchange Admin sending a kill package, I'm the Exchange Admin)
- Angry Birds
- Robodefense
- Facebook
- Beautiful Widgets
- Cal Widget
- Google Maps
- Pandora
I have all of those apps and more on my Motorola Droid (also connected to the same Exchange Server) and my device is behaving just fine.I'm trying to think of reasons this might happen and I'm drawing a complete blank.
for some reason gmail was only syncing TO the phone. Changes i made werent showing up on web version, and emails i sent would just sit in outbox.I have 2 gmail accts.Removing 1 of the accts and adding it back, fixed the issue with that account. But its not letting me remove the main gmail acct.
View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm planning to return the evo 4g tomorrow and cancel my ontract with sprint since i'm within 30 days trial. nothing is wrong with sprint and evo 4g. i love their service and especially the beautiful phone. but i've decided to get the nexus one and stay on t-mobile's cheaper family plan until my parent's contract ends. so the question is, how do i factory reset it to the way it was before i got it? and are there anything i need to know beforehand?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am really starting to hate my EVO. It took a week for me to download a paid app, now I am not getting the new update, and I can't access the manage my apps setting. My brother bought his phone the same time I did, and he's not having any of these problems. I am wondering how do I reset it? maybe and hopefully I wont have as much problems with it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI find that my battery progressively gets worse and worse until I'll ultimately doing a factor reset and it fixes it. It really doesn't make sense to me. I don't use very few applications. The thing is it's always a downward progression. This is the 4th time I've done a factory reset and I will get 16-24 hours no problem. But the last week I've been getting 6-8 hours. It does this everytime, just gets progressively worse until I reset it and it's fine again. It really does only take me about 15 minutes to completely factory reset my phone and getting it back to the exact working condition as before though so that's not bad. This is not a "oh I haven't charged my phone it 37 hours nananan" threads or any other battery life battle. Just want to see if anyone else has noticed this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHow you factory reset the DHD. Have been having a few probs with the phone, that cannot seem to sort and neither could Orange, so am thinking of just resetting back and starting again.
The prob for information, if anyone can sort this. Is that I have one contact on my phone, that when I send a message to them, sometimes I get a text response back from the Orange 177 service, saying that they could not understand my request. Have spoken to Orange, and they say they have removed the 177 service, but, am still getting the message. When I do get the 177 message back, the actual recipient does not receive the message and I have to resend again
This particular contact on their FB account did have their number starting 1775..... rather than either 44 or just the standard 0 ... so I think it is getting confused, however, that number has been removed from FB, I deleted all traces of this contact and even deleted the FB account from my friends list ... then added them all back in to FB and into the phone .... although, am still getting this 177 response ... but it is not always, and on my bill there is no sign of the number being texted.
i have begun receiving a "Sign-in error" for the main Gmail account I set up the phone with. It stays in the notifications bar and if I try to input the password it authenticates forever then tells me the password or login are incorrect.Weirdest part though is I can still access the account and it appears i am still receiving push notices.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my Incredible last week and a few days later I got the OTA installation for Froyo. Since installing my phone has been a little sluggish and the battery life isn't as good as 2.1. I'm considering doing a factory reset since that's what has helped some people. A few questions though:
1) How do I do a factory reset?
2) Will doing a factory reset bring my phone back to 2.1 or 22?
3) How do I back up the apps I've downloaded? Specifically the PAID ones. Will I have to pay again for them?
I just got my evo and downloaded froyo pretty much right away. I want to do a factory reset, but that will cause me to lose everything, including my contacts, right? I tried syncing my contacts to my gmail account but they are not showing up when I log in to gmail on my computer. Is there something special I need to do when I log in to gmail to get my contacts? Or is it as simple as just clicking on contacts once you sync them from your Evo?
View 3 Replies View Relatedwhen all i see is a black screen with some icons along the top. no app drawer. can't get into the settings where the master reset is located. i flashed it to 1.6, worked sort of well for a few weeks, now this.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm have a some minor things that are not right and I'm wondering if a Factory Reset would help or be worth it.
1. keep syncing phone book over 3g (even if on wifi) sometimes 3 or 4 time in a 5 min span and even if background sync is off
2. random power downs
3. no market update (is this something I need to do manually?)
4. Sometimes 3g and wifi on at the same time.
I know there was a bulletin on not to do it if you had 2.1, but I was rooted using SS4.6. I had switched ROMs, between about three of them the past week, and didn't do a full wipe, just to be safe. But the phone was starting to get real slow, regardless of the ROM, so I just did a factory reset using Clockwork Recovery and now I don't seem to be getting 3G anymore. I can still get data, just at 1X. It'll say "3G" when idle, but once I'm browsing, it bumps down to 1X again. This couldn't possibly be what was suggested not to do for 2.1 owners, was it? Despite being on 2.2?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've tried both ways. Settings, privacy, reset.Home plus power button while the phone is off.(Sd card is removed by the way)On the system recovery screen it says E:can't open /cache/recovery/commandI've tried using wipe cache partition then wipe and just wipe. It still goes back to my last settings. Even my wallpaper which is of a picture of my son is on there.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm having weird issues with my phone (browser crashing, wifi not automatically connecting, etc). I'm wanting to try a factory reset but not sure exactly what it will do. I understand it will remove my applications, but will remove other applications that were installed as part of HTC and verizon? Such as HTC sense, etc? Will I need to call up verizon and get them to reconfigure my phone after a reset?
