Does anyone know how to change the Internet icon so that when clicked instead of looking for the HTC site it goes straight to google or whatever homepage people wish?

Probably an old question, but if I want to get rid of the crummy Orange World "Internet" icon on my Desire, what are the options (other than rooting at the moment)?
Change to Opera/Dolphin or similar?
A nicer icon?
A nicer widget?
Haven't seen this but there must be a way of changing the standard shortcut icon?

I'm currently using dolphin hd and when using the search button it uses Google.com instead of Google.co.UK. thus giving American websites in results instead of .co.UK ones.

I downloaded Handcent SMS. Which I LOVE btw. It makes messaging so much better. However, I want to either change the Icon, or the Text below it. It's smaller and stick out like a sore thumb. And shit the icon down, it's a bit too "high" in comparison to my other icons.
How can I do this?

I have wifi at home, but I'm at uni now and my halls uses Ethernet cables instead of wireless so it's a bit of a pain not being able to update apps without it eating into my data allowance.

I have 500mb of internet and I dont know if my phone is on the internet after I close the browser. e.g. If I just return to the homepage after using facebook, does the browser automatically close and does not count as Internet usage anymore?

View 4 Replies View RelatedRight basically you can find the UK T mobile internet settings on the T mobile website. On the Speed Test app, the highest speeds I get are 1.8m/bs downloads and around 500kpbs upload. However, those were at off peak times at night etc (probably when nobody is using the net).Generally I get anything from 0.3 m/bs to 0.9 m/bs though. Lately I've been experiencing some inconsistent internet speeds and reconnection attempts so for I've gone back to the default settings. Tbh though I'm not sure if it makes much difference.

But whenever I try to flash a new ROM using ROM manager, the phone re-boots as normal, but I get a n icon of the phone with a red question mark above it... The phone then just re-boots as normal without flashing anything?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am in a deployed location in Afghanistan and within my compound, we utilize satellite internet and broadcast it via WIFI just for us who have paid. Some of the guys here have implemented a few security features so other people around us can hack our network. The WIFI is encrypted with WPA2 and a password.After that to surf on the internet on my laptop I have to input a proxy address of 10.10.8.2, I can connect to the wireless via my Desire, but I cant surf the internet, check email, or do anything that requires a data connection.Other people here have no problem getting their Ipod touches and Iphones on the WIFI.Is there some setting I am over looking because to me there are not a lot of settings I can change in the first place.If I need to download a program to help, please give info how to do so without an internet connection directly on the phone.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi've just upgraded to the Desire & am liking many things in it, but this issue bugs me:i've synced & linked the contacts in my 'people' app. in some cases, this involved linking the FaceBook profile of a person with a pre-exisitng phone number in my phone/sim card.The problem is that the phone seems to default to the Facebook 'profile picture' as the icon/photo that shows up in my People app (for that contact), even if tell it not to.I've tried downloading new pics, or taking a photo with the camera, and then manually setting this as the 'icon' for a certain person. This works for a while (a few hours?) and then within one day, the phone automatically re-sets this icon & replaces it with the Facebook profile pic. again.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI am on a debranded Orange handset running Android 2.2. Had the phone for around 4 months without issue. I went to London last weekend and started noticing problems with the mobile internet. I was largely relying on it to get me around but the mobile internet is playing up. Even if I have H or 3G signal, my phone has suddenly stopped getting internet access or i get network errors. Nothing has changed on my handset and I usually get good signal wherever I go. I'm currently in work where I always get 3G symbol. I have the 3G symbol now with both arrows animated yet my web browser won't load anything and the market place just says I have no network access. Could this be something to do with the Orange/T-Mobile merge? Or has my phone died on me?

When I try to open the Internet from my Internet app it opens the last page that I had last had open in my browser. I want it to clear cache/cookies and open the home I have it set to. Does anyone know how I do this?

My router doesn't support it, so I've had to do it on each device using it manually (boooo). Worked out how to do it on the PC and notebook, but is it even possible on my desire? Or should I go and buy a new router that DOES allow me to change it (in which case, any recommendations?)?

i really want to change the font on my phone and have been looking at a thread over at Modaco but couldn't really get the same results they got.My problem is that they say to push the new fonts into the Fonts folder on the SD card, but i dont seem to have one.Has anybody been able to do this with any success?

I have just realised the benefits of putting everything onto your Google account, and how it auto stores and updates your addresses, numbers, and emails etc. is there any way to change your phone contacts to Google contacts? without having to type them all out again. I can not seen to find how to do this.

When I enter events I cannot see a way of changing the color from the standard sky blue I always get. Changing the color tab for business and personal etc etc would be very useful.
