I have talk talk, and my internet is unusable unless I've lowered the mtu to 1458 or 1432 or something like that. My router doesn't support it, so I've had to do it on each device using it manually (boooo). Worked out how to do it on the PC and notebook, but is it even possible on my desire? Or should I go and buy a new router that DOES allow me to change it (in which case, any recommendations?)?

Does your HTC Desire need to be rooted so you can change the system font? For example the font below icons? I've had a look through these forums and not seen an answer to this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI rooted it last week with the unrevoked 3 method which seemed to go ok then i tried some different roms and some worked some didnt. I tried to install the r8-bravo-desire-modacocustomrom-withadditions-a2sd+-signed...! This rom got stuck on the white start up screen. I thought that if i cleared the sd card it would install but still the same thing then i just got the white htc screen which i cant get off and i cant load the recovery to change anything...! The sd card is working and i can get into the hboot and when it reads the sd card says wrong img! Is there something missing on the sd card? Have i bricked my phone? Any ideas on a fix?
View 31 Replies View RelatedHad my captivate for a month now(not rooted). I am really enjoying it as my first smart phone and the customization (Zeam launcher, Handcent SMS, etc) is really great. One thing that bugs me though are the soft keys. The way it is set up mainly. Why is the home key between the back and the menu button? and why do i need a search button. I understand the droid is google based, but really? why does it need a button dedicated to it. rooted phone can you change the function of the softkeys so i could have the search key do something different when pressed.

This morning everything was a bit sluggish, so I restarted it, and now it's going to the HTC "quietly brilliant" screen, and then reboots, it's stuck in this cycle. It's plugged into a power socket, it's certainly not a power issue.
Any ideas of what I can do to get this to load back up? I guess if this is bricked, I'm completely screwed, as Orange won't touch it now it's been rooted?
Received the upgrade from Telstra Australia today for my Desire. I'm not very good with the tech and software side of things (quite a dunce really) and have looked for a guide as to what to do prior to installing the update and also once completed. Is anyone able to steer me in the right direction as to where a good guide is or maybe a few pointers. My phone isn't rooted and is not something I want to gamble with being not techsavvy.

My phone keeps rebooting under load and it seems to be a hardware problem so I need to return it. Is there any easy way to return to the carriers official firmware so they don't refuse a warranty return?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a HTC Desire Bravo C I rooted it with clockwork mod and I went into the boot loader and clicked wipe data/factory reset I didn't know what it meant but now I cant turn on my phone! I can still load the boot loader menu and access restore..when I try to restore from a backup via the recovery menu it says the fallowing
-Restoring Data android_secure.img not found. Skipping restore of /sdcard/.android_secure.
-Restoring Cache sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restore of /sd-ext/.
-Restore Complete! I power it off then it puts me right back into bootloader.
With regard to phone calls dropping when on a nominal h/3g connection (as when I'm in the house I have a 3g/h reception 2 bars but when I pick the phone up it seems to drop out to g after a few seconds so if I answer a call on 3g/h a few seconds later the phone switches to g and disconnects me poor signal in the house I think but very annoying as I have to keep the phone on g only in the house and use WiFi for browsing at the moment)). I searched for some ROM radio files to flash to my rooted phone and found these 3 roms

Was wondering if anyone has looked into this and if there is anymore (possibly updated files) out there. At the moment I have downgraded to file 30.34 as this radio file seems to switch from g/3g/h the quickest and it's a bit more stable (still cutting to g connection once I've had the phone in my hand for a couple of seconds (think due to the receiver being in the bottom of the phone as someone else has reported), will check it's progress but all files give a similar reception.
Attempting to root and upgrade to CyanogenMod-6. I've followed all the steps here, and it appears to be successful according to the Unrevoked software. Now, the guide for Cyanogen is pretty vague, so I've been following this guide too. After Unrevoked states that everything was a success, I have to reboot the phone (hard reboot, pulling the battery out).
When I run Rom Manager, any flashing I do is followed by the reboot, which takes me to the Android splash screen for a second, then either the phone will go entirely black, or I will see the splash screen with a black bar on the top. I can't do anything at this point, and have to hard reset. I've backed up everything, and currently my phone is still fine, even after selecting "Wipe data" etc., in Rom Manager.
I'm from Switzerland and made a reservation on Nexus One from Orange (which is suppossed to be here in few days) but it appear that Orange changed my reservation to HTC Desire, the description on orange webpage even say for HTC Desire : "Google Nexus One par HTC".Oh and Orange Switzerland couldn't give me a date for the true N1.

i really want to change the font on my phone and have been looking at a thread over at Modaco but couldn't really get the same results they got.My problem is that they say to push the new fonts into the Fonts folder on the SD card, but i dont seem to have one.Has anybody been able to do this with any success?

I have just realised the benefits of putting everything onto your Google account, and how it auto stores and updates your addresses, numbers, and emails etc. is there any way to change your phone contacts to Google contacts? without having to type them all out again. When I enter events I cannot see a way of changing the color from the standard sky blue I always get. Changing the color tab for business and personal etc etc would be very useful.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo i rooted my phone this morning. Used the unprovoked to do this. I am not too technical so i needed an easy way to do this otherwise i might have bricked my phone.
Okay so now that i have rooted it i have the following questions:
1) i want to be able to save apps to my SD card (not on froyo yet) - i am not keen on these customized Roms and prefer something more standard what should i do?
2) how do i change the font on my phone
3) what else should i consider doing since i have rooted
With all of the above, hopefully they are easy to follow, as i mentioned i am not too technical.
I have rooted my phone and currently running DeFroST 2.7 Rom Android version 2.2, (did this back in early august) I basically would like to know what the current latest update for my HTC Desire is. Is there a newer DeFroST update out there or do i now update to Froyo 2.2? Also would like a pointer in direction of where to download the latest update from?

It doesnt matter what picture I do and now even if I pick a wallpaper from the wallpaper gallery they all change to the wallpaper of the sunset with the water and rocks... Even using launcher pro it acts weird I have to change what wallpaper I want using touchwiz switch to launcher pro reset it for it to show a wallpaper I want. This all seems a little odd and was wondering if anyone else has had a problem similar.
