View 4 RepliesMy last phone melted and I have to hold my hands up to say I never backed it up or synced it to an external source so when it screwed up I lost a lot of my contacts, not something I want to happen again.
Firstly do I want to save them to my sim or my phone, I would normally guess Sim card but cant they be saved to the SD card ? This would seem to be the best option ? When entering a new contact there is the option to save them to the gmail account that I set up so I could use the android market ? I don?t use gmail as I already have my own domain email accounts that I have had for years and I host through hotmail. As I have the account I am happy to use it as a dumping ground if there is the option of syncing all of my contacts to it ?
Then when I connect to HTC sense it wants to sync my contacts ..... Where is it trying to syc them to? Outlook ? I don?t use outlook but again if it will keep my contacts safe then I can use it for safety. Looking at my contacts there is the option to export to SD card, is this exporting from the sim ? Or from the phone?
I cannot manage to add and save new contacts on my phone. When I add a new contact and fill in all the info, I hit "save", a message says "contact saved". Right after this the new contact shows in the list of all contacts, but if I go out of the list, go to home or do something else with the phone then go back to the contacts' list, the new contact has gone. I tried several times, and the new contact always disappears even though it was previously saved.

View 6 Replies View RelatedFollowing the quick start guide on how to save a new contact, I saved a new contact to the Phone memory. However, after clicking on "Save", the contact does not appear in the contact listing. I have already selected "Phone" and "Sim" options in the View menu. Even the search function cannot locate the new contact. I have also tried restarting the phone...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems saving contacts. I have a number in my call history that wont save to contacts, when I save the contact to google contacts it stays in the people list for a few minutes then a few minutes later it disappears.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently called someone and wanted to add them to my contact list. In call history, I clicked the little file picture and added their name, saved it as a google contact, and saved it. If I go to People, the name doesnt appear. So I went to the People app, entered their info, made it a google contact, saved. Still didnt work. Even manually synced my google account. So then I changed the "view" to show every option and slowly ticked off each box til I realized that only if "show auto gmail contacts" is ON does my new contact appear. It was also "linked" to 3 other contacts (the same one that I kept adding over and over wondering why it wasnt appearing). So, of course I do NOT want everyone I've ever e-mailed in my contact list, so the question is, how can I add/save any contacts and make them appear in People?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have several hundred contacts and tons of calendar events on my Incredible. I have all of these on my gmail account which syncs with my INcredible. What is the best way to ensure that I never lose this information? I would imagine that it will always be on my gmail account??? If my phone were ever lost or stolen wouldn't it just be a matter of getting another phone and uploading from gmail to the phone? So, what is the best backup method out there for me? I am coming from a Palm Treo which I was able to sync with my desktop program.

View 3 Replies View RelatedTrying to learn all I can about the Rooted Droid. I've tried a couple of great ROMS, but each time I download and install a new one, I'm following the instructions and wiping everything. Although I thought I'd backed up appropriately with Titanium, my contacts always revert back to when I first bought the phone - they obviously didn't get backed up. Am I just missing something in Titanium, or is there a better way to save contacts and things like that? Also, are all of you literally starting from scratch each time you reboot with a new ROM - i.e. Are you literally having to start the "Welcome to the Droid", signin to Gmail, etc. screens or am I the only one?
