I remember someone posting a link where a Desire was scratched with a stanley blade (it had a broken screen) and it showed how tough the screens are.I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone remember the link/thread?

Specifically, I've heard that people have problems with the camera lens getting scratched because the phone rests on it if you lay it down on its back. Are there any cheap cases out there that can help solve the resting-on-the-lens problem? A cheap gel case off of ebay would be ideal.Also, what other steps should I take to protect the camera lens?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to play a video in my app. It has to be embedded.I am able to play my video using VideoView as mentioned in this discussion. But there are a few problems.
1. I need full screen video, how to stretch videoview to full screen ? will that stretch the video too ?
2. i dont need the default play forward stop buttons at all. basically I need continuous loop playing of the video.
What is the string format should look like if i have my video file in res/raw directory ? I really dont want video file played from sdcard. how can it be bundled along with the app ?if any of these 2 approaches works, i will be better off.
If I type a word in fast, the phone is still processing the first few letters. This is sometimes not always. Okay here is a good test, it also forms a lag in text messaging but only does it when I am sending a mass text message out to the maximum ten receipients. Please see if you can reproduce my problem. Again set the keyboard to android, open the stock messaging program, add up to the maximum ten contacts, then try composing a message. Does your keyboard processing come to a crawl also?

My problem: I don't seem to be able to dial from a link - like a phone number that's on a web page. it dials, but then number can not be completed as dialed. Is there a setting somewhere for this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis feature on my desire has never worked but im only just getting round to asking why. it happens when i get a facebook notification and drag down the notification pane from the top of the screen. when i get a "new poke" notification and tap the message it takes me to my facebook home page and i can respond to the poke, that works fine. however when i get a "new message" notification and i tap that it just redirects me to a blank page. ie the weblink doesnt work. is there anyway to edit the weblink for this notification so that it redirects me to my facebook homepage?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an incredibly annoying problem with my People contacts, where if I link a contact's Facebook account to their profile on my phone, People also decides to add in their phone numbers! This means I end up with duplicate phone numbers to choose from (for example, when selecting a contact to send an SMS to) or numbers that have been incorrectly added to Facebook by the contact (made up numbers or incorrect international dialing codes). All I want is to link the Facebook account and NOT have the contact details automatically added. The only contacts I have set up to view in People are my Google contacts - 'Facebook for HTC Sense' is unticked.

I have read that the notification area should now show an icon indicating that there are 'matched contacts suggestions' but it does not. I can go through individual contacts and link them, but I need to do them all in one go...

I have a WebView in my Android App that is loading an HTML string using the loadDataWithBaseURL() method. The problem is that local anchor links (<a href="#link">...) are not working correctly. When the link is clicked, it becomes highlighted, but does not scroll to the corresponding anchor.
This also does not work if I use the WebView's loadUrl() method to load a page that contains anchor links. However, if I load the same URL in the browser, the anchor links do work.
Is there any special handling required to get these to work for a WebView?
I am using API v4 (1.6).

Ii haven't made any big changes to my Desire and all was working well. suddenly a couple of days ago i noticed that things slowed down significantly.
exmples: when drawing the unlock screen, there is a big lag till the home screen comes up huge lag in opening programmes or menus
so, the only app i recently installed was the BA (british airways) android app. could this have affected the whole phone?
what steps can i take to check what might be wrong?looking at the SPARE PARTS app, i can see that CPU usage shows a huge bar for "init".i don't know if this is a normal process? anyone got info on this? might have nothing to do with my phone lagging of course.

View 24 Replies View RelatedAnyone know of a widget to simply lock the screen or put into sleep mode by pressing something on the screen rather than pressing the power button on the top of the phone. Tried looking around and unless I'm missing something (I am particularly good at missing the obvious!) there doesn't seem to be anything that does just that. Anyone know/come across anything that will do this? Does anyone know if this might be included in 2.2?

Sometimes when you put it down it goes onto desk clock or weather. ~Presume it does not has a shake to change screen facility or anything.Maybe its just me, the screen is very sensitive.It's just done it again, picked it up and it moved off the HTC scene onto weather.
