This is my first post. I have recently (2 weeks ago) gotten an HTC Desire, and am loving it so far. I've been browsing the forums and have found some great information. My problem: I don't seem to be able to dial from a link - like a phone number that's on a web page. it dials, but then number can not be completed as dialed. Is there a setting somewhere for this?

I've just received android 2.2 on the desire and like many wanted to use the new voice dialing!!! The only widget I can find is "voice search" but this seems to not be dialing specific and may choose to search the web for you etc. My question: Is there a dialing specific voice command widget, if not how do I do it properly?
I have a parrot bluetooth kit which usually prompts a phone to ask for a voice command. The desire although linked, doesn't seem to respond.
Does anyone know how to perform a call with voice dialing?. Holding down the magnifying glass button give two possibilities: do a research in Google or open Handcent app in order to send a SMS but nothing says about to make a call.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI wonder if I am doing something stooped here with my new HTC Desire The phone is successfully connected via Bluetooth to the Parrt car kit. What I used to do with my Nokias was click the green button on the car kit, say the name of the person I want to call and then the phone would call that person. That doesn't seem to work with the Desire. Nothing happens when I click the green button on the car kit. Any clues as to how to make this happen on the car kit.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI used to be a blackberry owner and was able to set the area code, etc in my phone (i.e. to put it to 1+780), but I cannot find this option on the desire. I see FIXED DIALING NUMBERS in settings, but all it does is ask for some password? Does anyone know how I can go about setting it so ALL my numbers will call the area code without having to edit my contacts?

View 9 Replies View RelatedThis feature on my desire has never worked but im only just getting round to asking why. it happens when i get a facebook notification and drag down the notification pane from the top of the screen. when i get a "new poke" notification and tap the message it takes me to my facebook home page and i can respond to the poke, that works fine. however when i get a "new message" notification and i tap that it just redirects me to a blank page. ie the weblink doesnt work. is there anyway to edit the weblink for this notification so that it redirects me to my facebook homepage?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an incredibly annoying problem with my People contacts, where if I link a contact's Facebook account to their profile on my phone, People also decides to add in their phone numbers! This means I end up with duplicate phone numbers to choose from (for example, when selecting a contact to send an SMS to) or numbers that have been incorrectly added to Facebook by the contact (made up numbers or incorrect international dialing codes). All I want is to link the Facebook account and NOT have the contact details automatically added. The only contacts I have set up to view in People are my Google contacts - 'Facebook for HTC Sense' is unticked.

I have read that the notification area should now show an icon indicating that there are 'matched contacts suggestions' but it does not. I can go through individual contacts and link them, but I need to do them all in one go...
I have tried syncing my gmail account but still nothing.
I dont care about facebbook right now. I have searched on the firum but pretty much every post is about facebook.
Ideally i just want all my contacts merged on the gmail account or for 'people' to show a merged list.

I have a WebView in my Android App that is loading an HTML string using the loadDataWithBaseURL() method. The problem is that local anchor links (<a href="#link">...) are not working correctly. When the link is clicked, it becomes highlighted, but does not scroll to the corresponding anchor.
This also does not work if I use the WebView's loadUrl() method to load a page that contains anchor links. However, if I load the same URL in the browser, the anchor links do work.
Is there any special handling required to get these to work for a WebView?
I am using API v4 (1.6).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Blueant S4 bluetooth speakerphone, Im trying to use the voice dailing feature with the new 2.2 froyo release and it sucks.....really. Even not using the blueant speakerphone and just using the phone trying to speak commands directly at it in a quiet room, it dosent even work. Example I tried to call my mother today when prompted I said "Call Mom" the phone decoded that as "Call Aubrey" lol which is a imporvement from the "nothing found" errors ive been getting....is there another app to replace the stock voice dialing application that works better?

You have to have the phone in your hand, activate the voice dialing, speak your request, then manually confirm your request on the phone its self.. I thought the whole purpose of the voice dialing feature was for hands free capabilities.. The way this program currently works renders it utterly useless. I have a Cardo Q2 setup for my motorcycle helmet.. which has a bluetooth phone link setup in it.. Its basically a bluetooth headset thats integrated into the helmet. Everything works fine with the G1 phone except the voice dialing. Does anyone know of a Voice Dialing app that basically revamps the factory program so that you can use voice dialing w/ your headset? I searched and searched but couldn't find any real answer to this question.

Rather poed that neither Verizon or Motorola knew what I was talking about. According to TV News this is a problem with almost every new smart phone. I now have an interconnected problem. I am having trouble voice dialing a call. Apparently many others are as well. What is the significance of the different NAME fields in "Contacts"? Which one will the Voice Dialer look in? View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm Rubenn from London UK and recently upgraded to a Hero HTC after having used a Touch Duo HTC for around two years. I, like may others contributing to your forum, am very sad that there is no way I can use my head set and voice dial out with this phone. What a step backwards as in many other respects, this is a wonderful phone although it will take me ages to get my head around all the other possibilities it offers. Is it possible that HTC will get out a patch that can be installed at some point in the near future.

What I NEED for this screen is to have 8 one touch phone contacts that I can clearly tell the difference between. The 8 would consist of 4 people, my 4 supervisors with both of their phone numbers (office & cell). I tried 2 folders, one for office and one for cell. I don't like it that way. Using these, in some cases will need to be quick, and the folder doesn't stay open when you move away from the screen. If I put them directly on the screen neither the icon nor the title show the difference between the office and the cell. Then I created groups for cell and office in Google contact.s I added the HTC People widget (the tall one) for both. The widgets, of course, stay open, but when I touch the button it only takes me to the contact card. An app, thoughts, suggestions?
