Oct 19, 2010Can anybody recommend a good lock and wipe program and also a good phone insurance company. Friend of mine had his Desire stolen last week, made me very paranoid now.

Motorola Droid :: Is It Ever A Good Idea To Wipe SD
Jun 12, 2010I was going to try a new ROM today, but since my last 2.2 update returned an "error" about not having an app2sd partition (and my SD card is getting somewhat "junky" anyway), I was thinking of just wiping the entire contents and reformatting prior to flashing.I made a mirror copy of my current SD contents to my computer (just in case), but I'm not sure if reformatting the SD is a bad idea.I'm also not sure at which point during the entire re-flashing process I should perform the reformat.Can anyone shed their opinion on if and when to do something like this?

Aug 29, 2010Every 6 - 12 months,I wipe my Windows laptop and start again, because uninstalling programs always leaves traces behind and eventually lots of stuff is left behind.My question is,would it be a good idea to do the same with my Android handset?I've noticed that sometimes an app will remember its previous settings if its uninstalled and reinstalled later.Does this mean loose files and settings are being missed? Does anyone else already do this?

Is there anything out there that will let me sync at least the calendar and contacts both ways via USB that does not involve using gmail? There are so many out there it seems but I don't have a clue which are any good. I don't mind paying for a quality product if it exists.

Oct 15, 2010Is there an app that can remotely wipe or lock your phone if it is lost or stolen ? There is all kinds of apps to locate it thru GPS, but if you don't have a signal it`s no good. I would rather wipe it and get a new one rather than have someone else looking thru my contacts.

I was interested in finding a good program with which to sync play lists, music, pictures, movies, etc. As it turns out, Media GO works really well. I have been using it as my default music player for some time now because of the "Sense Me" play list option. I'm still pretty new here and I hadn't seen anything posted regarding this program and it's INC compatibility.

I know iPhone does and the Palm Pre does after WebOS v1.1. I'm very interested in the HTC Hero but need to be able to connect to my corporate exchange server. It's a large company so I cannot have my device added to an exception list or anything.

May 15, 2010I know this isn't really a new topic, but search came up empty and auto search as I posted this thread was not helpful. Nothing in 2 months, and nothing for Dinc.
So I'm looking to change some of the default behavior for lock/unlock. I've seen a few peoples lock screens on other threads but haven't quite figured out what they are using.
I'm coming from BB Pearl where I had to hit "* phone" to lock and unlock and it was quick and easy. I like the pattern recognition on the Dinc for the extra security but I probably don't need it, especially until my name and alternate phone number show up on the lock screen so someone can return it to me if they find it. Perhaps I'll but my business card inside the new silicone case?
Anyhow, anyone know of a good lock/unlock app that changes behavior or modifies the lock screen in a way they thought was much better than default?

I tried lockbot, but it changes style on every lock, and it has some weird bug where if I use the button to lock it, it goes black, then the unlock screen appears (screen doesn't turn off). I do not care much about theming it myself as long as it has a halfway decent theme to begin with, but I do not want to pay for it (yes, I am cheap :P ) and want to get rid of the lag associated with the default lock screen.

Oct 28, 2010Is there a way to have a phone lock on the Desire, in the way it is used on "normal" phones? What I mean is that I need a phone lock for security reasons - however it is a pain to use it every time I turn the screen on. Is there a way to have it work only when you turn the phone on? Right now if yu don't have a phone/screen lock security set if someone steals your phone they take out the sim card and use the phone normally ... if you do have it, then you must use the password every time you want to use the phone (I hate it). I know the best thing is to have a secured access but I was just wandering if it was possible to do seomething different?

May 31, 2010I'm trying to write a program that needs smooth orientation sensor samples as the phone is rotated all around. Every time the orientation of the phone is changed, it interrupts the data and freezes the program while the layout changes. How can I lock it in one orientation (landscape or portrait, it doesn't matter)? I assume it has something to do with android:layout in the xml file, but I can't find anything online.

Jul 29, 2010I have an HTC Evo that hangs up on everyone that calls me.I keep the phone in my pocket and, in trying to pull it out to answer a call, my leg slides the bar.I could keep the phone in my pocket upside down and then I would answer every call but that isn't much of an alternative.I am looking for something that overrides the Sense's lockscreen/answer screen.I tried both GoTo and WidgetLocker.Both are great programs but neither addresses the incoming call issue.
