HTC Desire :: Add To Home For Arranging Apps Better
Sep 26, 2010
I have loads of apps now and things are sometimes hard to find. I was looking at the add to home for arranging apps better and found the folder option. I can place a folder on the homescreen and drag apps into it. I cant rename the folder eg games. I have seen screen shots where people have pics on there folders to. Can anyone help me out please? Edit: OK, I can rename, how do you put icons on the folders?

I have had my HTC Desire for about 2 months now and I have just accidentally learned that if you hold down the home button for about a second or 2, it brings up a neat little 'last used apps' screen. I am using LP so i don't know if it is part of Android or the launcher but I found this pretty neat.

I've done a bit of searching but haven't really turned up much.
Basically I just want to know if there's any apps available that will allow me to watch video files on my Desire over my home WiFi network.

When I go to my Bookmark section it is grouped together as pictures. I would like them to be listed from up to down without the pictures. Did it once but forgot how to do it. Hope you understand what I am talking about?

To get the car and desk home apps you see on the advertisment, you need market enabler, set it to us tmobile(long press the provider to set), then search in the market for 'desk home samsung vibrant' and 'car home samsung vibrant'.

I'm using textview objects to hold labels such as Score, Level etc on my game screen but they don't seem to be displayed where I want them to be. I understand about view hierarchies (parents, children) and am using the gravity tags in the XML layout file but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Could someone just quickly provide a guide to positioning a textview object on the screen, and also linking it in the code so that its contents can be pro grammatically controlled (I believe this would by done via =(TextView) findViewById(r.id.resourcename))? Code...

Fellas, I've got another question about my X10 Mini.I've been downloading many apps from Android Market and there are so many good ones, but also some others pretty awful. The thing is that unninstalling some apps from the phone leaves me gaps in the menu.I've got pages of the downer menu with only six icons, when the space allows 9. How can i re-arrange the icons to put them in order? Is there an option in the phone as it comes, or do I have to download an app from the market?

I have recently purchased an unlocked HTC Desire. As you may or may not know, here in Australia the only carrier of the Desire is Telstra. However I use 3 mobile so that's the reason I purchased an unlocked device.
My problem is that my phone has about a dozen or more apps which are installed by Telstra and uninstallable. Most of them are 100% useless because I'm not even on their network and I'd like them out of my applications list.
I've had a read around and I saw something about being able to remove them by deleting the file and then uninstalling them using a command prompt program.
Would anyone please be able to give me detailed instructions on how to do this because I'm not sure how to find the system/apps folder and I'm also not sure on how to get the command prompt thing to work.

Have the Eris. One of the things I liked about Nokias was you could download an app that would let you pull up a task/application switcher from any application by holding down a key.the Eris pulls up last six opened apps when you hold down home button, but there should be a way to open one of the various task switcher/kiillers and open apps using a similar method.Cant seem to find that in app store. am i missing something?

The Android Applications forum keeps misleading me because people talk about apps and features that aren't available in Android 1.5, so I thought I'd ask the other Moment owners about home replacement apps. I think I'd like something, but I'm really hesitant to pay for one that I may not like, and I also worry that I'd not really understand all I could do with one and therefore not truly appreciate it.
I've also seen very mixed reviews on nearly every home replacement app.
So I'm curious about the opinions of other Moment owners on these home replacement apps and also if there are any good places for thorough information on them.

Just curious for an opinion or two I've been tempted to download Open Home from Better Android because of all their cool icons, skins, and other things. At the same time, I see comments about it slowing down the phone significantly or causing all sorts of forced closes, etc.Are most people using and liking Better Android apps? I've got an HTC Dream, so I'm on the old operating system. Not sure if that makes a difference.

Leading up to my purchase of the new EVO I familiarized myself with some battery-life-saving tips. One of the tips was associated with reducing the number of Widgets on the Home Screen(s) that are pulling data in the background.
QUESTION: if one doesn't use widgets but uses App icons and Shortcuts does the addition of those NON-widget items cause the associated apps to launch by themselves in the background MORE THAN if they were NOT "short-cutted" onto the Home Screen pages??
I'm trying to determine how/what I'm doing that might cause apps to launch in the background when I don't really want them to. I'm using Advanced Task Killer to see what is running in the background and have NO CLUE why some stuff is turning on when they do. A recent LARGE list of running apps that I did NOT turn on coincidentally coincided with some Home Screen short-cut non-widget add-ons I recently placed.

Today I updated to the latest cyanogenmod and like I always do I restore all of my apps with Titanium. However, when I restored helix, none of my apps were restored to their appropriate home screen like it normally is. It's a pain to drag them all one by one again to where I want them. Am I missing something, or is there an app out there that will remember them next time?

This is an issue I've been having. I can be in any of a number of apps, and when I hit 'home' or back out of it, 20% of the time I get the white HTC evo screen and then it will redraw as if i had rebooted.I'm currently backing up in anticipating of doing a factory reset to see if that helps, but would love to avoid the hassle if I can figure out whats causing this beforehand.

Many people would like to see scrollable widgets on their Home. As you may know, current Android stock Home doesn't support it, and HTC Sense doesn't provide any API.We propose to create an open source standard for an Home extension code allowing devs to create 3rd party widgets which support scrolling (list view). The principe have been implemented, and succesfully tested in Home++ and Pure messenger widget. Now, after discussing with other Home creators, we'd like to generalize this and include it in other Home applications. Few other Home applications devs are already integrating the Home++ code to evaluate this (FreedHome, Tag Home and HelixLauncher 1).Here is the list of interested parteners: - Helix Launcher - FreedHome - Tag Home - ADW Launcher - LauncherPro beta - GDE.During this first phase we'd like to focus on scrollable widgets but other extensions could be imagined (animations, gestures)If Google wants to use it for the next Android release, we would be very happy, but for now, the goal is to include it in a large number of alternative Home applications.

So last night I went to change my battery and when the phone booted back up, a lot of programs were not installed anymore and I was getting about 3 other programs that were force closing right away when it came on.I tried to reinstall the apps, but I was still getting some force closes and general funny stuff going on.So I factory reset it and started from scratch again today. I got most of my apps reinstalled and thought it was fine. Then just a little while ago, I noticed that I couldn't browse the Internet or use the market. I rebooted and it was fine.A little while later I went to use my phone to make a call and when I unlocked it, all my home screens were blank! Reboot again and that fixed it.
