General :: How To Change Fonts On Xperia Arc S
Mar 9, 2013
I used the search button, my question is: I want to change the fonts on my xperia arc s. but not just with a third party app, that only half of the fonts are replaced, i want it so that every single letter in every app is changed. for example i have (as i said the arc s) and my girlfriend has the sgs2. when i compare my letters with hers in whatsapp, i have the same font as her (because of a third party app), but the name of the person i'm writing with is still the stock font. on sgs2 the font from the text and the contacts name are both the same.

How to change the fonts on your rooted Droid Eris. I'm not sure if this works for all Android phones, so backup your phone before proceeding. This DOES change key Android files, so be careful. If you brick your phone, it's not my fault.
First of all, go to this website and find a font you like:
1001 Free Fonts - Download Free Fonts for Windows and Macintosh
The file you download should be a .zip, and when unzipped be in the format .TTF. Copy the .TTF file to your SD card. I suggest SDCard/Fonts/. After finding a nice font, download Type Fresh from the Market (free). Also, pick up AndExplorer (free) while you're there. Type Fresh will allow you to change your fonts, and Andexplorer is used as a handy file explorer.
Run Type Fresh, and it will display all the system fonts that Android uses. Touch DroidSans, and it will display a window using AndExplorer. At this point it should request superuser permissions; allow it. Find the folder with your fonts, select a font, and press okay. Press menu and select apply fonts. Allow it to reboot your phone when it asks, and afterwards you should have a nice new font to make your Eris even sexier.

This is my first post. I've had a Moto Droid since day one, and I just love it. It is without a doubt better than any phone that I've had over the years, and that includes the iPhone, BB, etc. However, there are 2 things that I don't understand - Font size and a spell checker. It is impossible to read the small font size in emails or text messages. 1. Why has there not been an app to either change the font size or be able to zoom in? Picasy has incorporated multi-touch for zooming, so I've to assume that its doable! Why not have the same in an email client. 2. Why is there not an email client out there that allows for spell checking? There are many such apps for the BB! I am a terrible speller. I am not complaining, I just want to understand the limitations from a developers prospective, as I am sure these issues will eventually be addressed.

how to change shuttersound on Xperia Arc s?
Im rooted and was playing around in rootexplorer the other day. And found system/media/camera map!
It contains maps named "sound1 sound2 sound3 sound4" (map sound4 contains the "silent shutter sound")
I thought for myself, hmm yeah.. Lets try customize the shuttersound! *Yaay* So i downloaded some nice sounds from internet and converted them into m4a (cause thats the original format in the "sound1"/2/3/4 maps) Every "sound" map contains 3 m4a sounds. I Renamed my 3 downloaded soundeffects to the same name as on phone wich is start_rec.m4a stop_rec.m4a and shutter.m4a And i replaced them into one of the "sound maps".
I choosed the "sound2" map cause thats a horrible shutter sound on the Arc!
Now i right clicked and checked properties to make sure they had the same properties as the original m4a's, and they had!
So i restarted the phone and opened camera and tried change shuttersound to my new awesome one "shuttersound nr 2" But nothing happens. When i changed to "sound2" in the (camera menu) my sound won't preview play, as the other shutter sounds. So nothing happens. I check sound2, goes back and takes a photo. The old enoying sound is back. (Even though I has moved them from the sound2 map) So ive tried to do it all over, in different formats. I have tried ogg wma and mp3. Still not working!
So i gave up for the day and replaced the original sound effects back to the sound2 map. They still working (wich is good) even though i've moved them around on the sd card various times (like a backup if something goes wrong, as it did)
So im pretty much back to stage 1. All shuttersounds works great but are aweful! And i still want to change sounds.
If you have read this far and still doesnt understand my bad english im talking about the sounds when you take a photo, start recording and stop recording. I really want tho replace them

Is it possible to add more fonts to use, by loading them from my PC via the USB connection ? Or how can I use the fonts I have on my PC on my S4 without having to go the app route ? I have a couple of True type fonts I'd like to use, but need to know how to install them on the phone.

Started to explore the matter of changing/adding fonts via settings/device/font style. From there you have to option to pick a pre-installed font or click below on "get fonts online". I can't seem to understand why none of the font packs will work. They install and populate in the font list under settings/device/font style however when ever you select one it tells you it's not compatible and continues to ask if you'd like to uninstall the font pack.
