General :: Android 2.3.4 And 4.1.2 - Copying Ringtones From One Phone To Another?
Jan 28, 2014
I have two cellphones, different brands, android 2.3.4 and 4.1.2. On the first phone there are some stock ringtones I like that are not on the other phone (both regular ringtones and notification ringtones). I want to copy the ones I like from the first phone and put them on the second phone. I tried looking through the folders on the first phone and can't find any ringtones. Neither of the phones are rooted.

I'm developing an app that backs up and restores the saves of all Angry Birds Versions. For devices with Android 1.5 or higher I've written a simple input/output file stream, and it works.
On device with Android 4.1 or higher (due probably to the increased security) the Angry Birds saves require more permissions to be copied from my app (rwx isn't enough). Is there a way to change the permission adding root access in my app or is there a solution without adding root?

moving contacts from one android device to another, or from an iPhone to an android (or viceversa)!!
This is my scenario: I've got my android tablet (the asus transformer) and I have 3 accounts set up there, 2 are gmail accounts (say, account A and account B) and a third corporate account (exchange activesync, call it account C)
I used account B when I was in my last job and have a lot of business contacts there. What I want to do is to have a simple way of copying some of these business contacts over to the exchange account (account C). I also would like to copy a couple from account A (personal stuff) into account C.

What is the difference between installing an apk in the normal way, and just copying the apk to /data/app and then rebooting?
If i use the copy method, some apps work while most give FCs....

I have an Acer Iconia A500 tab, rooted. The problem is everytime I try to copy an MKV file to the SD inside my tab my windows crashes and restarts. I tried copying other files to the SD and it works like the charm, but when it comes to MKV files it crashes. Note I can copy large files into the SD just not MKV files This makes me mad for a good reason. I've tried and tried solutions, but seem to not come to a happy understanding.
P.S! I have ICS also I do not know why I can't mount my external HDD to the tab either.

Ive been searching around to find either a gallery or an app that would show me my dropbox videos and pics in the gallery without copying them tovthe device.
I have a samsung galaxy s3 i9300 and a dropbox account. But would like to see my dropbox photos in the gallery.
Ive used foldersync from the market but that just copys the files across so not what im looking for.
Ive heard that the note 2 has this function and also htc sense.
Another thing to note is that the main reason i am reasearching this is because i am making the move to the nexus 4 so would have to work with that.

move photos/videos to a pc from a connected android device (phone). The device does not present itself as an external drive, but rather as a connected device. Both types of files are located in the DCIM folder. If it was an external drive, I could create a batch file to do it, but this way i'm not able to.

I am using the ES File Explorer on my HTC One M8, but it doesn't allow me to copy pictures on my SD card. Root Explorer also not. Is it because of Kitkat? Are there any other file browsers that allow copying stuff to the SD card?

The reason I KNOW its not me changing these ringtones in all of the assignable designations for media files to be played for the ringtones and such is that I have not a single of my music files within any of these settings as an option to assign in the first place. They are showing up randomly. This morning I awoke to Rock n Roll by Led Zeppelin, and earlier today a friend called my whose ringtone was changed to 99 Red Balloons.
Let me reitterate; I have never assingned a music track as a ringtone, alarm, or notification. The previous ringtone still exists in my library and is functional IE; i can reassign the same ringtone to a person again. I THINK that only ringtones which are NOT DEFAULT are changing. What is going on here? I have lookout AVP app loaded and running at all times.List on my runnng apps on EVO:
1 Advanced Task Cleaner 2.0; dont roast me; ive read your theories, and am not having a ram leak. But am not ruling out the problem
2 Alarm Clock
3 Google Partner Setup
4 Google Search
5 Google Search Enhanced
6 HTC DM
7 HTC Sense
8 HTC widget download manager
9 Lookout
10 Mail
11 Messages
12 My uploads
13 People
14 Settings
15 Touch Input
16 Updater
17 Voice Dialer
18 Voicemail
19 Weather
20 com.htc
I do have an abundance of navigation (gps, turn by turn, ect), some news, a widget for quick settings (wifi, bluetooth, ringer on/off, gps), Music (shazam, pandora tunee music, The house FM christian radio) Astro file manager, Emulators, facebook integration.I have noticed some coming on by themselves. Ill try to note when I have done nothing to activate them.

I'm using a Legend atm- and I'm thinking of getting the Desire/Galaxy S, but I'm not sure how I can copy back over my contacts from my Phone to my SIM card. When I first got the phone I copied over my contacts from my SIM to my phone and then cleared out the SIM card- but now I don't get an option from People to Export to SIM card, but I get the option to Export to SD. Having done so I'm not sure if I did it properly because there also isn't an option under View to see info from the SD card- only from Google, Phone and SIM.I really can't be bothered getting an app for this lol. I don't really want to do Google Sync because it isn't exactly as re-assuring as having the info in a SD/SIM card you can hold.So really how do I copy over my contacts from Phone to SIM/Phone to SD Card? And how can I check to see if I've done so properly (I will uncheck Phone from the View menu in People)?Also- how to move all my SMS's from my Phone to SIM/Phone to SD as well?

I'd like to be able to copy files from a PC on my wireless network, to my SD card, without having to connect my phone (HTC Hero) to my laptop via a cable.I've found Estrongs' ES File Explorer, but I can't manage to get the connection setup via the "add server" thing. No matter what settings I put in there, it just denies that the server exists. I've read the FAQs on their website, but I can't see anything to help. Are there any other apps or ways that I can use to copy files from my PC wirelessly?

I going to want to make my own ringtones soon, and I am wondering what everyone recommends is the BEST or better way for me to get my music onto my phone and storing it. For example, is it better to put music on my phone with the music app, clip and cut my ringtone in that app and store my tones that way.
Or is it better to clip up a song on my computer using something like Audacity and then send it to my phone via Bluetooth or USB Tethered? And if I did do it that way, where would I store it on the phone, folder, some in depth storage preference? I am a new Smart phone user, so I am looking for the best way to store my ring tones on the phone without making it bogged down and the best way to make my tone and transferring it to my phone.

I have Nonsensikal ROM installed on this Eris and occasionally make my own mp3 ringtones. But they never show up in the default list of available ringtones. Is this by Eris design?I know how to add a custom ringtone but was just curious as to why I cant include it in the default listing area rather than having to go to my music gallery.
