When I do a restore, I'm able to copy files from my PC to phone, but the time/date of file is lost. The files on phone show the current date. I've tried copying via WiFi and USB with the same result. How to preserve the time/data info of file?

Are there any apps available which can preserve home screen layouts for a Galaxy S4 which uses the Atom launcher.
The reason why I ask is that I may need to do a clean wipe and I don't want to have to waste nearly half an hour or so recreating the folders which store the apps that I want to be on each home screen every time I do a clean wipe to install a new Version of echoeROM.
I was just wondering if it was possible to show time/date on photos for Samsung galaxy s ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm developing an app that backs up and restores the saves of all Angry Birds Versions. For devices with Android 1.5 or higher I've written a simple input/output file stream, and it works.
On device with Android 4.1 or higher (due probably to the increased security) the Angry Birds saves require more permissions to be copied from my app (rwx isn't enough). Is there a way to change the permission adding root access in my app or is there a solution without adding root?
I have an Acer Iconia A500 tab, rooted. The problem is everytime I try to copy an MKV file to the SD inside my tab my windows crashes and restarts. I tried copying other files to the SD and it works like the charm, but when it comes to MKV files it crashes. Note I can copy large files into the SD just not MKV files This makes me mad for a good reason. I've tried and tried solutions, but seem to not come to a happy understanding.
P.S! I have ICS also I do not know why I can't mount my external HDD to the tab either.
Ive been searching around to find either a gallery or an app that would show me my dropbox videos and pics in the gallery without copying them tovthe device.
I have a samsung galaxy s3 i9300 and a dropbox account. But would like to see my dropbox photos in the gallery.
Ive used foldersync from the market but that just copys the files across so not what im looking for.
Ive heard that the note 2 has this function and also htc sense.
Another thing to note is that the main reason i am reasearching this is because i am making the move to the nexus 4 so would have to work with that.
my problem is that when i get to the date and time page in settings, it is shown that i can only check the time format and date format, i cannot do anything about set date.

With BlackBerry there were several pre-programmed phrases that could be entered by typing a couple of letters. For example "ld" would enter the date in the specified long date format. The user could add to the dictionary just about anything they wanted.
Any Android app that will do the same thing?
Simple app, for rooted, to set the date and time? Something similar to the the option you normally find in the Settings.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung centura. If I let the battery get too low the phone defaults back two hours. Today all of the sudden it was set 6 hours ahead... FB says my current posts were yesterday and the responses are tomorrow. Confusing. My usual fix of turning off and back on the automatic date and time has no effect. According to my settings I am set tothe eastern us time zone which I am. I manually changed the settings but that seems to be a temporary fix. What am I doing wrong?

After activating the phone, it displayed the correct date and time for my time zone, so I didn't mess around with settings to reset the time, as I would with any other device.
However, I've noticed that the time changes to exactly an hour ahead, before changing itself back several minutes later.
I went to settings > date and time, but 24 hour time and selecting a date format are the only options listed.
I prefer to leave mobile data off when I am at home and can use the wi-fi. Is it necessary to have mobile data turned on, so the phone can receive the time from a cell tower, or is there a way I can set an internal clock?

The metadata displays the time of the file transfer, instead of the original time/date the photo was taken. I'm OCD and a stickler for getting my files in order, so having all my pics/vids in the Gallery app display in the wrong order is really bugging me.
Initially I used My Backup Pro to move the files over, then deleted everything and transferred them from GNex -> Macbook -> Nexus 5 via Android File Transfer. Files were transferred fine, but the time/date stamp is still wrong.

Nothing works.It is as if copying works for the first file (though not always), but then the phone resets the connection and I have to re-enable the connection.The USB drivers are from the CD. I have the latest firmware. Is there some trick to enable proper copying to and from the i7500? This is driving me nuts.

The script is easy but I don't know how to automate it. I'm running 4.2.2 on an HTC One X+. I'm rooted and have busybox 1.22.1 installed.
The fstrim script is as follows:
date >> /sdcard/fstrim.log
fstrim -v /data >> /sdcard/fstrim.log

it is located in /data/local/fstrim.sh
I switched recently from a black berry to an Android 2.3 powered device - Samsung Stratosphere on Verizon.
Email invite messages from Outlook for meetings do not show the calendar detail. Specifically, I can not see the date and time of the meeting invitations. I can perform actions to "Accept", "Decline", or Tentative" the meeting invitation. Unfortunately, there isn't any meeting detail so I don't know when the meeting is scheduled.
This is very frustrating and makes the Samsung Stratosphere or possibly the Android platform not fit for corporate environments. If I can not get this to work I will be switching to an iPhone and I will recommend to my entire corporate enterprise that we avoid Android based Smart Devices.
The Black Berry BEZ environment also provided information on meeting conflicts when you are sent a meeting invitation.
So I plugged my new Captivate into my PC (Windows 7 64-bit) and the Captivate says it's connected, but the PC shows no signs of it being connected. I called SAmsung support, and from what I could understand of what the "tech" told me, this is a bug, and there's no way for a PC to recognize the Captivate unless there's a memory card installed. is this correct? Once a 16GB memory card is installed, do you have 64-GB of storage space you can use for music, etc?
This seems like a mammoth problem - do they have any timeframe for a fix for this? Or is the "tech" incorrect? I can't believe I just bought a brand new "Smartphone" to replace my old mobile phone and MP3 player, and I can't copy files to it. Help!
Should Samsung Kies be selected as the USB setting? That's the default.
Not sure how but I lost the BIG DATE , time, local weather, etc on my main screen. I still have my shortcuts on the lower half of screen, but the top half (where the DATe, etc was) is just open space.
