View 3 RepliesDoes anyone use them and are they still needed? I have heard that Android has built in virus protection. In another I read that Android is not capable of getting viruses. Can anyone elaborate on this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter reading about the android not needing a task killer, since its linux based and it could make it worse, I got rid of it. Would this be true for security apps, such as firewalls and virus protection, are the really needed I could understand the one that helps find your phone. I have lookout installed and it says it does a virus check after an app is installed.

Could someone with good battery life on a Galaxy S post their batterstats.bin file?
I'd like to try this fix and not sure if the batterystats file would work from the other thread since its a different phone.
From the Greek guy that recently compared Super Amoled vs Amoled vs Lcd....
He says that the 5mpx camera is excellent in day but in dark places without the flash it is not very good....the 720p is nice but he is not impressed.

My antivirus shows a virus in the clockwork mod but I am not sure whether it is a virus or a program to root the phone. Whether I delete it or keep it. The name of the file is shown as riskware!lotoor.d@android. Is it a part of clock word mod or is it actually a malware.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI opted not to pay the monthly charge for insurance, so I want to get a case. I think a rubberized/silicon molded case would be best. I don't see any after a quick search of Amazon. I'm also gonna put a Zagg Invisishield on it.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am having my Galaxy S delivered tomorrow and was wondering what protection people are using. I was going to use some sort of film protector, such as Zagg invisible shield and a Flip Case. But the only flip case I can find for the Galaxy S looks horrid, and I am not sure on the texture of Zagg Invisible Shields.I have also considered silicone gel cases, but I am having trouble finding one that is nice, and pouches in combo with a screen protector. What would you use and if I did buy a screen protector, which brand should it be, I want one that will protect but with minimum difference to the feel or colour of the screen.
View 18 Replies View RelatedI recentrly tested a few apps from the market changing the location using fake gps points. All of them work perfect but the locations sent via apps ( facebook for example) they show Bing maps not Google ones. I prefer gmaps because for my country they show every single street and building. Bing hasn't done that yet. What app works with google sources?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible for an app(or virus) on android to place shortcuts on the main page of my launcher?
If so, how can I find out what is causing this and remove it.
Google verify apps now has an always on scanning mechanism for catching harmful apps, but little is talked about if this is all you need now, negating the need for a 3rd party virus protector or not. So what the ideal config is with this now?

Antivirus I picked up it appears a virus, my Samsung S3 mini does not read simcards anymore. The Antivirus told me my IMSI number has been changed, giving me the new and old ones. A motherboard replacement and a firmware upgrade did not solve the problem.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to buy a couple of android devices for use by our sales representatives. However I want to put some files (powerpoint presentation, pdf or photos) on those devices which I want to lock against deletion by a user.
Is there a software to achive it?
Protection can be secured with a password, pin or whatever.
I tried to find such a program but no luck.
Theft protection software is crucial these days on every smartphone and chosing the right one is not really easy. I've only been using SeekDroid and have been thinking about trying Prey so far, but while I read an article about Theft Aware functioning beyond factory reset of the phone, this riddle came to my mind:
What if the phone gets stolen by someone knowing how to flash a new ROM or read about it? I've got 4EXT (always latest version) installed - is there some software that integrates into recovery and cannot be deleted without the correct code or something?
I would like to learn on how to edit an apk that has cheat protection to remove it cause most of the games I play can't be cheated.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI think android is missing one feature of daily use. It is sd card password protection. I want to protect my sd card data with password but I don't find any app or any thing to do this. on my old nokia cell , protecting sd card was very easy. I want to protect my sd card so if i lost my sd card then no one access files on my sd card ..........
At this time i have no nokia set so i want to know if my sd card is password protected and i put this sd card in my android set then what will happen??? will it work and ask me for password??????
I just bought a new Epic 4G and I can't stand the phone app that came with the phone. I tried installing phone dialer and while a little better it still not that great. I had an Evo before and I actually liked that phone app as well as sense all together but I won't go there.
So any recomendations for a better phone application? I'm willing to pay.
I am due for an upgrade but I am not sure if I should get the HTC Desire or wait for the Samsung Galaxy S? So basically here are the pro's and con's: Galaxy pro's: 4 inch Super AMOLED screen is superior to the Desires Camera is superior, can record HD video More attractive (IMO), even though its close 1500mah battery (longer battery life than Desire's 1400mah) No flash player (how good is the Desires flash player anyway?)
View 49 Replies View RelatedLooking for a good email app for my Samsung Epic (Galaxy S). It is essential that I not have to have a Gmail account to download it as I have problems once I setup Gmail. I need POP3 and IMAP, and I have multiple accounts. The only thing I see by searching is K-9. I would appreciate any user experiences with the app, and I am open to other alternatives.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA few weeks back, when I was considering to switch to Galaxo or not, we had a thread here mentioning an odd issue,
Every 3rd picture taken with the camera app would be bad (or just a dud).
At the time, I couldn't reproduce the issue and it didn't bother me. But, just today afternoon (and a bit early in the week), I encountered something similar - every other picture had a 50% chance of being bad (just blank). It got to the point that the camera was just un-usable. I spent a good bit of time investigating this and I think I have an explanation. But first, let me walk you through what I did.
By default, I keep my camera to take 5 Megapixel shots at "super fine" setting. With that, I couldn't take any good shots AT ALL. I reduced it to 1M and "normal" setting. Things were a bit better, in that now only every other shot was bad. But, at least I was able to use the camera.
I use 3 desktop screens filled with widgets. I disabled most of my widgets and reduced the number of screens to 2. (I'm running Drakaz's darksense theme for Galaxo 1.6.3 ). With this, the camera was MUCH better. In fact, I could take 5 shots continuously without any problems (testing at home).
In some ways, it looks like I was stretching the limits of my i7500 a bit too much and so, the camera just didn't work right, but I can live with fewer screens and fewer widgets.
I miss the Handcent SMS widget, but from what I observed, its too resource-intensive for my needs. The only widgets I use now are from "Jorte" , the organizer app (really good too!) and "SMS Im Away".
So, for those of you who need the camera in working order, consider disabling a few screens and widgets.
Can u get virus's on HTC hero?? If so some how??
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to get a virus on this device? I got a text from a few friends saying that they got an email (which was send to everyone in my Google contacts) with a Spam link for some Russian website. I only check my email from my Mac Book Pro or my Incredible. The password is unique from any other account I have, and it was recently changed. I am 100% sure no one knows what it is. Now it has been changed, and my Google account (my primary account, the one that everything from the phone syncs with) has been disabled my Google. I'm trying to figure out how this happened so it doesn't happen again.
