Does anyone use them and are they still needed? I have heard that Android has built in virus protection. In another I read that Android is not capable of getting viruses. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Would this be true for security apps, such as firewalls and virus protection, are the really needed I could understand the one that helps find your phone. I have lookout installed and it says it does a virus check after an app is installed.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I loaded the new release of froyo petes v.04 and earlier when trying to use the built in wired tether option it defaults to a web-page about upgrading to a tethering plan. It says that they are offering it for $5 off until july 15th. Wireless tether still works fine but just wanted to know if anybody else got this message when using the built in program on the new froyo release. I was able to use this option in the earlier versions of froyo without the message. Update, so I completely missed this already reported on phandroid so I guess I was just getting the message others have already reported.

IS there any fone protection that will allow me to put it in the station without having to take it out of the every time?I would think this would make the case not stay on so well from repeatedly taking it off and putting it back on.The case I bought, unfortunately, did not come with screen protection like I thought it would. It's simply an empty front. Therefore does anybody have a suggestion as to what case covers the whole thing to avoid screen scratches?

I am using vpnc on my computer to connect on my university VPN. Once again, the configuration is not straightforward, but, mainly, I use IPSec, I have an ID for the VPN, a gateway URL, a secret word, IKE Authmode of PSK, IKE DH Group, Xauth username, Xauth password, I need to enable Single DES, and I have two 'target networks'.
The fact is that Android (2.1)'s built-in VPN does not ask me all these info. It keeps asking for a pre-shared key (this is evidently the contrary of the certificate method), but I do not have such a pre-shared key. Connecting (to the VPN) through my computer works perfectly. What can I do to make Android compatible with the VPN?
