Do i really need an anti virus on my moto droid like Norton? Im non rooted?
Last night I downloaded antivirus free by droidSecurity inc.I ran a scan and it said I had something suspicious but would not allow me to view any details. Eh lame, I removed the app and jumped into bed.Today I was out driving around and got a warning my internal Phone memory was low. I took a look and it said 150 MB free.so I rebooted the phone and maybe I was being dumb because I thought you could cancel the SIM password and use the device as a PDA with no access to make phone calls.Anyhow I restored my clockwork recovery nandroid backup from a couple of days ago and now things seem better. Phone has 0.9 GB free. Are there any good applications to help manage the available memory on the phone?

View 4 Replies View RelatedAn important part of creating an android application is making the gui look right. However where do I find documentation for this. An example of what I am looking for is something like this
style="@android:style/ButtonBar"
what other interesting styles does exist. The eclipse layout xml editor knows about some of the @android:style/'s but not this one. Where is all this documented?
I'm beginning with Android development. I'm aware that there is a lot of Android devices still on OS 1.5 or 1.6 so I'm thinking about require API level 3 as minimum to support them. What will I miss from 2.2? Which are the most important features I will miss targeting Android API 3 (OS 1.5) instead of most recent API?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI think I've found quite a serious problem with the Google maps for Android update that just came out late last week.I have a Latitude account, but I havent signed it in on this phone as I don't want battery and data being wasted updating my location, plus most of the time the whole location tracker thing is a bit Big Brother for me anyway. But after the update, one of my friends warned me that i had appeared on Latitude, and it turns out that the update signed me in there and set itself to automatically update my location. If this is happening to others, this represents a serious lapse at Google - it should be up to me to switch on the service, it should not automatically sign in - let alone automatically update my location! This phone has never prompted me to switch it on, and that is not acceptable. My location is a private matter and my battery life and data are precious, goddamnit.
View 24 Replies View RelatedIt bugs me that some phones are omitting the lanyard loops. Look at the Nexus One that doesn't have it: http://gizmodo.com/5451349/look-at-this-broken-nexus-one
iPhone didn't have it.
Pretty lame that some phones now are designed without this feature.
I have a ton of crap on my SD card, including old velocity information and I'm using Raptor so I don't think I need it. I was wondering if someone has or could create a list of the needed files on the SD card so I can delete the ones I don't need. I have folders for apps which I don't have on my phone anymore and i don't want to remove them if it is going to mess something up.

View 14 Replies View RelatedHi guys. So I'm going to root my phone, and to avoid any complications at all, I think I'm going to factory reset my phone. I heard that some apps (ie dropbox) can interfere with the root process so I'm just doing this so I don't get any complications. I'm making a list of all the things I should write down from my phone before I reset it.
So far, I have:
contacts
notes
passwords
apps
settings

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Nexus One running 2.3.4 and it looks like the gmail app version is 2.3.4.2 and I've noticed they've now incorporated the 'Important Labels' functionality into the app.
Problem is, I don't like/use/desire the important labels and now they're cluttering up my inbox view with a little yellow chevron next to the sender's name and the 'go to inbox' in the menu has moved and where it was is a 'mark important'
I had a look through the settings and I don't have priority inbox as my default, under label's there is a sync option for 'Important' which is set to 'None'.
Also I don't have the important labels for the web version of gmail proper on.
I think I may have accidentally marked one email on my phone as important (because that's where the go to inbox button was) so perhaps that's why they are showing up?
Any way to turn off/hide the important labels. Really annoyed that Google is making me find out how to opt-out of this feature rather than just asking if I wanted to opt-in

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to get a virus on this device? I got a text from a few friends saying that they got an email (which was send to everyone in my Google contacts) with a Spam link for some Russian website. I only check my email from my Mac Book Pro or my Incredible. The password is unique from any other account I have, and it was recently changed. I am 100% sure no one knows what it is. Now it has been changed, and my Google account (my primary account, the one that everything from the phone syncs with) has been disabled my Google. I'm trying to figure out how this happened so it doesn't happen again.
