General :: Way To Make Android Not Pause Music / When Navigating
Dec 16, 2012
Any way to make Android NOT pause my music when I'm navigating? Whenever navigation speaks it pauses playback.I would rather it just turn down the music and speak over the top of it. The iphone apparently does this and for some reason Pandora does it but nothing else does.

I've heard of people having problems with playing music while navigating with Pandora. I've never been a big Pandora user, I hated the fact that I only got a limited amount of skips. I've used Last.FM since I got my phone. And today, I was playing music through Last.FM and navigating and had absolutely no problem. If you're having this issue with Pandora + Navigator, you may want to consider switching to Last.FM.Also this shows that this isn't a problem with 2.2 particularly because there are music players that don't stop when navigation voice plays. Now that we know Last.FM doesn't have a problem, is there a MUSIC PLAYER on the market that will play the MP3's we have saved on our phones without this issue?

Currently android devices play/pause on audio cable plugin. But I need it to do the exact same thing with the charge cable. Mainly because I use a dock for music playback on one of my stereo's and would like to just drop it into the dock and it will start playing, or pull it and it will pause

Everything works fine but when a phone call comes while a song is playing the app does not pause the media player and you can hear the song during the phone call. Please tell me how to pause media player on a phone call and again resume it after call is ended.

I just got my Hero yesterday (coming from an iPhone 3GS). I have a major issue with the fact that if I am listening to music through the headphones and I receive a call, the music pauses. But when I remove the headphones to answer the call (I don't like using the headphones or any other bluetooth device to talk into) and am done my convo, as soon as I hang up the music starts blaring (leading to embarrassing moments etc).
Is there any way to make it so that it pauses after a call until I press play again? I tried every music player in the app store I could find but nothing did this, other than Astro Player which is not what I want in a music player (no organization by album, artist, playlists etc.)

The camera button just sits there useless until the camera is used. How about letting us map that to a function? Personally, I would like to be able to use it as a Pause/Play toggle. When I am out and about listening to music, I very often need to pause. Currently, this requires pulling out the phone, pressing the power button, swiping it open, and (if the music screen is up) pressing pause. That is WAY too long, and a simple hardware button would be perfect.

I'm using the packaged headphones with my Samsung Epic. One thing I've noticed is that I am unable to pause or skip tracks with the headphones. This was something I could do with my G1 and Palm Pre. Can the EPIC do this as well? Or it just the headphones? Can someone confirm?

I am having trouble hearing the beeps that are heard for incoming calls when I am listening to music. Is there anyway to change this to something more obvious?
Either making it louder and the music playing quieter, or even pausing the music and notifcation sounds or ringtone playing would be good. I cant seem to find a fix. I am missing many calls like this.

I'm hoping for some pointers. I simply want two buttons.. nothing more, to allow me to control my music.I know, I know. "Why not just use the music widget?" Cause it's ugly (in my opinion).With Bettercut, I'm aware that you can create your own shortcut, but you have to have the source code or some sort of.androidaction.blah in order to create it. I'm just curious if I could use that or if there's something out there that's better.I don't need to know the artist or the song that's playing, I just, well, I miss the days of double clicking my home button and hitting next or stop with my iPhone. That's what it boils down to. So, if there's a way to get the music controls on the lock screen... well, that would even be better.Anyone have some suggestions? I have searched and searched for some sort of resolution, but it's been to no avail. Or, I could have just been searching for the wrong thing.

Google Music. My only caveat is making a playlist available offline temporarily, and then deleting it once I'm done.
It makes sense for the subway, etc.
I'll load up a new album, and I normally listen to the album as a whole and then get rid of it to free up space (and to decide which songs make it to my main playlist).
I'm using a HTC One X, so 16gb is a bit limiting and I can't have it full of music.

I want to use the SDK (PackageManager API) and dump all packages, their activities and the intent filters the activities use. So far navigating from the Context -> PackageManager -> ActivityInfo is easy. I am stuck trying to figure out how to retrieve the mappings from Activity -> Intent-Filter. Looks like from what i could tell from the SDK documentation, i can obtain the ResolveInfo (if i know the Intent). But how do i retrieve Activity to Intent-Filter mapping?

I have 3 Activities that my user continuously is looping through. When user is back to the main screen I need to terminate previous history so user cannot hit back button and end up on screen #2, what would be a good way to do something like that? To reiterate - say I don't know or predict the path which leads me to the original view. But once I load it I want to clear history that led user to that view. In 2.0 it's possible with overwriting Activity#onBackPressed but I need something like that in 1.6

I want to pause terminal 'top' command. I tried using 'top -d 1000' but it makes it draw its output for the first time after 1000 seconds from launch, so first I would have to wait 1000 seconds to actually see its output.
How do I make 'top' stop refreshing itself?

I just realized the lack of this feature (or incompatibility) when I tried to call someone and kept getting "your call cannot be completed" message from Verizon.
If Google is trying to target business users they need to get their act straight. The problem is not putting semi column or comma or upside down questionmark to dial extensions, but the issue is the compatibility.
Outlook and most contact management/e-mail systems use X as a divider between main number and extension.
It also makes sense "x" "eXtension". Anyway, I was able to sync all my contact beautifully, only to find out that I cannot call my clients, friends or the companies where I have to dial extensions. I don't remember all their extensions, and I cannot change hundreds of them one by one.
Any way to replace the default "x" for extension in Outlook 2010. Otherwise Android is useless for those calls.

Does anyone know how to make a music loop in mp3? I have the loop in OGG and it plays perfectly, when I convert it to MP3 there is some silence at the end of the loop before it starts again.
I understand MP3 does not natively support gapless playback however I know there are some hacks to make it happen. i.e http://www.compuphase.com/mp3/mp3loops.htm
However the utility in the above website didn't work for me.
Basically I am trying to convert my music into a format supported by both iphone and android. iphone does not play OGGs unfortunately. Any ideas how to get the mp3 gapless? Or alternatively is there another music format that is gapless and supported by both iphone and android?

So, how do you think it works if using the Droid as GPS in the Car Dock, then get a call?? Will there be a single button to tap to answer the phone, put the phone in speaker mode and keep navigating?

When I have navigation going and am wearing my bluetooth, or using the bluetooth speaker from my visor, the first one to two words do not make it through the bluetooth. For example, if it says "Turn right on main street", I'll here "right on main street". Some times I'll here "main street". I am certain that it is missing those words, because I can listen w/o bluetooth and hear it all. I am presuming that maybe it 'disconnects' the voice until it needs to use it, and it results in an lag.

It seems that many people are having trouble navigating to the correct command prompt to do the recovery step of the root process. If you press (Shift + right click mouse) you can select to open a command prompt in that directory. I'm sure many of you know this, but I found it very helpful when rooting my Eris.

Alright, I have a Droid 2 (actually my second one; both have had this problem), although it's not really a model-specific issue.
When I'm walking with the phone in my pocket and listening to headphones, the phone will occasionally think that the headphones have come unplugged when they haven't. This causes it to pause, and I have to take the phone out and unpause it.
Is there any way to disable the 'pause on headphone disconnect' feature? I understand that this is a hardware issue, but there is really no reason for it to pause, as the headphones are still connected.
The phone is rooted and Liberty ROM 3 v2.0 is installed, but the issue occurred when the phone was stock, too.

It stinks that Samsung didnt make one but is it possible for a developer to make one that works with the Galaxy S default music player? I dont use a lock screen at all so I have no way of controlling the music besides going into the music player app. I am currently using Meridian player which has a music player widget btw. I plan to get the Epic 4g and want to use the samsung player, but it needs a widget

From the opencore, we can see the aac file is supported to be played back. But the aac file can not be recognized in the music player.
From "http://groups.google.com/group/android-
framework/browse_thread/thread/ed9f788504c3d35a/42d9c78a38235a19? #42d9c78a38235a19 "
And after I reading the mediascanner sourcecode I think if I want to make the AAC file can be recognized in the music player I should to add following code to mediafile.java:
public static final int FILE_TYPE_AAC = 8;
private static final int FIRST_AUDIO_FILE_TYPE = FILE_TYPE_MP3;
private static final int LAST_AUDIO_FILE_TYPE = FILE_TYPE_AAC;
addFileType("AAC", FILE_TYPE_AAC, "audio/aac");
Because the AMR file is also be handled in this way. And form
mediascanner.jave sourcecode, we can see if the aac file is only be regarded as a only aac file not the mp4 single audio. I think the mediascanner.jave should not be modified. But after I modified the mediaFile.java , then I opened the music player the aac file also cannot be seen.

I've heard that people say that the Droid feels "Snappier" when navigating the home screen and such. I use Dxtop and was wondering if that same benefit will be noticed on there or will I have to return back to the default home to get the speed boost? Any info would be great!
