Wondering here if there is a way I could trigger an event, so that any library listening for these events (e.g. jQTouch, Sencha touch, iUI, ... ).
If I could extend or use jQuery for such task e.g. $(...).trigger('event') that would be great to know.
Usage example:
I need to debug a few web apps by simulating multi touch with my mouse. This seems a little complicated, so if I could trigger the multi-touch events using Javascript I could therefore test the app more efficiently.

Update: According to posters below it doesn't work on their fascinate. You can control the screen brightness, by swiping right or left, up where the notification bar is. if it doesn't work, try turning off power saving mode. settings>sound and display>power saving mode uncheck

With 160,000 activations per day, it seems like a lot of us are using android devices, but there aren't many great or addictive games like there are on the iphone. Anyone have any reasons why?

I've noticed over the past week or so my Eris seems to be getting a little sluggish/touch screen a little slow in responding. I was wondering how can I tell what could be causing this? Are there certain programs that slow the down the phone more than others?

There has been discussion on other boards, but emulators and game ports may take a while and depend on if Android is opened for some native code access. The author of my favorite WM emulator, Smartgear (great multi system emu for NES, GBC and Turbografx and Sega) has told me that the "Java" layer is required, so not only do you have to emulate the game systems, you have to also interpret the "Java" layer and this results in slow emulation even on the G1. He wants to release a port of his emu to Android, but says it will not happen until Android has native code access. Coreplayer is another program that is having issues due to Java on Android. They want to port the their media app but state that there is currently too much cpu overhead because any codec not native to the OS ALSO has to go through the "Java" layer. If all things stay constant, this does not mean there will not be emulators, but it does likely mean that even a Gamboy emu will be slow on the G1 or any other Android device. I put quotes around Java, because the container in the OS is more a hybrid of Java, but the cpu overhead is still the same. We will probably not see Doom, Quake, MAME or any full speed emulator with sound until Google opens the OS up to some native code access. Google demoed Quake, but it apparently did not go through the Java layer restriction. I would like to know if they used the SDK or used code native to the cpu. I tend to believe others that the OS will be opened up more by Google, but how long will this take?

When I set my new phone up, it automatically asked what functions I wanted associated with certain swipes.. ie... swipe from right to left to delete, left to right to mark unread, etc... well, I accidentally set it backwards to what I'm used to and can't figure out how to change it back! I've been accidentally deleting things I don't want to delete... how can I change what the swipes do?

I've been looking up everywhere as to how to make apps, but everything i see is too complicated and i don't understand it. What i want to do is create a simple app that has a bunch of pages that you swipe to get to the next page, each page will just be a picture with a single button on it that links to some text. How would i go about doing this? (i have no programming experience)

my wife recently upgraded from Droid RAZR Maxx to a Galaxy S5. one of the things she misses is the old contact manager on the RAZR - because it has a feature that allows her to look at contact details and then swipe left or right to the previous or next contact.
I looked through a few of the more popular contact managers out there and couldn't find one that had this feature.

I was wondering if I can add icons to the display that comes up when I swipe up from the home button on the Moto G.
Currently on the display is the Google icon which takes me to Google Now. Is there a method of adding more icons to the display?
e.g. Swipe up for Google Now
Swipe right for Chrome
Swipe left for Whatsapp
There looks to be plenty of room on the display which got me thinking.

Ok, so recently (out of the blue) I went into the gallery on my Android and all the thumbnails were a plain image with a padlock. When I open images, I can view them individually but I cannot swipe to different images. I have no third party applications installed..

I turned on my samsung galaxy s3 and I swiped to go to my lock screen and then my phone turned off. I couldnt turn it back on but like the next 5 sec. it automatically turned on. now, I cant turn it off or swipe to unlock. my screen isn't broken because I can easily go to my notification screen and tap anything on there and it will still work. the clock is frozen but it will still show when it is charging or not. (I got this phone only a few months ago)

I am in love with the swipe gesture that exdialer has, that is swipe left for sms swipe right for call. But there are a lack of themes for exdialer and also it lacks contacts export and import, ability to set specific ringtone for one contact, etc. So what I wanna know is there any other dialer with the swipe gestures? Or is there anyway to bring it to the MIUI dialer?

As stated in thread title: Is there a way to disable the swipe between tabs gesture for Chrome on Android?
The gesture interferes with my ability to use certain websites that I now rely on that currently do not have an app for Android. I've tried searching for an answer to this and I've just been flooded sifting through irrelevant results for Mac, custom ROMs, etc. So far, the only solution to this has been to use another browser, but I enjoy the seamlessness of Chrome's remote tabs feature. I would like to know if there is an advanced settings section similar to "chrome://flags" for the desktop or a workaround that involves root.

"swipe to archive/delete in notifications" function in Gmail 4.3? Specifically, not being able to?
After upgrading to Gmail 4.3 on both of my devices (TF101 running Team EOS 4, and One S running LiquidSmooth 2.1), I had the ability to archive/delete from notifications. However, I noticed that this function was missing yesterday; it's gone back simply to "swipe to dismiss".
I've tried reinstalling, to no avail.

I wanted to disable the googlenow / google search swipe up launch from the bottom bar.
The reason - to use swipepad for another gesture.
I have seen apps in the market that disable the launch of the google app, but the ring still shows up and cannot be used for another app.
