I installed HTC sync manager on my computer, but when i try to connect with the phone it says some bull**** on the phone like "make sure you have installed the application on the computer and that it is open" I have installed it and it is open!!! What do i do? why is this so needlessly complicated????

Jul 29, 2013I used to be able to just plug the phone into the computer via USB and a drive letter would appear and I would be able to easily move files off the phone and to my computer.
Now when I plug the phone in Media Share pops up with numerous menus and sub menus. Best I've been able to figure out to do is copy one individual file at a time to some mystery folder somewhere on my network. Or using DLNA it opens up Windows Media Player on my computer which shows previews of the photos but no way to transfer the actual files.

Jan 26, 2014I am running a CM11 Nightly on my jfltevzw. I am trying to update to a new nightly by dragging and dropping it onto my phone, the way I always do. However for some reason when I try to do it now, I get an error message saying "Cannot copy item: This device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected." even though it shows up on my explorer. It was working fine like a day ago. I have rebooted my computer and everything, but it just won't work.

Nov 22, 2010I'm plugging my phone into my computer (Windows 7), but when I try to view sd card contents I am getting "Please insert disk" notification. It recognizes that I have it plugged in and it charges, but I can't access any of my phone files. I was able to do this 5 hours ago and since I've had this phone, this has never happened before. Before when I plugged my phone in I instantly got a pop up asking if I want to see files, but now I can't even access them without that. No idea where this new problem just came from.

Jul 26, 2010I have a PPTP VPN connection that I use from time to time to access files on my Windows server at work when I am at home on my laptop or on another computer. It works great... I just map the drive in windows and bingo, my files are there.
So, I was excited when I set my VPN connection up on my Samsung Captivate (it is rooted, if it matters). I set everything up, and it connected on the first try. I sat there and looked at the screen and thought, "okay, what do I do now?"
Perhaps I am missing the boat on this whole VPN for Android thing, but is there a way to access the files on a VPN server? I have the ability to map the drives on a PC, but I can not find a spot to do it on the Android.

I do understand how to use assets in android but now problem is that file sizes are more than 1MB and so android gives error Data Exceeds UNCOMPRESS_DATA_MAX (2183588 vs 1048576). how to access such larger files from assets? Also I cant reduce a file into small buffers because i am just sending it to "DocumentBuilder.parse(in)" as a whole so can not use buffer. The error is on line: Document doc = db.parse(in).
