I've read a good amount on how to stream content from your computer to an Android tablet or phone, but is there a way to go in opposite direction? I'd like to wirelessly play the podcasts on my phone to speakers in my Thunderbolt monitor.

I've just gotten a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 to go with my S3 and now that I have more than one device floating around my house, I'm wondering if there is a better way to share files and data among them than to hook each to my computer separately and then transferring stuff around by USB. I'm looking into Kies, but in the past, I've never been able to get it to work correctly, so I'm not sure if this will work any better on this attempt. Am I on the right path, or is there something different / better than Kies that I could use to have all three devices available on the network for sharing?
I guess I should probably ask if what I want is even possible... I'd really like an always on type of networking where as long as the device is online, I can push data back and forth (ie if my tablet is at home sleeping, and there is a file I want to get from it, I can access it from my phone and vis versa). In addition to that, I'd like a similar connection to exist between my two mobile devices and my computer so I can transfer files back and forth with the computer without having to take up desk space by connecting the device with USB.
The problem I have is in the implementation of a video streaming application. What I need to do is to stream live what I record with the androids' camera, to a remote computer. I managed to establish a connection between the mobile phone and the computer, but I do not know how to send the video.I searched through forums, and I found out that in order to send a streaming video you have you use the ParcelFileDescriptor. So I created an instance of MediaRecorder with encoding H263 and .mp4 file format, I created a Socket and then I created a new ParcelFileDescriptor connecting it with the socket. If that is correct then the android application that I created is functional.What I don't know now is what to do at the side of the computer in order to receive and view the streaming video. I tried using JMF, but it doesn't support .mp4 video files. What do you suggest me to do? Or where to look in order to find a solution?

A friend has been trying to watch a streaming religious program on her android 2.3 tablet. I thought maybe she needs flash. Google Play store says the newest version is incompatible so I found version 11.0.1.153 on iapktop. Downloaded it to pc and transferred it via usb to tablet. It asks if I want to install and appears to be installing for about 20 seconds and then orange triangle with exclamation point and "Application not installed". Watcanadoo?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have observed that the Smartphones (particularly Android) do not perform as well as the computers when performance is compared on GPRS / EDGE.
I have tested streaming videos on while on GPRS / EDGE (not 3G or 4G) and observed that the smartphone gives up saying connection problem. When I stream the same videos with the same GPRS / EDGE connection through a USB Dongle on a computer(with same SIM Card inserted which was used for testing on Smartphone), the Computer performs better and is able to stream the Videos.
I request the experts to explain why this happens. The SIM and its location are the same and the speed received from it is also the same. Then why does the computer able to play it while the smartphone gives up saying connection problem.
I would like to clarify here that the GPRS / EDGE works alright on surfing websites etc. while the problem is only in streaming. I have tested this on various phones of Samsung / HTC / Motorola so the question of a particular phone having some problem does not arise.
It is a CRAIG tablet and i keep hooking usb to computer end hooked up to tablet but it wont mount how can i do that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMine is a froyo 2.2.1 device (ViewSonice VB730), I tried z4root, instant root, DPRoot, and many many many rooting apk but it is not working, some of them are FC or some of them are stucking in "attempting to apply root" I tried to use SuperOneClick but since I can't find a suitable driver for it, so when I use "adb devices", the list is empty.
I also checked out about some article about how to manually root a devices with PC, seems I have to copy the necessary file first to /data then run the exploit. Since I dont have the driver, I tried to do it with Terminal Emulator and tried to grand access right of /data but failed.

ls: can't open '.' : Permission denied
$ chmod 777/data
chmod: /data. Operation not permitted
What should I do

I would like to set up an "AirPlay" like system on a nice (but outdated) stereo system using DLNA. I was thinking about doing this by using my primary phone as the Digital Media Server (DMS), and my old android phone as the Digital Media Player (DMP).

The primary phone - DMS, would be used to send the music to the old phone - DMP, which would then output the music via 3.5mm jack into the aux on my stereo. The only downfall I can think of to this setup would be the fact that I would have to dedicate a phone to the stereo, but that's not a problem because I don't use it anyway!

I want to use the voice call function of this USB dongle with my Android tablet but unfortunately can't. When i make a call to the modems phone while it is attached to tablet, i have the dialing tone on my cellular. But tablet doesn't seem to detect the call and it has no response. Phone WORKS because you can press buttons and swipe on the screen and you can see things happening.. Just nothing to view.
Phone is set to CHARGE so I can't just plug in the cable to the computer.I want to transfer the content (contacts, txt messages, voice recordings, pics, videos) to either the NEW phone (HTC ONE), transfer it to a PROGRAM on the computer and then transfer those to my HTC ONE.
There ARE android software to recover and view content on the computer. The problem (I haven't downloaded any of these software tho) is that they all seem to require the phone be read from the computer. But when the phone was set to CHARGE, when you connect the cable it just tries to charge the batter in the phone rather than DISK MODE.
I have a Nexus 7 tablet and every few days I notice a few new apps on the device. I'm not sure if they're full apps or just simply icons to download apps or get more information. I have tried to avoid using them. I know previously I had a couple apps that were sending notifications to the notification system that I considered to be spam. After some research I found out how you can find out which apps are doing it and disable notifications from those apps so that took care of that.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought a 2TB Western Digital MyBook Live. For those of you who do not know what it is let me briefly explain. It is a 2TB drive that looks like any other WD MyBook. The only difference is it connects directly to your router (not to your computer) and it allows me to have my own personal cloud right here in my house.
Among other things, I put my music library on the share so I can access from wherever I am. I know that there is an app called WD2Go by WD, and this allows me to access/play my music, but I do not like the format.
I also do NOT want to upload my music to Google Music in order to have it stream to my device.
I want to know if there is a way or an app, to stream my music directly from my own source right to my phone.
I connect my GNex via MHL to my TV. I also have a Nexus 7. Is there any possible way to use my N7 as a remote control/bluetooth keyboard to control my GNex? Run a VNC Server on the phone and a VNC Viewer on the tablet, but this is laggy.

I can send Youtube videos to it so it seems it may be possible. But I don't see any options on Redbox Instant for doing this. I've tried using the mhl adapter and it just doesn't work good at all and I'd rather go wireless through DNLA anyway. Since I already have a smart TV, I'd rather not have to buy chromecast, but if that works I may have to.
