I'm tired of Android asking to set the default app for some actions like opening a link, writing an sms and so on after EVERY update of the default app.. Why on every update of Chrome BETA I have to set again that it is my deafult browser?
Each update of the keyboard is even worse, I have also to put the check in settings to enable the keyboard..

I went into GO SMS and set it to default within the application, but I guess android has a setting that is overriding Go.
I have an HTC One X (4.1.1) on O2 in the UK and every couple of days it stops getting a data connection. I contacted O2 who told me to reset the APN to default, wait an hour then reboot which fixes the problem. For another day or so...
Is there a better / permanent fix for this or at least a way to automate this process? I have automateit but I can't get it to access menu clicks - is there an alternative macro app that would do this?
Galaxy s2 sgh t989 rooted followed all steps.I ran hc-ktool to backup efs.img and efs.tar.gz. I have not flashed any ROM for fear of turning my s2 into a paper weight. I downloaded root browser from play store to try and look deeper. That is when i noticed my efs folder was empty. I have been scouring my files but feel like a blind man looking for a needle in a haystack.
i still have a good imei and broadband version...everything seems okay. I am reluctant to do anything for fear of bricking. I no longer have lockscreen or power off menu either.Can i reset the phone to factory default and restore my efs? If so, do i have to unroot my phone?
I factory reset my old unused S3 and I'm now trying to re-purpose it (as a wifi only device). The problem is when I re-add my Google account to it, Google Play automatically starts re-downloading ALL my apps to it and I don't want that (probably over 100) - I just need 4 to 5 apps from that account re-downloaded (I don't mind doing it manually). How do I get Google Play to NOT automatically re-download all those apps?

Recently if I switch phone off I find that when I power it back up it keeps asking me which of my installed launchers to use as default.
how I can stop this? I rarely switch off phone and have ticked the make launcher default button but it still resets when rebooted.

I cleaned a bunch of files with Titanium Backup and have have backups of the uninstalled apps which include my default gallery (I had another gallery app), Homescreen Launcher and some others.
By mistakenly I reset my phone to factory settings and now after resetting I cannot access any functions. Since I had deleted the launcher. I am having the files of the launcher though but since the phone has USB Debugging turned off and Google Account not set, I am not able to do anything!! Is there any update.zip kind of file to reinstall the launcher? I am using Motorola Fire XT311 which has locked bootloader so no Nandroids too !!
I have contact pictures for my contacts that I have chosen and assigned to my contacts manually and are stored as the Google contact picture, I have an issue with the facebook app when it syncs a facebook profile picture update the application forces the contacts default picture to be the facebook picture.
I don't want it to do this, it can change the facebook linked contact picture but why does it have to change the contacts default picture?? Is there some way this can be blocked or stopped from within Android contacts??
This has been prevalent since before I can remember with the facebook app and sync. Surely submitting a bug to facebook is not the solution as we SHOULD be able to control and/or lock portions of our contacts details..
I have coded an NFC application, but everytime i scan the tag i need to go to my application. Currently when i scan tag, a pop up menu shows other nfc applications like one from nxp...
Is there a way ,when i scan tag my application can appear or start as default app.
So we've had the Droid since November, I used it, no problems, then it got passed down to my technologically challenged husband after he "accidentally" broke his flip phone in half.
He put some apps on it, and now it's constantly making sounds confirming every action, despite making sure that was unchecked in settings. (It's quiet when he has media volume turned off, but then he has to manually turn it back on every time he wants to play a game or watch a video.)
I factory reset once, and it was fine, then he put all the same apps back on it, and it started up again. I have now done three more resets, and not only is it not going away, but his same wallpaper keeps coming back, despite it not showing anywhere in the phone's internal memory through Astro, and making sure I had the memory card taken out while resetting. Not only that, but when I attempt to mount the phone to the computer, the memory card shows up, but not the internal memory.
Did he get a virus? Does anyone have any other ideas of how to resolve this?
I know this has probably been asked before but I've tried searching and can't find the answer.

Sure, I know that you can press the 'end call' button to end a call, but about three or four rings into the call, the backlight goes out, meaning that the on-screen 'end call' option is disabled, presumably also meaning that turning on the speakerphone during a call is going to need some tactile finger acrobatics.
Whenever I do a search w/ google search widget it will open the searched items in the HTC internet browser. I checked for a setting but didn't find any. Dolphin HD is the default browser.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an AT&T Galaxy S4 I337 that I have been running Cyanogenmod on for quite a while now. Well, after getting bored and wanting to revert to the original firmware, I went through the process of a factory reset to stock through Odin. Everything went smoothly, all that's left is to update to 4.4.2 Kitkat and to root my phone once again. I went into settings and began the OTA update thinking it would install 4.4.2. After about 20 minutes of updating and downloading, my phone finally finished rebooting, but when I checked to see what version of android I was running, it was still 4.2.2. Kies also says that I'm running the latest firmware. Why won't my phone or Kies pick up the new Kitkat update? Does it have something to do with the fact that I flashed a custom ROM before?

Because when I get a new text, Hand cent will post an icon in the notification panel and there will always be another notification icon next to it, I think it is the stock app doing that. View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I installed PandaBeta for the Droid, and although it was cool, I uninstalled it because it was lacking the features I really wanted (it is in beta after all). After I uninstalled it, my phone has been acting semi goofy, and I noticed there are some new things that show up in Taskiller that weren't there before:
1.) Google Partner Setup (I don't even know what this is)
2.) com.google.android.apps.maps:FriendService
3.) Bluetooth Share (I never use bluetooth)
4.) com.weather.Weather:gadgetPrivateProcess
5.) Voice Dialer
6.) com.Twidroid:remote
Now I don't know if those are supposed to be there, but if they are supposed to be there, they were never there UNTIL I installed PandaBeta. My big issue though is I have noticed my phone acting semi weird (could have just been a fluke). I just made a 1 hour phone call and when I went to hangup, the screen never woke up. So I hit the unlock button, nothing happened. I open the keyboard, nothing happened. The phone was on because when I opened the keyboard, the keyboard was backlit. This never happened before the uninstall. Anyway, is there anyway to restore the Droid to the initial state? In other words a factory reset of the OS? I don't care if I loose all data, since everything I have is on the Google Cloud anyway.
Is there such as APP which I could run to "re-reset" the sounds I set. Now and then the sounds are reset to the default and it is annoying. When I detect it, I have the fun going through setting the noises back to what I want. This is annoying. I thought when I set the sounds they were "saved" somewhere. But setting the sounds again and again, and again.

after some googling i was able to intercept the outgoing SMS by getting the outbox.
Now the problem is that when the SMS comes to outbox i try to delete it at the same time, the API shows that the row was deleted from outbox but it is sent to the desired phone number as well :S.
I was thinking of changing the SMS center number programatically and i didn't get a clue. more over if there is a way the outbound sms can be stopped before being sent.
Since the update to 2.1. When i make a call it dont ring says its making a call and its counting up. But no ringing. I have to turn off my phone and turn it back on, then it works.

First off, is there anyway to take a custom image that I have and I am using and put it into the list of "default" backgrounds so that when I change it I don't have to go through that resize hassle and everything and I can have it in a more organized location. Also are there any applications or tools out there to get great looking wallpapers for the nexus one. Sometimes when using an image it doesn't look that good and the selection thing when doing it from the gallery is annoying because of the selection has to be a square yet my screen is 800x480.
