General :: How To Automate Reset APN To Default
Jan 8, 2013
I have an HTC One X (4.1.1) on O2 in the UK and every couple of days it stops getting a data connection. I contacted O2 who told me to reset the APN to default, wait an hour then reboot which fixes the problem. For another day or so...
Is there a better / permanent fix for this or at least a way to automate this process? I have automateit but I can't get it to access menu clicks - is there an alternative macro app that would do this?

I'm tired of Android asking to set the default app for some actions like opening a link, writing an sms and so on after EVERY update of the default app.. Why on every update of Chrome BETA I have to set again that it is my deafult browser?
Each update of the keyboard is even worse, I have also to put the check in settings to enable the keyboard..

Galaxy s2 sgh t989 rooted followed all steps.I ran hc-ktool to backup efs.img and efs.tar.gz. I have not flashed any ROM for fear of turning my s2 into a paper weight. I downloaded root browser from play store to try and look deeper. That is when i noticed my efs folder was empty. I have been scouring my files but feel like a blind man looking for a needle in a haystack.
i still have a good imei and broadband version...everything seems okay. I am reluctant to do anything for fear of bricking. I no longer have lockscreen or power off menu either. Can i reset the phone to factory default and restore my efs? If so, do i have to unroot my phone?

I understand that the sync switch in the power control widget has effect only on google services (email, calendar, tasks, browser, play books, etc.) while it has no effect on facebook/twitter/whatsapp push notifications: for the latter I need to enable/disable inside the apps. Correct?
If that's so, I am looking for an tasker-like app that allows me the following:
every time I push a dedicated icon on the homescreen or I am connected to the home wifi, disable google sync, disable facebook/twitter push notifications and enable whatsapp notifications
Would that be possible? I understand that tasker (and other similar apps) cannot do the facebook/twitter/whatsapp part. correct?

Any way to get the Bing daily background as my Android phone's background?
(on an automated daily basis without user intervention)
There are a lot of wallpaper switching apps, but none of them link to Bing's daily image.
If there were an app that would set the wallpaper from a URL [URL] ....... on a daily basis, then I could scrape the Bing image and host it for retrieval.
If I could even just find a wallpaper app that switches on a daily RSS feed, I could create my own feed to expose Bing's daily image.

I cleaned a bunch of files with Titanium Backup and have have backups of the uninstalled apps which include my default gallery (I had another gallery app), Homescreen Launcher and some others.
By mistakenly I reset my phone to factory settings and now after resetting I cannot access any functions. Since I had deleted the launcher. I am having the files of the launcher though but since the phone has USB Debugging turned off and Google Account not set, I am not able to do anything!! Is there any update.zip kind of file to reinstall the launcher? I am using Motorola Fire XT311 which has locked bootloader so no Nandroids too !!

So I backuped all my system data and apps with titanium backup and now installed different ROM, and when I try to restore missing apps and data it asks for approval for every single app I had installed. I need to press "install" and then "done" for each app, and not only that, if I don't want to install and press cancel it stops working and I need to go to task manager, kill titanium backup and do everything again.. How to make that process automatic?

So I installed PandaBeta for the Droid, and although it was cool, I uninstalled it because it was lacking the features I really wanted (it is in beta after all). After I uninstalled it, my phone has been acting semi goofy, and I noticed there are some new things that show up in Taskiller that weren't there before:
1.) Google Partner Setup (I don't even know what this is)
2.) com.google.android.apps.maps:FriendService
3.) Bluetooth Share (I never use bluetooth)
4.) com.weather.Weather:gadgetPrivateProcess
5.) Voice Dialer
6.) com.Twidroid:remote
Now I don't know if those are supposed to be there, but if they are supposed to be there, they were never there UNTIL I installed PandaBeta. My big issue though is I have noticed my phone acting semi weird (could have just been a fluke). I just made a 1 hour phone call and when I went to hangup, the screen never woke up. So I hit the unlock button, nothing happened. I open the keyboard, nothing happened. The phone was on because when I opened the keyboard, the keyboard was backlit. This never happened before the uninstall. Anyway, is there anyway to restore the Droid to the initial state? In other words a factory reset of the OS? I don't care if I loose all data, since everything I have is on the Google Cloud anyway.

Is there such as APP which I could run to "re-reset" the sounds I set. Now and then the sounds are reset to the default and it is annoying. When I detect it, I have the fun going through setting the noises back to what I want. This is annoying. I thought when I set the sounds they were "saved" somewhere. But setting the sounds again and again, and again.

I thought there was a way to set the Droid to "automatically" download and install updates to apps that were on the phone.I currently have to go into the Market app, click on Menu -> Downloads and see if any are marked 'Update Available' and update each one.Is there a way to automate this or at least get a pop-up notification that an update is available?

We have several Android apps and found that the process of uploading apps for each release via Android Developers website slow and ineffective. We like to automate the process. To be more clear, we have automation for compiling and building the apps, it's a matter of uploading them to Android Market and fill in the app details for publishing. This is where we are left with manual publishing.
I am interested to learn how people automate the processing?
Does Google have a web service of some sort for publishing Android App on Android Market?

I am developing a game for Android in Windows Vista environment. I want to automate the exporting unsigned application operation in a batch file. So, I wouldn't have to Right click on the project, go to Android Tools and then select Export Unsigned Application Package... anytime I want to run my project.

First of all I have a Sprint Epic Touch 4G AKA Samsung Galaxy 2 S and not rooted,
I keep getting prompt to select which launcher(launcher or twlauncher) when I press the home button. I would select set as default and then select twlauncher. This would work fine and I could do what I want and the home button acts normally. BUT if I long press the home button to bring up task manager and a list of recent apps, it would break the default setting on twlauncher. I could go to setting and manage app and see that the default on twlauncher is now cleared even though I did not manually clear it. I tried checking set as default and then select launcher. It too won't stick AFTER I long press the home button.
Long story short, I downloaded several launchers from the market and none of them will stay set as default IF I long press the home button. It breaks the default every time and ask me to select the launcher to use when I press the home button. Now this would be great if I could just delete all the other launcher and have only one but I can't delete the stock launcher or twlauncher.
So the first time this happen, I was driving down the road using telenav when I see the prompt to select which launcher(something that I've never seen after using the phone for 2 weeks).
1. Start task manager and kill all active app and clear memory from RAM
2. Clear defaults from manage application....twlauncher
3. Click home button, click set as default and then launcher instead of twlauncher- still does not stick after long press home button.
4. Manage application...twlauncher CLEAR DATA (sure enough my neatly organized homepage and apps folder was reset to stock).
5. Pull battery
6. Cycle power on and off.
7. Gave up after 24 hours and factory reset the phone.
8. Went on my merry way and reinstall apps and customizing home page and apps pages and so on.
9. In hindsight, I should have long press home button every time I installed a new app to see which one will break the default.
10. Phone works fine for 24 hours and then it mysteriously acts up again. It ask me to choose which launcher again.
11. Went back to googling and tried the following which did not work:
a. clear media hub data and default
b. installed Sprint "clean" ID and then later deleting it.
c. installed go launcher and see if it will stick
d. installed launcher pro
e. installed home switcher
f. I don't have Qik or some child lock apps
g. search XDA and found about 15 threads and tried everything in those thread short of using Titanium to freeze one launcher.
Right now I just won't long press the home button to bring up task manager or recent apps and everything will work just fine. Minor annoyance but I guess I can live with it until the ICS update.

Why a Froyo factory reset really isn't (plus, a fix for upgrade issues) | Android Central Its in reference to the X but I am going to factory reset tonight and see what happens."If you're one of those folks who is less than pleased with your Droid X after the Froyo update, this one's for you. Android Central Forums member Fabrian was at wit's end, and even talked of ditching his X (blasphemy!) because of the random bugs, general weirdness, and plain old unsatisfactory performance of his unit since the update. His last-ditch effort and ingenuity seems to have paid off. The secret? He has completely disabled the Froyo feature that restores data from previous installs. It's really just a matter of turning off the automatic restore feature before logging back into your Google account. It's a little odd that "Automatic Restore" is still checked by default, even when "Back up my data" isn't, but there you go.The method isn't too painful and does require one more factory reset, but the payoff appears to be a much smoother experience. Makes sense, too restoring data from Eclair to Froyo probably isn't a very good idea even if it is convenient.
We've verified it here, a hard reset in Froyo isn't really a hard reset, as things come back by themselves. Follow Fabrian's instructions, and you will have a pristine Froyo installation on your Droid X (or Nexus One -- Sense on Froyo has no setting for this that we could find). Any troublemaking leftovers will be no more, and won't get downloaded and installed automatically again. If you're being plagued with myriad tiny bugs in your Droid X after the update, give it a try! [Android Central Forums] Thanks Fabrian, nice sleuthing!"

Long time Droid user, brand new to the Fascinate Forum. I just bought my wife a Samsung Fascinate and I have to say the thing is absolutely phenomenal! It makes my Motorola Droid look like a 1990's flip phone!! Except for one problem the darned thing has been automatically spontaneously performing a factory reset / hard reset on itself. And it is happening at completely random times. You're sitting there playing a game, you're reading your e-mail or you just pushed the screen ON / power button to wake the phone up and unlock it and then, all of a sudden The phone reboots to the black and white Samsung startup screen, then recovery pops up and yellow writing appears that says "Formatting FOTA:", "Formatting DATA:", "Formatting CACHE:". Then the phone reboots again and comes up like you just pulled it out of the box; a full factory reset / hard reset. The contents of the SD card are thankfully fine.Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know if there is anything I can do to turn on some sort of logging so that maybe I can figure out what causes it? This is now the second phone that this is happening to. We took the first phone back to Verizon the very same day we got it and they swapped it out right there for another brand new one. The second phone behaved perfectly for three whole days before it went and wiped itself. We thought for sure that the problem was with the first phone, but now it is happening with the second phone.I am going to start from scratch again, adding one app at a time making sure the thing continues to work. But there weren't any apps on the device in the first place that were really out of the ordinary.- Gmail POP3 Yahoo- Corporate E-Mail to Microsoft Exchange Server (No, it wasn't the Exchange Admin sending a kill package, I'm the Exchange Admin)
- Angry Birds
- Robodefense
- Facebook
- Beautiful Widgets
- Cal Widget
- Google Maps
- Pandora
I have all of those apps and more on my Motorola Droid (also connected to the same Exchange Server) and my device is behaving just fine.I'm trying to think of reasons this might happen and I'm drawing a complete blank.

I have installed Dolphin and like it, and I've made it my default browser, which is great. However, it is not only the system default, but it even opens links I click on in the Android provided browser (sometimes I both open). On your computer, when you click links in your non-default browser it doesn't send the links to the default one, and it shouldn't on this OS, either. Any ideas how to keep Dolphin as my system default browser, but not have it open links I click on in the Android web browser?

So, to summarize, I screwed up.
Had trouble rooting (very new to this) but finally managed to root.
Tried flashing a custom CM 10.1 ROM onto my GS3 but it game me a "Assert failed:" error. Could not fix that.
So all I want to do is go back to like I NEVER did any rooting, flashing, etc.
Back to stock Touchwiz Rogers Jellybean 4.1.1. with all 11gb (out of 16gb) free.
This is an issue, as I have only 200mb free on my device even though the device shows only 6gb being used (5gb being misc., which I have no idea why it takes up so much space as I had wiped everything in recovery mode)
So what do I do? I am on a SGH-I747m Rogers Galaxy S3. I want my phone to go back to as if I just pulled it out of the box, new (no rooting, I plan to go back to the beginning and start over, I just don't want to brick my phone)

I have an HTC One running 4.3 and I've been having a lot of problems since the update. I'm about to do a factory reset to try and fix it, but I was wondering if there is a way I can back up app data (ex. my game saves) before doing so? I know how to do it through recovery, but my phone isn't rooted so I don't have any of those options available.

I'm having some problems with my Android TV box. When I try to factory reset the box, it boots with the initial setup screen as you'd expect. However when I restart the box, it returns to its pre-reset state, with all my apps and settings as they were before the reset. I have tried the following:
- Full factory reset
- Installing older firmware, deleting partition cache, then reinstalling the new firmware
Despite all this the box still boots with my previous apps/data/settings.
