I really want to set up a media center for my home with a PC runing Nexus Q's ROM and sharing the pc's hard drivers via WLAN. I suppose its possible.
So, need the next things. NEXUS Q's instalation ISO. An app or way to share folders from android to pc.

I want to create an Android ImageButton in the xml file with a background image, and a smaller icon on top of that, right in the center. For some reason, it's not obvious how to do it, and documentation is no help.code...
However, no matter what I try (putting "wrap _ content" instead of absolute numbers on layout _ height and layout _ width, the icon remains in the top left corner of the button. If, however, I have no background image (i.e. a system default white button), the icon does go into the center. The button also goes into the top left corner when I use a color instead of an image for the background.
Why does this happen, and how would I actually get the behavior I want-- that is, a background image with the icon in the center?
I wanted to share my method of converting my windows 7 media center TV recordings to h264 for the Droid. This may work for Vista, but assumes that you have the media pack, so your files are .wtv files (not dvr-ms).
I use MCEBuddy 2.0 Beta 11. This is a small service to convert the wtv to mp4. I Edited the mcebuddymencoder.conf file and change the H264 mencoder settings to this.

I just bought a Nexus 4 and I'd like to activate it on Metro PCS. I inserted the sim card thinking it would work but it doesn't. I read on various sites that it does work since Metro PCS is on T-Mobiles network. So how do i set up so it can work to make calls and stuff?

2 - Any way to delete "remembered" words? For example, when I text people and I type "You?" it always defaults to "Yiy?" instead. It's really annoying!
3 - Is Better Keyboard any good? I love the default qwerty keyboard, but I have a few minor problems with it. The spacebar isn't big enough, I often accidentally hit the period button, for example. Just basically want one that's the same as the default but with a larger spacebar.
Recently I got my Nexus S water damaged and they refused to accept warranty repair due to the water damage they found. Now it works partially, it boots, but the screen image does not show. The touch works, for example I am able to go blindly to the camera and take some photos and I know it works because it makes the shutter sound.
Due to the water damage the phone originally got into download mode only, the internal ROM was wiped out and I had to flash a new ROM and Recovery etc. with Odin. Now the phone is running stock factory image of ICS, and I need to figure out how to flash there something with debugging enabled, because the recovery doesn't work too.
The question is, is there a way to get some kind of remote desktop working over USB without doing anything on the screen? I'd like to be able to set up the phone as an AirPlay receiver at least.
The clock is still to bright in night mode and the button lights stay on still. I have updated to 2.1 and was hoping it had been fixed of someone found a work around for this.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have found ( and I willing to bet many already know this) that the sensor in the upper right side of the screen is what determines if the button lights are on or off. In a well lit room the lights will be off, if you cover that sensor or darken the room the lights come on.
What we need is someone smarter than I am to make an app or widget that disables that sensor when the phone is in the dock, if that is possible.
Is it possible to link the media and notification volume? So when I mute my volume via the volume buttons, that the media volume is also muted. It's similar to the volume management on the iPhone.

I got a Nexus 4 recently and I have retired my HTC Desire Z (G2).
Since I have a 32GB MicroSD card in my Desire Z I want to use it as a MP3 player in my car.
I have it plugged in via aux and power. I have installed tasker and created Profiles to start and stop music when I turn on/off my car.
So everything is great until I want to skip the song. Any way to control the music playing on my Desire Z from my Nexus 4?

I know that IT at work have made changes to allow Android phones as they did it when the Motorola droid appeared, but whenever i try to connect i get "Username or Password incorrect".They are setup correctly and i have logged into OWA on the phone just to make sure its ok.Has anyone else had this? if so how did you resolve it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my N4 to 4.4.1 and now when I get in my VW GTI it starts auto-playing music in my pocket. This issue has always existed for me with multiple nexus devices on different versions of android but I was always to eliminate this issue by unchecking media playback in the bluetooth settings confining its use to only phone connectivity. This setting has often reset when I receive an update so I headed back into the bluetooth settings to turn off media playback only to find that it no longer exists.

However, no sound seems to come from the music player. I mean it comes from the G1's speakers, but nothing though the headphones.

SMS Popup works on 2.2 -- but the setting to increase the speed doesn't work. The color changes work (note, they don't work on the app's own test function, you have to send yourself a text), which I love, but I had to uninstall after realizing that the speed increase doesn't work.

When I execute this code in the simulator, thanks to logcat, I can see that the method setAudioSource(MediaRecorder.AudioSource.MIC) gives the next error (with the tag audio_ipunt) when it is called:
ERROR/audio_input(34): unsupported parameter: x-pvmf/media-input-node/cap-config-interface;valtype=key_specific_value
ERROR/audio_input(34): VerifyAndSetParameter failed
And then when the method prepare() is called, I get the another error again:

If I start to record by calling the method start(). I get lots of messages saying:
AudioFlinger(34):RecordThread: buffer overflow
Then after stop and release, I can see that a file has been created, but it doesn't seem that it been well recorded. Anyway, if I try this in a real device I can record with no problems, but I CAN'T play what I just recorded. I guess that the key is in these errors that I've mentioned before.
Every time I sync to add an album, it removes everything then "copies" everything. I don't get exactly what it's doing, but it takes forever when it does this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to program my Service Center to get my sms to work properly. I am using a Straight talk sim card inside of a att phone. I go into my sms app and click setting and Service Center and enter in my service center number and click save and when I back out of it it doesn't save. If I enter it in and then click home and go back it sets it but my sms is still not working? I tried to look at /system/etc/apns.config.xml but that is just the network. I replaced the apns-config and still didn't work. Where can I edit the default in the actual rom itself?
