Nexus :: Syncing With Media Monkey

View 8 RepliesHow To: Properly Sync Music To Android With MediaMonkey | RickyCadden.com from the site: Mount your phone in USB Mode to your computer, and note the drive letter that it is associated Open this drive in Windows Explorer and create the appropriate folders where you want your music stored. I have one called Music and one called Playlists, but you can do this however you want. Now launch MediaMonkey, and make sure it shows your phones memory card in the left sidebar (separately from the MyComputer option) In MediaMonkey, click on Tools up top, then choose Options and go down to Portable/Audio Devices Uncheck *all* of the plug-ins except d_USBMass1.dll Highlight d_USBMass1.dll and click on the Configure button to the right Choose the Device Configuration tab in the dialog box that popped up In the middle of this tab, youll see a box called Device Name, which is where youll type the name of your phone (mine is NexusOne)Below this, choose the appropriate drive letter from the drop-down Below this, enter a Drive Label (again, mine is NexusOne)Leave the USB Device ID box empty and dont click the Find Device button While you have this dialog box open, you can tinker with the other tabs, if you want. This is where you can specify a folder hierarchy and adjust your sync settings. I would recommend creating a small playlist (~15-20 tracks from various artists/genres/albums) to test with you dont want to do a full sync only to realize you dont like your sync settings. This guide is better because it allows for the use of smart playlists and has much fewer steps than if you use winamp.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the free version of Media Monkey on Wendsday to sync songs to my 32g memory card. I had over 2000 songs with missing artwork and tags to begin with. It took me over 2 days to get all the artwork/tags with the built in search on MM. I finished with the library last night andd this morning I plugged the card into my computer (didnt sync phone). MM found the card right away without changing any settings. Took almost 2 hours to transfer just over 4000 songs. When it was done, I mounted the card on the phone. Took awhile to scan. Went to music player and all the songs were there (thank god). And to boot, all the artwork was there also. So if you need a good sync program comparable to itunes, use MediaMonkey Download.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI spent quite some time de-deduping my PC's music library using Media Monkey and going through all albums to grab info from Amazon. Then I connect my phone and got MM to recognize the G: drive. Then I synced all my music and discovered some issues while trying to play the music using cubed (aka 3):
(a) album art was not showing up. I had previously used cubed to grab art, then cleared the cache before uploading my music. After upload, no art is showing in cubed app
(b) the music on my sd card was stored directly to the G: drive instead of the music folder. How do I get MM to sync directly to the music folder?
Once I start up monkey from the shell like:
adb shell monkey --port 1080
Then, If I write normal java code to establish a connection to 127.0.0.1:1080 (on the device itself) and then issue monkey commands from there?
I have tried this and I am able to create a socket, but to get the response, I wait for an awfully long time and nothing happens. Why this behavior?
common question this one, but i have had a search but no luck i;m afraid. Using Media Monkey to sync to my SGS, but the stock player doesn;t seem to recognise playlists, or the difference between podcasts and otehr tracks. Anyone else using Media monkey and know how to get it working? I've followed the steps here easiest Way to Sync Music to Android Device Using Media Monkey
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Hero and I downloaded Media Monkey yesterday. I mounted my device and went in and tagged from web and embedded album art in all my songs. Then i disconnected the phone only to find that not more than a handful of songs actually showed their artwork.
I'd really like to see the images for my albums and I don't want to pay money for the Album Art Grabber when I feel that this should be something I can do easily for free.
One of the few major drawbacks of android is the only application which syncs music with my phone well is doubleTwist, and that's still pretty buggy. is google ever going to get around to having an answer itunes/zune software? even for someone who doesnt mind doing heavy tinkering with the phone/is a geek like myself its annoying that such a mundane process still doesn't have a simple, elegant solution

View 2 Replies View RelatedIve been looking everywhere and still cant seem to do it but manually, but is there any program possible that I can sync Playlists from say iTunes that are in m3u format and it will show up as a playlist on my Droid? The only way that i found possible is by making the playlist each time i add a song to it and loading it to the Droid, which is a pain. And Songbird doesnt really support the Droid yet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone have the problem where Gmail isn't syncing properly? Or rather where the emails aren't getting pushed properly? It was working perfectly and then my emails were taking ages to come to my phone then i updated to froyo and reset my phone and it was working really well at times, emails would even come to my phone before it came on the computer. but now, its back again for example, when i registered here, the activation email didn't come, and after about 4 mins, i had to refresh it, and then it came. Does anyone have a fix for it?is it cos i have installed too many apps? or something like that? I did change my mobile internet pack and after i got off the phone with the customer service agent, i realized my internet wasn't on and then it had changed to another APN which doesn't seem to work, other internet stuff work. So is that the problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC Hero on three UK network a week ago and I love it!!! Anyway I have pretty much sorted it all out but have a slight problem when it comes to music. I currently have 5 gigs worth of songs I would like to transfer but only a 2 gig memory card. Using WMP11 I converted them to 64kbps and synced perfectly but then I realised that WMP had converted my mp3s to WMAs. For the first few minutes it would work fine on the hero but then it would suddenly stop and no more music would play. I also noticed that the temperature would usually jump from 27.1 to 44.2 while the music was playing. All in all my question is.... are there any free programs that will convert mp3s to lower bitrates which are still mp3 format and sync them to my HTC hero?
View 12 Replies View RelatedUp until now I wasn't having any luck syncing my Incredible with Windows Media Player 12. I ended up renaming my folder structure and it made WMP12 see the Incredible's media. By default, the Incredible makes a folder on the internal 8GB drive called MP3. Originally I put all my music in this folder. But when it was in there, WMP12 could not see it. I ended up creating the following folder structure, and it now syncs correctly. I think the main thing is to have a folder named 'music', not 'MP3'.Now my next step is to try and figure out how to sync my home computers music from any Windows 7 / WMP12 computer. I would like to plug my Incredible into my Windows 7 computer at work, and sync my home computers media data. I read that you can stream music from your home computer this way (WMP12 feature), so I am assuming there may be a way to sync it too. I'll let you know what I find. Let me know if you find out first.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having issues syncing playlists from my computer to my phone.
Here's my issue;
Basically when i sync playlists from my PC to my phone, it saves the playlists on my phone as .PLA format.
Now the only player that actually reads those playlists is my stock player.
I have tried several android players, but non of them will recognize the playlists.
On my PC for syncing i have tried
-WMP
-Winamp
-MediaMonkey
-DoubleTwist
All of these create playlists in PLA format on my device when transferring them, which wouldnt be a problem if i wanted to use the stock player.
As for android apps/media players i have tried:
-Cubed
-Winamp
-Mort Player
-Media PlayerPro
-Mixzing
-Astro Player
When i create a playlist using any of the apps on my phone, every other app is capable of reading them.
However, the playlist file can not be found on my phone, or my SD card. so i have no clue what format they are saved to, or where they are saved too.
I'm basically looking for a way to transfer my playlists from my computer to my android phone, and have the other apps actually read the playlists. The phone im using is the Samsung Galaxy S.
I was wondering if there was a way to sync back information about how many times you listened to a song, to itunes on my computer. Im huge on the smart playlists, especially having my top 50 most listened to. It bothers me if I listen to a song a ton, and it doesn't climb up in the rankings.
I saw on some site that maybe using TuneWiki (which is what I already use), then linking to last.fm might enable to do this. But how? I saw something about a scrobbler that would help, but I don't get what I would do. Put a scrobbler app on the comp as last.fm is offering, or find a scrobbler app for my phone in order to sync that with itunes?
I keep all my music on my PC in MP3 format at 320kbps. I prefer 192kbps on my phone as I'm not too concerned about quality on the move and I can fit more music on that way. I don't want to keep 2 versions of each album as I have loads and that's not really practical. At the moment I sync using WMP12 as it allows you to re-encode to a lower bitrate as it syncs but the only problem is that it re-encodes to WMA format. I don't really have a problem with that as it's only going on my phone but with Froyo there's a bug that means the phone can no longer read the artist tag of WMA files. Since Froyo has now been out for months and there's no word about the bug from Google it appears there's no chance of it getting fixed (a cunning ploy to stop people using WMA seems the most likely explanation I guess) So can anyone recommend a piece of software I can use for Windows that will re-encode to a lower MP3 bitrate as I sync? Does such a thing exist?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy phone just quit receiving Gmail yesterday. I just thought it was a little quiet, but when I went to my inbox and did a manual refresh, I had 16 messages.
I had been in and out of 3G coverage all day and on Wi-Fi networks 5 times...
I unchecked the "sync" icon on the settings widget, and it seems to be working OK now, but this hasn't ever happened on any of my other Android devices.
People may have noticed the recent TLD change for UK gmail addresses previously googlemail.co.uk and now gmail.com. With this, it seems to have messed up my syncing and authentication for some reason. I changed over the other day and ever since I kept getting a message saying the authentication failed. I then added my gmail address as another account and set it to sync gmail (can't sync the calendar for some reason it's not an option). I have not received any push notifications of new mail and I have to manually refresh from within the mail app to get new e-mails. I don't want to remove the previous googlemail.co.uk as it says I have to restore my phone to factory settings (possibly losing messages etc.)

I have a Moto stereo BT headset, and find that I am having an almost impossible time of pairing it. It works to make calls, but I can never get the media sound to come through, even though it says it is connected, I think it has maybe worked twice, with constant turning off and on of both BT on the N1 and the headset.
I noticed I had a lot of problems with my G1 sometimes, but nothing this extreme, the most it would take with the G1 is 1 or 2 tries. The first time I tried it with the N1 it worked perfect, and figured it had finally been fixed, but ever since it is more of a nightmare than ever.
Anyone know of a widget or app or something that will disable the stock music player? Nothing is worse than starting the car and the phone immediately hijacking the audio and starting to play a ringtone or something. The stock media player is awful. I hope they have something better in the works.

I'm using CM10.1 on my Nexus 4.
I got a Nexus 4 recently and I have retired my HTC Desire Z (G2).
Since I have a 32GB MicroSD card in my Desire Z I want to use it as a MP3 player in my car.
I have it plugged in via aux and power. I have installed tasker and created Profiles to start and stop music when I turn on/off my car.
So everything is great until I want to skip the song. Any way to control the music playing on my Desire Z from my Nexus 4?
I cleaned up my contact list, rearranged and merged a few etc etc but now those changes are not trickling down to my phone over wifi or 3g. It has been a week and still no luck. Even if I manually sync, I still do not see the changes...
