Mar 31, 2010I"m running Win XP 32 bit, SP3. I have Nexus one device. and I develop on Eclipse. I'm trying to install my app to test it on a real device - my own Nexus one. after downloading and installing the USB driver - the devices charges just fine. after I mount the USB storage (from the device) I can even see the phone's file system from the computer (thus able to move files in and out of the SD card). however - "adb devices" command returns an empty list. also, Eclipse "Device Chooser" doesn't show the device (it shows emulators I previously configured).

Dec 13, 2013So a while back, I used adb to put android 4.4 kitkat onto my Nexus 4 (unrooted) for the first time. Normally I would wait for OTA updates but not in this case. So, when I did that the google play store wasn't working. I was annoyed, and went to loads of forums and every time I posted a thread I would get no response. Google customer support's only advice was to factory reset. So I waited a few weeks until recently when the 4.4.2 update came out, so I tried installing it and there was an error. After even more posting to forums, and still no responses (strangely they were all active forums) I just now had to do a factory reset. However, I can't sign into google (it says that there was a problem communicating with Google servers and to try again later, and when I press next the message repeats infinitely until I press the home button.) and also my google play services are apparently incompatible with my device?

Apr 25, 2013I have a generic (unbranded) tablet here. The user has used too many pattern attempts. I do a lot of these where I just wipe the device for people.
Sometimes I use key combos and sometimes i use ADB to boot into recovery and then simply select the "wipe data / factory reset option"
However, this tablet has no keys , no volume keys that is, so i used ADB to boot it into recovery which it did just fine.
How can i select "wipe data" when i can't use volume keys to select it? the touch screen is unresponsive in this mode too
I have tried
ADB SHELL WIPE DATA
but i get a permission denied error
I have tried running
ADB ROOT
but i get a "cannot run as root in production build" error
I have tried to root the tablet with super one click by short fuse but it crashes.
so i am basically asking is it at all possible to do a wipe data / factory reset on a device which is not rooted through ADB?

Apr 6, 2014I Have a Nexus 7 and recently I found that I needed to use ADB for something and I had used my Nexus 7 with ADB on this computer before (thats how I installed KitKat) but whenever I connect my Nexus now it says that is not configured correctly and when I attempted to install the ADB driver it said windows encountered an error. I am currently running windows with Driver verification disabled and on test mode. I am also running windows in test mode so that it wouldn't block the driver. I have tried every driver possible from the one in the SDK to the intel android adb driver and even PDAnet. I have checked inside the driver file that it is properly registered for my nexus 7. I am running Windows 8.1 on my computer and android 4.4.2 kitkat on my Nexus 7.

May 23, 2014I have a brand new windows 7 computer, I have installed the latest android SDK, I want to connect to my Nexus 10 using adb.
(device has windows drivers from SDK; "Android Composite ADB Interface". adb version 1.0.31)
when I do adb devices, it does see my device but it says my device is unauthorised.
It has never displayed the security popup.
I am convinced that the security pop up would make this work, but i cannot get it to show, so that it does whatever magic it does.
I have tried plugging and unplugging the usb cable,
I have tried turning USB debugging on and off.
I have changed the USB connection from Camera, to Media, back to Camera.
I can see the adbkey file under $HOME/.android in windows
The android directory /data/misc/adb/ is empty
I have root.
How can I force the security popup to display? Or how can I frig this so I can get it working?
What does the secuirty popup do anyway? probably just copy the adbkey file from windows into the android /misc/adb/ directory right? Can I do it by hand?
Slightly unrelated question, is it true that everything works first time, everytime on IOS?

I am not interested in putting a custom rom on them at the moment (mainly because not all functions -like camera- are working on all devices) but I would like the ability to do a Nandroid backup that seems to be only available with custom roms. On one device I can't unlock the bootloader (Azpen A701), don't know about the unrooted one at this time (brand new Hisense Sero 7 pro).
Is there a way to add CWM to a rooted stock android (only root applied and associated superuser/busybox apps installed)? What are the requirements (unlocked bootloader?)? Where to get said CWM and how to install it?
